This is my second review, after having the amp for 5 years, it's my main man, and does it all!!! Loaded with features from treble. bass, mids on both channels to effects loop with a foot switchable on/off, to 1/4 output, that's basically an attenuator, that allows it to get Vox-ish cleans without blowing the roof off.Global Presebce..I love I need a presence !!!It's got a lush reverb tremelo, and tilt back legs....TILT BACK LEGS are the best thing since it keeps the amp from blasting the listener and gives you the sound right in the players face!!100% tube driven sound with speaker out....is there anything it can't do. Hard rock to funk to blues, once folks hear it they want to buy one....Plug it in and play no pedals except delay & 1987 Pro Roc RAT. BOOM Baby!

Sound Quality : 10
Teles, strats, Les Pauls, Gretsch 6120 ....all sound great. It's got that great Fender sound to a British Vox/Orange on the clean with the 1/4 output{12.5 Watts} on and volume 4-5.Sufficient for all of the club settings I do!!! The Overdrive Channel I've Learned to apprciate after totally hating it, but I still use the Rat to get my overdrive lead hard rock sounds...quite as a church mouse.Thing weighs over 70 lbs, but I belive that's what makes it sound so great, it really ruffles the bellbottoms and souls of all around cause it rocks the floorboards!!!

Reliability : 5
Yeah, it craps out 1 or twice.I always have a back up!!! The modern Fender stuff is quite questionable but any tube amp is going to give you problems, MINE have ..I've had peavey shut down I've had Oranges turn off and my fenders have crapped out ....it's tubes, baby bring a back up.

Customer Support : 8
5 year warranty bring it to your dealer, have a couple of back ups.Hey I'm a Pub Bar band loser, I break my back to play AC/DC,Radiohead,ColgPlay,U2, Stones/Black Crowes for Drunks 'n Punks....it's my muse. But Fender isn't endorsing me, 5 year warranty is pretty good and odds are you'll need it at some point to get someyhing sodered or re-wired.I 'have with all my ammps and I treat 'em better than I treat my wife!!

Overall Rating : 10
Been playing over 35 years. It's always a tone quest for that Fender sound. I like bell like chime cleans and I like heavy Page-like Hammers. I've bought an Orange ad30 thinking that was the Holy Grail, know what?!?...it got me back to my in-expensive Fender Pro Tube Pro Reverb...the best kept secret out there. Those Hot Rod series suck, I don't know why the Pro Tube Stuff gets panned, and the Hot rod keeps getting produced, I'm sure they have a better profit margin. Hey if you wanted to steal this amp better eat your Wheaties an bring a friend cause if I catch ya........

Read all the comments made on this amp...My view is speaking about just how everybody that has something good to say about this amp is true.
The Fender Pro Tube Pro Reverb 112 Combo is one of those little secrets that alot of people don't know about...kinda like the Evil super 60 amps Fender makes. ( great amp I have no idea why they replaced it with the blues deville that has terrible drive channels which help create the rumor that channel switching amps are not good in the tone area)
A lot of people write about how the good old days are with all the old ****. Well sure that old **** was good back in the 50s and 60's but lots of people are being misled. There happens to be very good channel switching amps out there that will blow away all that Aspen Pitman crap-talk about old amps sound the best...hey time marches on.

The Fender Pro Tube Pro Reverb 112 Combo is one of those channel select amps that does this. The clean side is just as great as Fenders 50 and 60's stuff.....and the drive side will respone with different drive 12ax tubes. Drive tube will make it sound more drive or tube screamer sounding...The Blues devilles do not repone with different tubes. They sound the same in the drive stage...not matter what you put in them. They are wired different then the Evil series and the Pro Tube Pro Reverb series. It is ashame that fender left these to styles of amps they have made in the dust and replace them with reissues of old school stuff that sounds like crap.

The new Pro and Evil series were built by people who understood tone.
Where the devilles were built to sell cheap....and that what it is cheap.

I am sure that Fender *(and other companies)probably has a few more modern sleeps as these two are...( the the twin reverb refur to as " The Twin" is another great channel switching amp.. With the right pedals it is extremity versatile...even with out pedals the Fender Pro Tube Pro Reverb 112 Combo two channels and other features this amp has in it is still over versatilely then any old school amp could ever be!

Sound Quality : 10
The amp has enough controls on it to please any kind of guitar pickups....you would have to be tone dead to not be able to get great tone out of this amp's channels. Even if the amp has little funny hums or small weird sounds...when you play man...there all gone...Remember pedals make noise too...so for example one brand of chorus pedal may sound better then the others...experiment with all types of drive and sound pedals. The true by pass ones work the best...but even a cheap pedal will sound ok in this amp...just take your time with it...the controls on the amp are very sense a tive. Don't treat them like on and off switches. The clean side stays clean pretty far up the volume spectrum. It will distort all the way up..but it's a fairly clean attractive sound. If the volume is too low then the sound is just smothered. Start your volume at five and dial the rest to suit....then find your high clean volume and your lowest volume...the amp even has a switch to cut power in half for those that like evey thing on 10......

