There are two channels. One is a clean that pretty much can't be used. It's ok. However, it's nothing that I would ever use live or on a record. Maybe ok for screwing around. The distortion on this thing is amazing. I was absolutely astonished to find that fender could make anything that sounded this good. There are a few drawbacks though. There are no speaker outs. So even if you did like this amp, you would have to mike it to use it live. This sucks because there is plenty of punch to power a 412 with this thing. In my opinion this is a one trick pony. It won't give you that "Metalica tone," (Play a boogie if you want metallica) And it won't give you that "Nirvana tone" (take a Crate amp and throw it into oncoming traffic a few times if you want that sound). But if you want a great, I mean great lead tone like Satch or Vai...you owe it to yourself to check out this amp.

Like I said, the clean is not that great to my ears. It was kinda flat with no character. But the lead was so good I couldn't believe it. This is the most under rated amps I've ever played. I played this amp with a custom strat that had two Duncan 59's in it. The tone I could get out of this solid state beauty was absolutely unbelievable. It doesn't do rhythem playing that well, and it doesn't do clean, but man ! This baby sings ! I don't remember my exact settings, I had the reverb up until it gave me a nice Eric Johnson sounding echo. The contour was at about 7, and the gain bass were craked ( I think ) The treble was about 6 or 7. If you own one of these or are trying one out, please, I beg that you tweak. Good sounds are in there. Keep in mind however, that pickups are a big part of this amp. I don't know if it will sound with crappy stock Fender single coils. So try different guitars. But all you fans of good lead tone need to try this amp. Think of the nice sustaining notes on "Flying in a Blue Dream" or "For the love of God."

If you want a truly great tone in every channel (clean, crunch, lead)then by a Bogner, Soldano, Egnator, or a Hughes and Kettner. Be prepared to spend about $2000-$3000 too. I saw this thing for $200 and I was blown away by what this thing could do. Any studio musician that needs a small, affordable amp that sings should try this puppy. I'm not kidding. This amp will amaze you (provided you're not a sloppy player and you have good taste). I will say it again...This is the most under rated amp that I have ever played or heard. It has it's drawbacks, but if you need a one trick pony that does great leads, this is one killer amp.

This is your very basic solid-state, 94-watt, 12 inch speaker amp. It's got both clean and dirty channels. Low, Mid, and High for both. Reverb too. Both channel switching can be controlled by a included footswitch. It also has an effects loop and headphone jack. I only wish it had chorus.... oh well.

I play Grunge/Punk/Metal/Rock. Stuff like Metallica and Nirvana.I'm using Fender Strats, Teles, and a Takamine acoustic through this amp. Now, I have to say that the amp distorion is just crap, it's noisey and fuzzy. So I use an Ibanez SM7 for distortion. But, I find the the gain channel works pretty well and a volume boost. What I love about this amp is it's clean channel. You can get just about any clean sound out of it. The two things I don't like about this channel is that fact that it sounds like shit with my acoustic. It's really trebly and make it sound nasty. The reverb is also a little on the noisey side.

This is a 2 channel amp (clean and gain) with master reverb. It's rated at 94 watts, has footswitch controls for channel switching and reverb on/off. It's got 2 inputs, but you really only want to use the first input. Do NOT hook up two guitars to this amp. It's also got pre-amp out and a power-amp jacks for hooking up effects. I assumed this would operate like most effects loops, but after looking at the schematic of the amp, it does not. The purpose of an effects loops is generally to apply things like chorus and delay AFTER any distortion has been applied by other pedals and/or the ampplifier itself. If you use a delay pedal BEFORE distortion, you get what is univerally accepted as a horrible sound. Sadly, the pre-amp in/out stage of the amp is really "pre" amplification. All the effects will be processed BEFORE the gain is applied. So, you can use a delay pedal or a chorus pedal with this amp on the clean channel, but not on the gain channel.
This is ok with me, but it makes the amp a little less veritle then it otherwise could have been. It would have really taken little effort and no cost for this to have been done properly. Does anyone know what the purpose of this pre-amp in/out is and why you would need this
as opposed to just patching the effects on your chain before you even patch into the amp? Anyway, the two channels are both usable for clean to moderately distorted volumes. If you are looking for a heavy metal amp, you should probably buy a marshall tube amp. But if you like to play the blues and you don't want to shell out for a tube amp but still need to be loud, this is a fine amp to use.

