25 watts, 5 presets, 12 inches fender special speaker; Solidstate, snmall with a VERY loud output.

Sound Quality : 8
I am playing a fender American deluxe strat, with signal through a series of analog effects (boss DD3, CE5, MXR distortion plus, cs3 compressor, volume pedal). But the clean channel sound good even with no effects on.
I play progressive rock & Blues, for about 30 years now.
The clean presets (Buttons 1 & 2) are great, even in the maximum volume.
Pushin the two presets (1 & 2) together and you get a great clear sound, with a little less definition but earth shacking!
I don't use the others presets and distortions because they sound very thick. But the clear sound is great! and very loud, even for small bars or clubs shows!

Reliability : 10
have it for 5 yeras now, no problem at all!

never need it.

PLaying for 30 years now, I found a very practical and high fidelity solid state for clean guitar sounds. Not really a classic fender amp but a very good clean sound for processing. And very ruugged, portable and loud amp!
If I loose it i would try to buy a tube amp. But for the price the SE is unbeatable.

It's hard to believe the SE gets an overall 7.9 rating and the GT get's a 9 something. Must be rating the GT on the drive tones cause I can't imagine ( although I have not played a GT ) the cleans sounding any better than this.

The clean tones this amp produces are pure Fender. Whoever designedthis amp did an excellent job of replicating Fenders famous clean tube sound ( ala Deluxe, Princeton, etc ) in a compact, lightweight and cheap solid state amp.

I am very pleased and amazed with this little beauty. I was looking for a small, portable amp that had good headroom, decent clean tone and took to dirt pedals well. This is it.

I've been playing guitar since the dawn of time......or so it seems. From the mid to late 60's until now, 2006, I have been through quite a wide variety of tube and solid state amps. From Silvertone Twin Twelves to Univox tube heads to Acoustic 135's, to Peavey to Vox to Fender Twins, Supers, Deluxes, Princetons, Champs...from tweed to brown to blackface to silverface...to Peavey to Markley to Marshall to hand wired botiques and most points in between.

While I play a wide variety of musical styles, most everyting I play comes from a blues home base.

I lust after pure, rich clean tones and that lovely, gritty filth that blooms from a good tube amp as you up the wicket on the volume control..

Well, this amp does not do the filth thing well in my opinion. But the two clean tones are exceptional for what this amp is. The reverb even sounds ike a bigger Fender! The chorus is the worst pos I've heard on an amp. The only use I've found for the chorus is to turn it to 10 for a psuedo Hammond vibe....and it's iffy at that!

But, it does like pedals. So running a few choice, low gain overdrives in front of this baby brings one to blues nirvana.

I bought this as a small practice amp. Not only is it that, I could easily do small gigs with it. 25 watts may not sound like much, but it pushes the special design Fender ( Eminence? ) 12" speaker very, very well.
If you can find one

the features are fairly non-existant, its got a chorus effect, reverb, five presets, and a switch between a single or double coil sound. I've had it for about a year and have only touched the single/double coil swithch maybe twice so its pretty much useless. Its also got cd inputs which is very handy, and you can play along with anything you listen too, which I love.

Sound Quality : 7
I use a gibson explorer run through a boss heavy metal pedal because the distortion of the amp is a little weak for me and I play alot of metal so I need some real chrunch. the presets are decent, there are two cleans, two distorted and a gain-iac button, the cleans are beautifully rich and smooth, they have a very classic sound. the distortions are weak but give a great ac/dc sound. the atomic distortion button is off limits to me as if you turn it on within a country mile of the amp your eardrums will burst from the feedback. the chorus effect is nice but not enough depth. the reverb ok, nothing great. it sounds good at lower volumes but with too much low end at high volumes there is a thud sound as the speaker starts pushing air. it pops pretty bad when you shut it off too.

Reliability : 7
I popped a fuse one time. No big deal. The fender logo fell off and it got lost and that pisses me off because people think its just some old cheapo no-name amp but its a fender and I want the world to know! I would definately trust it too perform, and my only back up is my lunch box amp so I really hope she never dies on me.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never dealt with fender, I bought it used so there was no warranty either.

Overall Rating : 7
I've only been playing for 2 years so I dont really know much, but I like it. If it got stolen I would weep like a little school girl, not because its a godsend but because I'm totally broke. I love its smooth, rich clean setting but I wish it had some more chrunch. The only other amp I have is a RMS 3w lunch box amp, so I'd say my fender is better, lol. Before my buddy got his marshall stack he had a fender side kick and it really sucked the big one if you know what I mean so he used mine for a while. I think its pretty decent for what it is but it can't really be compared to one of today's mesa super amps but whatever.

This amp has the five channels or settings as mentioned by everyone. I don't know who this amp was geared toward, but it is harsh! I mean, at 25 watts if you set this amp to 11 :) you would be deaf. It has a cool clean channel, but that is about it. And make sure you kill the volume control before turning it off or the pop will blow your mom's china straight to hell. Otherwise...buy it with my blessing.

Sound Quality : 6
I use a Gibson Les Paul Special most of the time with P90s. I play blues most of the time. And I use a Standard Strat with '57-'62 pickups also. With both guitars this amp is excellent clean. But distorted, it will kill you with bright light from the white hot intensity of a thousand suns. In other words, it is not fun if you are standing within 50 yards of it at even half volume. It has fair variety, and can mix channels. The distortion is almost inaudable.

Reliability : 7
It is built like a rock. But anyone who gigs without a backup is a dirty dog. The amp is ample.