Reliability : 9
It a Fender...need I say more? And even if you can't get in touch with Fender for a problem...there is always an amp tec that can fix it...hell everybody that knows how to repair a tube amp has more then likely learned their trade on a Fender tube amp! Sorry 9 for the tubes...but just pay attention to the sound...tubes will let you know when they need to be replaced.....

Customer Support : No Opinion
Like I said...most shops can fix a Fender...so the hell with trying to deal with Fender...you will most likely be talking to machines that will direct you round and round.....

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I been playing for 40 years...but I play all old school stuff...every thing before the 80's and no metal. The Fender Pro Tube Pro Reverb 112 Combo nails everything I play. My list of what I play is long...all the blues cats...and all the heavy guitar players of the sixties and some of the seventies. Sorry no Vanhalen....

I have used this amp in major recordings and movies and have had excellent results. It is very pedal friendly and depending on the texture you want you can you can dial it in. The lead channel is not used by me much as I use different pedals but when I have used it I got excellent results. I did change out the speaker (junk!) to a JBL D-120 and NOS GE tubes and side by side with my 1965 Pro Reverb you couldn't tell the difference

Sound Quality : 9
The vibrato is less than it's predecessors but is acceptable. I have a slight feedback in the reverb passed 4. I play all styles as I am a studio musician and I have used Fender,Gibson, Gretsch, Mosrite single and double coils and everything sounded beautiful.

Reliability : 9
The only problem I have had with this amp is the tiny fuse that they place in the amp and it is a real bitch to find a replacement for it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Warranty ran out so good luck

I am 57 and have been a studio musician and staff song writer in LA for over 30 years and have recorded with many major acts and have written many movie and TV sound tracks. If it was made between 1964 and now I have probably owned one. This amp gets all the Fender sparkle plus. I don't know why these PRO Tube amps haven't gotten more attention because they are jewels in the shadows. Change the junk speaker out and find the best tubes and you will have a winner!

Exactly what I am looking for:
Tubes
Gain Channel
Clean Fender Blackface channel
Fantastic Fender Reverb Tank Sound
The Tremelo for those surf & Baritone (yes I even play Baritone Guitar through this)
Gain channel & switching isgreat
Effect Loop
Only thing this amps needs is a direct XLR Output - it'd save me a microphone onstage
GREAT Crunchy Rhythm Sound
Great Fender Amp - as heavy as a Twin (almost) but much more versatile
1/4 power switch( 12 watt output down from 50 watt) is excellent for small clubs - and volume conscious stage setups or rehearsal.

I play mostly an early 70's Les Paul Deluxe with the sweet mini humbucking pickups and it allows the guitar to sing.

I also play lap steel and Baritone through it. I'm looking forward to the day when I put the Pedal Steels through it for recording.

Tilt back legs and casters (easily removed) lots of back panel controls and connections

Sound Quality : 10
Single twelve inch speaker in an open back cabinet works for me Fender Middle tone control & presence both present on this amp
The tones out of this amp are musical. plenty loud enough, distortion is the right shape and has classic tube sound that I wanted it doesn't get snarly but drop in an effects pedal or four and it'll tear your head off. I play Steel &&2nd guitar in a rocking country band. And also play Steel / Baritone & Lap Steel in a smaller honky tonk group.

Guitars I've used with this amp are:
1972 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe with mini humbuckings, 1974 Fender Telecaster with bridge humbucking and bridge tele single coil, Danelectro Baritone, Gretsch Electromatic Lap Steel, Emmons LeGrande II & III and ShoBud Super Pro II Pedal Steel Guitars (2nd amp in stero set up for the Pedal Steels...Primary Amp is Fender Steel King (Solid State and 300 watts of crisp power)

I play country / rock / honky tonk & Twang & Bang

Reliability : 10
I depend on this amp 2 - 4 times a week for 4 or 5 hours a nite playing a couple of sets in a larger hienergy country band
It's been perfect

Customer Support : 10
My local Fender Dealer is Absolutely Great!

He deals with Fender
5 Year Warranty will be the breakin period for this amp - it should last forever.

Overall Rating : 10
I have several Fender Amps including
Steel King
Cyber Champ
Acoustasonic Junior
Late 70's Twin Reverb
Older Yamaha G112R
Roland Cube 30 & 60
Behringer Keyboard Amp

It's heavy but worth every friggin pound for the sound it emits for me.