I'm playing a Heritage H-140CM with two humbuckers. I play mostly blues and "hippie" rock I suppose, with a little REM/U2 type stuff thrown in there. Although I don't actually like REM/U2, I find myself playing in that style every now and again, kinda weird. Anyway, this amp is pretty good as you can get some nice tones out of it if you set it up right. If you keep the clean channel low, at 2-3 and use the neck pickup a humbucking guitar at 10, with the reverb on 10, you will get a NICE, bubbley, very Jazzy tone. You aren't gonna sound exactly like Grant Green or George Benson, but it's a sweet tone for playing clean lead. If you keep the gain moderately low (2-3) and the reverb on 7, gain chaneel volume at 3, and your guitar at between 7-10, you will get a nice, bluesly lead tone. Once again, you arne't gonna sound like SRV, but you will sound more like YOU, and that's what this amp will help you to do. Once again, it's not a 60s erra VOX tube amp, but it;s a 90s solid state amp with ALOT of power behind it. So don't assume you will sound like Santana playing through it (although some guy told me I had the "Santana Tone" playing though it just last night, but he wasn't exactly sober :-) but it's not a bad little amp buy any means. In terms of it's cost and for what it is, this amp is like an 8-9 for tone, but compared to a Mesa Boogie Heartbreaker it's about a 3. That's not really a fair comparison tho so, for the money I'll give it an 8.

I haven't had it long enough to really find out. Now, to address some peoples complaints about picking up radio stations on it. DON'T USE CHEAP PATCH CABLES. They are not shielded and are acting as antenae. The amp is solid state (i.e. like a transistor radio) so if you hook up an antenna to it of course you will pick of radio stations cause you are turning it into a freaking radio. Also, follow the manual and use a stereo type patch NOT a coax guitar type patch for the footswitch.

I've been playing guitar about 6-7 years now, but only playing electric for little while. Well, to clarify that, I've played electrics, but I never owned one myself, just played through whatever equipement was left in my basement after rehersals. That said, I've used a 100 Watt Marshall Half Stack, Peavy 112 Stereo, TONS of crappy little 15 watts solid state jobbies, Fender Princeton Chorus etc etc. To be honest I don't think I'd replace this with another 112 plus right about, but a 90 watt solid state amp has it's purpose in your arsenal of gear (unless you want to be in a death metal cover band, then you don't want this amp) and this is a very good one. I really like the clean channel with the reverb cranked for a jazzy tone.

The features are addressed in the previous reviews. They are basic, and that is probably better suited to most players in this day of processors, digital effects, etc. The headphone jack makes this ideal for use as a practice amp, which is what I think this amp honestly is. The lack of a jack for an extension strikes me as Fender's way of telling us that they intended this to be a practice amp. (I had my tech rig up a plug so I could hook up an extension. The sound definitely improved with a Fender 1 x 15" extension.) Footswitch controls channel selection and reverb. It is adequate.
I play lots of 60's covers, power pop and lots of power chord, guitar hook driven material(early Kinks, early Who, The Clash, The Jam,etc.) This amp is good for low-to-moderate output, single coil pickups played clean. It does not do justice to my Rickenbacker or my humbucker guitars.
It has a surprising amount of power for a lightweight, compact amp...enough to hold its own during practices, but let's not confuse power with good sound.

