Mine is a 2008 head and stereo speaker cabinet with the special connector. I bought the pair for $950 before the recent Fender price increases.

The head has two channels (one for voice and one for instrument). Each channel has bass/mid/treble controls, effects select and volume, master volume, etc. The effects are slightly different on each channel with one channel optimized for vocals and one channel optimized for acoustic guitar.

The speaker cabinet has two 8" neo woofers and two dome tweeters. The speaker cabinet is a creme tolex with oxblood grill and includes magnetic "foot holders" on top to hold the amp in place. Both the amp and speaker cabinet are extremely light-weight. There are a bunch of other of additional features that I am not going to go into, but all are good and useful.

Sound Quality : 10
I have used the Ultralight setup with a Martin OMJM guitar w/gold pickup factory installed. I have also miked a Taylor. For vocals I used a Shure SM58 but have also tried a Beyer 160 ribbon mic. Both sound very good, although the preamp is a bit to low gain for the ribbon. Using a UA 610/solo as a mic preamp sounds absolutely phenominal.

The amp is very quiet compared to many acoustic amps I have either owned or auditioned, which include a Phil Jones Cub 100, Traynor, Fishman Loudbox, Fender Ultrasonic Jr., and a few PA systems.

I'll cut to the chase right away: This is the best sounding acoustic amplifier I have ever heard or used--Period! I don't know if it is the amp or the speakers (I suspect the speakers), but the sound is huge, warm, and clear. I also fed the output from a TASCAM DP-02 recorder into the amp and played some mixed tracks through it and, again, it sounded astounding!

The amp is rated at 100 watts and it does go quite loud with great clarity. It just sounds "right."

Reliability : 9
The amp and speaker have been completely reliable. The only problem I have had is a bad LED on the two channel effects footswitch. One LED was dead out of the box. I will nick a point for that.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No opinion. I will find out when I take the footswitch in for repair/replacement.

Overall Rating : 10
There is no doubt in my mind that this amp rates a 10. Comparing it to plugging into a keyboard amp really is enlightening (and does not bode well for the keyboard amp). The Ultralight sound is like combining the best of solid state, tube, and high fidelity stereo into one amp. The sound is HUGE with a near perfect frequency balance, which can be fine tuned using the EQ pots.

There is a bit of hiss present when you turn it up to very high levels, but no more than any other amp, and much less than most. All my amps have hiss because my source voltage fluctuates between 123-126V all the time, which is quite high on average.

For a grand with tax, I did not find the amp to be cheap. However, once I really heard what it can do, I truly believe that the amp is a bargain.

Solid state design, 2x125W into 4 ohms per side, 2 channels (instrument and mic), Phantom power on mic channel, XLR line out with level control and ground lift, Headphone output, Tuner output with muting, DSP effects (reverb, delay, chorus, Vibratone, and combinations, Switchcraft locking speaker outputs (Speakon compatible), Volume, 3-channel EQ, and effects level and select on each channel, Notch control on instrument channel, String Dynamics control for reduction of harsh trebles, Effects level on each channel, Stereo or mono output selector, Voltage selector switch for worldwide use.
I have bought as supplement to a PA system for smaller gigs. It really does wonders to my bag.

Sound Quality : 9
This amp is used with the Fender cabinet it is designed for.
I use it with either a Martin J-41 special or a Martin 000-28 EC both fitted with Martin Gold plus system. I play blues, folk and gospel.
The amp is totally silent and still able to be loud enough to be heard. The sound quality is amasing and really surprised me. I am used to play trough a good PA system and a Fishman aura floor system but this sound almost as good at less than half the price and only 10% of the weight.

Reliability : No Opinion
I already own a Fender 57 Twin reissue, a Vibroking and a Blues junior. None of them has ever caused any troubles so I don't expect this one to do either.

Customer Support : 9
I have, over the years, contacted Fender a couple of times. They have always been very helpful.

Overall Rating : 9
I have been playing almost 40 years. If this amp was stolen I would most definetely buy a new one. Superb amp for small gigs.

