This was made in 1980, as far as I know. It's 140 watts (300 watts peak musical power), which is enough for any gigging musician that basically isn't playing an arena. It has two channels--one normal channel, and a boosted/ lead channel, two inputs, push /pull boosted preamp volume, treble, mid and bass pots, a lead gain pot, master volume, a five band footswitchable EQ, footswitchable reverb (not noisy). It has an effects in/out, hum balance (biasing pot), ground switch, outlet plug, speaker out (obviously).

This is a very good amp head. I play it with Les Pauls and SG's, with pedals used for the distortion. The clean sound is really creamy. The drawbacks to it is that the "lead" dial (which is the overdrive channel) has a harsher distortion, that is more akin to solid state distortion/ od. And once you've turned the "lead" pot up, you can't switch the overdrive/ distortion off, instead, you have to manually turn the dial down, in order to switch from a clean to dirty sound. If you leave the "lead" pot completely down, run your distortion via your pedal, turn the master volume completely up (to get the power tubes at full crank), then you can control the amp's volume from the preamp volume, which sounds alot better--and is more versatile. And strangely enough, on my amp when you turn the master volume up to ten, some of the amp noise goes down (not that the amp's noise is really bad to begin with). The tubes are easy to bias.....there's a pot on the back where it says "tubes matching", where you simply adjust the pot with a flathead screwdriver, in order to get them to their least noisiest (which is what you want to do). Even a "flathead" person could do this!! (haha)

Reliability : 8
I've had it for a few months, with no problems. With four 6l6's, it gets hot....really hot, so I wouldn't want to have it on for too long. It's only done this once--I left it on overnight, and while I was sleeping, it was making some weird oscillating farting noises, but was fine in the morning, and has been good ever since. If it doesn't have to be on.....turn it off!

Customer Support : No Opinion
It's old and used, so I don't really know. Haven't needed to know.

Overall Rating : 9
If I had lost this--or parted with it--i'd definetely try to find another one, but these are rare, so hang onto one if you find it, and good luck! A very solid "8 to 9" sorta rated amp. There's better vintage amps out there, but I got this for a really good price, so you'll pay accordingly, and this is a pretty straightforward, nice, durable amp. But it's heavy. I think that it's around 50 lbs.

Very Rare model - I think only built 1 year. 4 6L6's, but otherwise
similar in sound to Fender 75. Basically a beefed up Twin. Has lush
reverb - no tremolo - lead overdrive channel and normal channel.
pull boost controls for bass, middle, treble and a pull bright
switch. 5-band graphic equalizer. Very, very Loud! Adjustable
effects loop. Rear panel speaker outputs (2) says 8-ohm minimum.

Sound Quality : 9
Sounds like a very loud Twin through a peavey 4x12 cabinet.
Very little noise. The overdrive channel seems kinda mild - slightly
different than the two fender 75's that I have. I only use the clean
channel. Sounds really good with humbuckers, BUT when I try to
drive it with single coils through a digitech RP2000 it starts to
sound a little wierd - like it has too much gain.

Reliability : 10
Don't know. It's old, and the one I have is almost mint - so it
probably wasn't abused. Point-to-point Fender solid, built like a
tank - and it's really heavy. Has never btoken down.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Well it's Fender, but I suspect they wouldn't do much for me
with this one. It's so rare - probably should be in a museum.

Been playing all styles for 35+ years and have owned a lot of amps.
This one is near the top soundwise, but recently I prefer Tech21
solid state amps because they sound ALMOST as good and are a LOT
lighter and don't require much maintenance. This amp does make me
smile when I play it - that's a good thing.