Five year warranty. Fender is absolutely huge!

Overall Rating : 6
I've played for about ten. I have lots of stuff: Gibson guitars, Marshall and Vox amps. If I lost this amp I would just hope someone would turn up the volume and play a G so I could find it no matter where it was hiding. I wish it had nicer bass response.

The amp was made in the late 1990s. Made in Mexico. The four presets are a good idea, but what I don't like about them is that you can't footswitch between them. The only distortion that is footswitchable is the lead gain (mushroom cloud setting), and it is way too much gain for my liking. It's also quite noisy and it squeals when I use a guitar with high output pickups.

Sound Quality : 6
I play several different guitars: a full hollowbody with double coils, A Strat with single coils, a Paul with double coils, a Firebird with mini humbuckers, and a pedal steel with 'soap bar' style single coils. I play hard rock, so my sound is distorted most of the time.

Overall, the amp puts out a fair amount of bottom end for its size, and I'm quite pleased with the smooth sound. The amp's distortion is good, but not real crunchy like most solid state amps. I kind of like the double/single coil switch that changes the amp's sensitivity. The two clean settings are okay, the first being somewhat fat sounding while the second is nice and bright. After trying differnt guitars with it I think the Strat sounds best, and even on the lead gain setting it sounds okay. The chorus is okay, but there is no depth control.

The amp was originally equipped with a 75 watt Fender 'blue label' speaker made by Eminence. I found the stock Eminence speaker to be papery and thuddy sounding, so I replaced it with a Celestion.

I bought it used, and so far no problems.

Never dealt with the company. There's no warranty because I bought it used.

I've been playing for almost thirty years and I've gone through several different amps. At the moment I have two other Fender amps: an Ultimate Chorus and a Princeton 112, both of which also have been refitted with Celestion speakers. I use the Princeton 112 for recording and home practice, the Ultimate Chorus for recording and gigging, and the Automatic will be good for playing in situations where I have to travel light.

Paid $135 US used at a pawnshop. Suckers. My Automatic SE of course has the same features as the others mentioned here. I play mainly classic rock/melodic rock rhythm stuff (Y&T, AC/DC etc) and trying to learn some 60s surf stuff as well. Still a student (at 40) so lots and lots of scales too. I'll concurr that I'd like to use it as a head to drive a larger cab but that's not a function (yet :)) I had another Fender amp that I foolishly sold but this one's a keeper. My family loves the headphone jack! I play in the garage and still rarely go over volume level 2 on distortion. That's loud enough to annoy the neighbors (which is the reason we play right??). 25W is more than enough power for this amp in my opinion.

Sound Quality : 9
At present I use a Fender standart strat, a Tradition strat, a Dean Icon (think PRS minus 2 grand), an Ibanez and a BC Rich Platinum Warlock. I run a Dod 4fx as well for all the cool sounds and I've never been disappointed with this amp. Small enough to carry around, fits in the trunk of my convertible, yet loud enough to scare the dogs away. Clean is VERY clean and distortion is good enough for my garage. Curt Cobain would be proud. As for all the presets, I generally only use the clean. For distortion I use the stomp box. Good all the way around.

Reliability : 10
Had it for a year now and NO problems.

This amp was made around 1998-97 i believe. It doesn't have insane metallica, or megadeth metal distortion but however with a mt-2 boss metal zone pedal stand back.It has like 5 very cool diffrent channels to play around with.I do wish it had a mid range and deeper bass. This amp when i saw it looked like a 20watter which it is but it should be labeled as 50 or even 60 .

THis amp sounds wicked clean and so so with distortion.

Same as all the other SE's, but hey guys, the 90 watts that your reading on the back of the amp is "How much wattage your can pull from the outlet it is plugged in." That's why it reads 120VAC and under that 90 watts. These are all 25 watts. No SE models where ever released with different specs. I bought this amp new for my 16 year old kid so he would leave my tube amps alone.

Squire strat. 1984 American strat with hot rail lead.

After being plugged in for 30 minutes it was time to plug in the footswitch. 30 seconds later on the Atomic Thunder channel the electronics went bezerk and started a very high pitched whine. Immediately shut the amp off and disconnected the footswitch. Turned the amp back on and the high pitched squealing would always be there with the thunder button pushed in. Took the amp back to the place of purchase and swapped it for another one. I'm still waiting to hear if the footswitch the sales guy sold me is what caused this problem. The part numbers for the footswitch that I was sold and the one the owners manual calls for are both different. Still waiting for him to hear from Fender?????? Till then, no opinion yet.

Typical Auto se...with one exception.......back in mid 98 i think it was the boosted the power from 25 to 90 watts on a limited run. I got the 90 watt. Wish it had a mid-control for mid range. Running a Fender Strat with Custom texas pickups...need more mid control

I also use a German Falsley (SP?) hollow body, tele, and a Epi Coronet handles them all great. Whats nice is the single/humbucker switch. This baby is loud enough to rattle your teeh

I think this amp was born around 99? Very versatile, from clean to hard crunch! It has 5 channels, with optional foot switch, headphone jack....no effects loop! The chorus is cool, although the reverb is not authentic sounding.I use this amp for practice at home and small gigin. The book says 25 watts...but in back of the amp it says 90 watts...this thing is f..ing loud!!!

Sound Quality : 10
I use this with my fender strat...It fits my style perfect. It`s not to noisy..except when that volcano switch is pressed...very sensitive..like on 2 it will make your ears ring!! Ive gotten some pretty cool feedback from this thing it just hums!!!