I purchased this amp in May of 2007 to replace a Roland AC-100 acoustic amp. The amp has 2 x 125 Watt channels, with independent effects on each channel all controllable with an included footswitch. The reverb, delay and chorus are beautiful, not overstated. There are a varitey of combinations that the effects can be set to, however most often I find myself using a combination of those three. I use this amp for jamming with much bigger Marshall tube amps and find no problem whatsoever in terms of being able to be heard. The amp does NOT feel strained at higher volumes. The head of the amp has a 1/4 inch headphone jack for those late night practice sessions. There are also individual dials for the following: Volume, Treble, Mid, Bass, String Dynamics, Notch, and Effects Level. Notch allows you to dial in any feedback you might be experience and eliminate it; however, I have not once had the amp feedback on me while playing my Taylor 815ce through it. String Dynamics softens some of the high end sounds while strumming aggresively.

Sound Quality : 10
It produce clear crisp sounds at all volume levels. I play a 2006 Taylor 815ce through this and it reproduces the sound brilliantly. Sometimes I can't believe how accurate it is. The accurate reproduction of sound is a double edge sword though. My low end campfire Cort sounds harsh and unflattering through the amp - largely due to the fact that it is so accurate in reproducing the sound. So if you have a very low end guitar, it may not sound like you WANT it to, it will sound how the instrument sounds. Make sense?

This amp suits my style perfectly. I play a lot of aggressive strumming a la style of Dave Matthews. The settings on the amp allow me to get a very close sound to his.

The amp is never noisy or overbearing (unless I am playing that way lol)

Reliability : 10
It is new as I stated above, but seems to be solid to date. Not one hiccup, nothing that would lead my to believe I would have a major problem at any point. My Line 6 electric amp would shut off, or go to 1/4 volume unexpectedly from the day I got it. This amp has done nothing of that nature and I have played it extensivley from the day I got it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Not had to use this feature, although I wish Fender had more available web forums for support and questions.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for over a decade, although only seriously over the past two years. I own the following gear: Fender Rumble 25 Bass Amp, Line 6 Spider II 210 (not long for this world), Fender Acoustasonic Ultralight Head and Cab, Taylor 815ce, Cort MR-710F, Epiphone Les Paul Custom and an Ibanez SDGR Bass.

If this amp were stolen, I would not hesitate, not for one second, to replace it immediatly.

The best thing about this amp (aside from the brilliant sound) is its portability. I throw the head in the supplied bag, pack up the foot switch and cables in there, grab the amp and go. It is VERY light weight and portable and produces the best sound I have ever heard from an acoustic amp.

Do go and try one out. I spent hours playing a variety of acoustic amps and this is the one that won my ears.

This is a new 2007 amp head with two channels. One for instrument and one phantom powered for a mic. It cranks out 2 x 125 watts stereo. It has 16 DSP effects w/foot control on/off, a notch filter and phase feedback controls. It uses a speakon cable to attach to the matching cabinet that holds two 8" Eminence woofers w/neodymium magnets and two 1" soft dome tweeters. The cab weighs 22 lbs. and the head weighs 7.6 lbs.. I use this amp in small and large venues. Ocassionally for larger outdoor events I use the line out w/level control to the pa system. This is not usually necessary due to amazing volume output of this amp.

Sound Quality : 10
I use a Taylor T5 and a 414CE as well as a Takamine EAN15. The transparency of this amp is amazing. It delivers a true clean representation of all my guitars. I play rythem guitar mostly in a group that plays a wide variety of styles from county, rock, jazz and folk. This amp may be small in size but it is huge on volume. I have owned Genz benz, Traynor and other Fender's but after buying this amp they are all up for sale. None compare to this amp.

Reliability : 10
Having had Fender amps that have lasted decades, I expect this one to be on par with Fender standards. I don't bring a backup because I've never had a failure with any of my Fender amps although we always have extra amps in the trailer.

Customer Support : No Opinion
N/A Never used them.

Overall Rating : 10
I have played guitar for over 40 years. I own tons of gear and have sold tons of gear that I wish I still had. Never get rid of anything unless you absolutly have to. If this amp were stolen I would buy another immediatly. For an acoustic amp this is the best amp out there with out having to get a second mortgage to pay for it. Even then I'm not sure many people could actually hear the difference. If you're in the market for an acoustic amp, try one of these and you'll see what I mean.