I wish it had an XLR Direct Output for live connection on stage direct from premamp Line/Recording out is not the same.
I went in thinking I wanted a Deluxe Reverb but my Dealer steered ,mypurchase correctly - I got the Reissue 65 Deluxe Sound in a more powerful, versatile, lusher sounding amp. I'm tickled down to my wah-wah pedal

1 X 12 Pro Reverb, Two Channel W/Effects Loop and 1/4 power switch. I use the 1/4 power switch to get some good bedroom level SRV tone.

Sound Quality : 9
I sold all my Mesa rack gear and purchased a 64 Vibroverb (reissue) and this Pro Reverb at the same time. I have Strats with single coil pickups. I use the neck position almost always and sometimes position #2.

I get great sound coming off the Pro's effects loop into a Digiverb pedal, then sending one signal back to the Pro and the other to the Vibroverb (bright switch off in this configuration). This way the channel switching on the Pro feeds the Vibroverb. I have read poor reviews on the gain channel on the Pro but I get great bedroom level SRV tone using a TS-808 with drive at 50%, tone at max, and the Pro's gain channel set at 9. For live-level sound back off the TS-808 tone to 50% and set the Pro's gain to 6.5. I get creamy almost Mesa-like gain/sustain off the Pros gain channel, very SRV like.

The clean channel is great too, with the TS-808 at 50% drive it gives that just-broken-up blues tone. I dont notice a huge difference in tone quality between the channels. I can play clean rhythms and kick off into smoking/screaming leads ala Jeff Healey or SRV. I play with a practice band witout the Vibroverb, so the Pro is more than enough by itself.

I think the tremolo is useless, but thats not a big deal.

It's HEAVY! Not easy to haul around.

Messing with the effects loop send/return pots really affects the tone, lots of variations possible. A very versitile amp.

Using the 1X12 Pro and 1X15 Vibroverb really gives a full bodied sound, but it's expensive to buy both these amps.

The Pro alone is more than you will need to gig and sound really good.

No issues so far.

5 Year warranty, havent had to deal with Fender yet.

Overall Rating : 9
Been playing for 20+ years, started with 80's metal and then got into SRV. Mesa gear can really shred & sustain, but try to get "Texas Tone" out of a 50 Caliber or Triaxis and you will be tweaking forever. I just have moved on I guess, and now I love Strats and Fender amps. I can A/B the Pro with the Vibroverb and I can clearly hear SRV in the 64 Vibroverb more than the Pro, but the creamy sustaining overdrive channel in the Pro rocks!!

I was originally trying to decide between buying a '65 Twin or an "Evil" Twin (Pro-Tube Series) when I came across this amp. It has the same Blackface clean tones found in a Twin, though the added gain channel is what sets it apart. The slightly smaller size also appealed to me. The vibrato is classic Fender and the tube-driven reverb is much sweeter than regular solid-state reverb. I rarely use the 1/4 power setting, for it really cuts back on the overall tone. The effects loop, however, is awesome. It has variable input and output levels which allows you to crank the volume up (getting a hot tube sound) while turning the effects loop levels down and lessening the overall output. In other words, you can get great tube tone without the loud volumes generally associated with that tone. All in all, this is one of the most versatile amps Fender makes.

Sound Quality : 10
I usually play my American Strat with this amp, and it provides a great ballsy blues tone. I've also used it on stage with my industrial band and the drive channel was thick enough to handle that. Recently I've been setting the drive channel gain at "2", turning up the treble and bass, leaving the mid low and cranking up the volume. This creates a very old-school tube-driven Fender tone remniscent of the early Blackface amps. It's like a built in Tube Screamer, right in your amp. I love it.

Reliability : 8
I bought this amp used and I had a few problems early on. The 1/4 power switch can cause problems if switched while the amp is on. The manual says nothing about this, though my friend at the guitar store informed me that the amps should be switched off (or at least left on stand-by) before switching the wattage.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Any problems I've had with this amp were solved by the store where I bought it. I've never had to deal with Fender myself.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing for over twelve years and this is by far my favorite amp. I can't imagine ever having to buy another.

Mine is a 2002. I bought it used and in near mint condition. I have owned it for a few years and I am currently using it in a 70's Funk, 60's Motown cover band. The amp works great in this type of situation and has more than enough features for gigging out. I don't use the 1/4 power switch as this amp sounds the best all out. It's loud for a 1-12 combo, espeacially in the clean channel which is without doubt pure Blackface. The reverb can be a little noisy comapred to the older Fender's and I keep mine set just under 2. The coolest feature is the foot switchable effects loop. It has volume knobs and I use mine as a lead boost in both channels. I run some delay off the loop to fatten up the leads and a Vox wah pedal out in front and that's it.