I think this amp does a poor job of delivering a humbucker's sounds. It does a decent - but not great - job with single coil pick-up Fender guitars played clean...like my American Standards - one a Strat and the other a Tele. On the other hand, my Epiphones and Gibson's sound very bland. This amp does not do them justice. Two exceptions: the bridge pickups on my Gibson SG standard and Epiphone Les Paul standard both have a nice "growl" at one particular setting.
The clean channel distorts as you near 8 on the volume. And it concerns me because the speaker sounds like it is being pushed a little too hard. That volume level also starts to expose the tonal quality limitations of the 1 x 12 set-up.
Like other reviewers, I think the distortion leaves something to be desired. It lacks a fullness to its tone. It sounds one dimensional -all midrange. The distortion has no bottom end and no highs. "Brutal"...on the ears! This may be the amplifier which best demonstrates what a solid state amp can lack vs. a tube amp. When playing live, I would not use this amp for anything that involves distortion.

This is the amp's strength. I have had it four years and taken it on numerous practice gigs. I also almost exclusively use it when I just want to practice on my own. Never had a problem. I have brought this amp to live gigs just in case I needed a back-up, but never needed to use it. As a practice amp, it has never broken down on me.
I have one concern: when you shut it off, it makes a loud popping sound. Sounds like a capacitor discharging. Not good, but it has not given me any trouble...yet.

I've been playing 22 years. I own 11 electric guitars. I have played tons of amps over the years. I have owned LAB SERIES and AMPEG amps before, and currently own a CRATE GX-140D. I think it a mistake to expect any one amp (or guitar) to be able to do everything well, but I think this amp just falls a little too short in too many areas. The clean channel is O.K. The distortion channel leaves much to be desired. The inability to hook up an extension handcuffs you from doing one of the things that might help the sound.
On the other hand, the Fender Deluxe 112 Plus has proven itself a reliable practice amp. I am definitely going to keep it as a practice amp, for which I think it is good, and as a backup. However, I think it has too many tonal limitations to be your frontline amp.
If this amp were lost or stolen, I would buy something else.

I use a Jackson Ps-4 trans which is the best guitar i have ever owned. unfortunately with this amp the qualities of the guitar just sink without a trace. The clean channel is largely unusable unless u pluck the strings with a feather. Once u put the volume up and give it a whack u get this HORRIBLE high end quack. Also when u use effects through the clean channel with a lot of bass at high volume u get this farting noise when the speaker f*cks up.
The dirty channel is fairly weak. If u want slightly bluesy type stuff then this is ideal. However, if u are a metal type of player then u will HATE this thing with a passion. There is no crunch at all, just a buzzing that sounds like it's broken. Without back-up from pedals the distortion sounds crap and then with pedals u get noise that no amount of compressors will get rid of. The channel by itself is pretty noisy, with reverb it's a fucking nightmare. It sludges everything up when i record.
At high volume u have to do all sorts of shit to make sure u get the right sound - TOO MUCH FU**ING HASSLE.

Broke in the first six months. Don't know what the fuck it was. However, i am fairly abusive with my equipment and do play at continuously loud volumes with lots of power going in the front end so maybe it was just me. Has never given me to many significant hassles but now and again it might throw a tantrum which is just not cool.

I have been playing for a while and the amp has been with me for a few years. The reason i have kept it is cuz i'm a student and can't afford to buy another amp. It has taken me maybe two years to start finding REALLY good tones which is shit considering i could plug into a crate and get the same tone in about 30 seconds. I play metal/hardcore mixed with electronica and although i don't have what u'd call a traditional metal crunch tone, this amp is no good for anything heavier than indie music like Oasis or some lame sh*t like that. WAnt something with balls? Go buy a Marshall.

I think this amp was made in 1997. It's pretty versatile but It doesn't really suit the kinds of music that I play (punk, emo, ska, hardcore)THis amp has got 2 channels, clean and dirty, headphone jack and a bunch of other useless stuff
THis thing has a contour knob which I think is kinda cool, it changed the o.d. from blues to death metal.
THis amp suits me well, i use it mostly for practising because i don't have a band yet. This baby has got 90 watts which is plenty or too much for this little amp. oh and it's a solid state

I'm playing an epiphone lp with stock pickups and the clean channel sounds incredible, it really sparkles, which is good for some ska, and emo. BUt then theirs the o.d. channel which I say just sux poop for punk, or actually almost anything besides blues. Clean channel stays clean until you get to about three then it kinda makes this growling rumbling sound which is umpleasant, but that's with humbuckers and playing power chords. When you set the gain higher it gets really crappy. THere's absolutely no crunch, it gives this crappy fuzzy buzzing sound. I thought it might've been my guitar but I goto play through a valvestate 100 marshall stack hooked up with a dod tec 4 and it blew this thing away. If you want killer distortion stay away from this thing

But if you want the best from both worlds, try taking a look from something else like a fender roc pro 1000 which have killer distortion.

I don't know when the amp was made but I got it in July of 1998. It works great for what I play. I play a mix of alternative and progressive rock. I like to call it alternaprog. The clean channel sounds great with me Strat. Thats a given. The distortion channel is pretty good if you know how to work the knobs right. Sometimes the sound gets boring after a while so you gotta keep turnin the knobs. I wish it had a chorus but its not a big deal cause I got a Danelectro Chorus pedal that sounds fabulous. Its got plenty of power for me, if not more then enough. I can't wait to do an outdoor gig, so I can crank this bitch up.

I use a strat with the middle pickup probably 80% of the time. It sounds great and maybe some of the not so hot sounds out of the distortion channel are due to the somewhat bland stock pickups, oh well, when I can afford it, I'm gettin Duncans. It works great for my style of playing. It isn't that noisy to me, but then I don't know much about noise. The clean channel just sounds great. The distortion channel can sound great in numerous ways. The contour is the pivotal control. It can make or break the sound. with it past 8 it gets too staticy and mushy. So I mainly have it at about 7.5. The bass is usually at about 8 and the treble at 5 but from what I've found, those two make little difference on the distorted channel. The gain is usually at about 7 or or so. The distortion is good if you set it right. I used to use a Boss DS-1 distortion pedal for all of my distortion but then the batteries ran out so I was forced to try the amp's distortion. I played with it for a while and found a great setting. NOw the pedal sounds really bad to me. Its too icky. The only way it could be a 10 would be to be a tube amp.

If it were stolen I would probably get something better, something tube. But at the time I got it, it was the best I could afford and is still one hell of an amp. I like the versatility of the distortion channel, theres alot of sounds in there, you just gotta coax them out. I give it a 9. It is probably the best you can get for a middle price range solid state amp. I want a tube amp now.

A 90 watt solid state floor amp with 1 twelve inch speaker. It has alot of knobs.2 channels (clean, distorted) 2 inputs I'm still not sure why, #1 is the only one to use ,#2 sounds like crap, and dont even think about plugging into both.Basically both channels have volume and a 3 band eq, the distorted channel has a gain level, and there is 1 reverb knob for both channels. It has four 1/4" jacks.1 for foot switch (switches channels and reverb on/off), 1 for head phones, and preamp out, and power amp in.

If you're a beginner to intermediate player and you like playing blues,or good times rock & roll then this amps for you.If you're a metal head like me and you love that thick, saturated, heavily distorted brutal crunch, stay far away. You wont get that sound without a pedal, and evan with a pedal you wont be able to turn it up very loud because the speaker is so pussy it gets fuzzy and muffled if you turn it much past 2.The clean channel is alright. It's got that typical clean fender tone.

I use this amp with a Fender Strat w/Deltatones. I play punk/grunge/metal/blues/rock kinda stuff and its great for all of it. Turn the gain and contour down and you get a real nice blusey sound. Turn the gain and contour up and you get a smooth heavy distortion that you can use for metal and punk kinda stuff. It dosen't have as much crunch as I'd like but it's not a huge deal. This amp is also loud as hell. If you just practicing around the house, you don't even need to turn in up past one before the whole house can hear it.