The amp is very heavy if weight is a concern. It comes with caster's but if you play with them on it will rattle.

Sound Quality : 9
I play a Custom Shop Relic 60's strat, 72 Reissue strat with Fralin 54's and a Les paul Classic with Burstbuckers through it. First the clean channel: I fell in love with a 69 Bandmaster Reverb at Guitar Center. Should of bought it right then but I didn't. When I came to my senses two days later it was gone. Shopped around for a few more months when I spotted this amp and fell in love again. Not as lush as the Bandmaster but really close with more modern features. I feel that this amp has more going on compared to the Twin Reverb reissues which tend to be a little sterile sounding. The sound from the Pro Reverb again is basically a brighter sounding Blackface tone which is exactly what is was designed to be. I think Fender really hit a bullseye with it. I also own a Prosonic that I recently bought cheap from a friend and the Pro Reverb is brighter, rounder, and more Fender sounding to me. This could be attributed to the special design Jensen speaker verses the Celestion's in the Prosonic.

The drive channel is very usable if you keep it down under 4. Anything over that and it strats to get thin and buzzy. With the strat's I keep the gain at 2 so that there is not a big tonal difference in the channels. Think Fender sparkle and Texas Blues. With the Les Paul I'll up the gain to 4 and it crunches nicely for a classic rock sound. Will not do metal or even hard rock. Better look elsewhere as this ain't your gig. Also it does not respond well to overdrive pedals. As far as volume I usually run it on 5 1/2 for the clean channel and 6 1/2 on the drive channel. This where you just start to push it. With the effects channel tweaked up for leads you are ready for it all.

Reliability : No Opinion
Knock on wood I never had a problem with it. It's only been a few years so we will see.

Again, don't know at this point.

Overall Rating : 10
I really love this amp and if it holds up??? I plan on keeping it to the bitter end. Still would love to find that Bandmaster and run them in stereo as they would compliment each other nicely. A good strat through this amp is all you need to cover blues, funk, motown. Can do some rock with a humbucker equipted guitar.

It seems from the other reviews that this amp is judged unfairly on some of it's short commings, such as the noisy reverb and it's over the top drive channel. It is not a rock amp and the drive channel was not designed to get screaming leads like a Mesa or Marshall. If you set this amp up like a Fender should be, it should not disappoint. If you try and make it do what it was not designed to do then it will let you down in a hurry. Accept it for what it is...it's a fender.

This is a beautiful amplifier. It is a little heavy, but the construction obviously plays a part in its tonal characteristics. It came with casers, which helps solve the weight issue. I like the built-in stand too. I do not use the gain channel because I find it to have far less tone compared to the clean channel. It is very loud even on the low power setting. It has a lot of features that I do not use. I primarily use the clean channel because why else would you buy a Fender? I believe this amp is discontinued too...

Sound Quality : 8
I am not a big fan of the sound. My mids are very dead and my highs can be a little piercing. I heard that the Fender Groove Tubes are junk, so I would probably change them out if I were planning on keeping this amp. I heard changing out the factory tubes does wonders for the sound

Reliability : 10
I would have no problem going on tour with this amp. It is built like a tank.

Never had to deal with Fender.

I have been playing for almost 20 years. I am a big fan of tube amplifiers. This is my third tube amplifier. It is noisy compared to my Marshall JCM 800 50 watt head and cab, but it is a lot quieter than the Peavey 5150 combo I use to have. I don't think I would buy this amp again. Not because it is a bad amp, but rather I can find a better sounding amp for a fraction of the cost (VOX AC30CC). I chose this amp because I really liked the sound at the time and it was a great purchase at the price. It is in mint condition so I couldn't pass it up. I am trying to trade my way up to something that suits my style a little more. If you?re into country or blues, this amp is for you....

Not sure of the year. 2 channels, and a boat load of other stuff. Coolest feature is the 1/4 power switch, I will comment on that later. Plenty of power for anything. 50 watts tube is huge. Outdoor use full power, practice use 1/4 power, small club 1/4 power, larger full power. Great. I should use the tremolo more but it is weak in 1/4 power mode. You can use the effects loop for a volume boost. Great. This is also footswithchable which is cool. I gig, and practice with the band with this amp. This is important because this is not a bedroom review of this amp. I have owned it for two years.

Sound Quality : 9
I use my tele, Strat, SG and Les Paul with this amp.

I am dissapointed that the reverb is noisy. I have tried new and different tubes with no luck. Luckily I only notice it at home. Not noticeable during a gig or practice. I now have Svetlana power tubes and a mixture of GT, EH, Sovtek and JJ for the preamp. I did not like the JJ in any postion V1-V4. The Phase Inverter postion is a good EH or GT I just can't remember. Just an opinion on the JJ.

What kind of sounds? I use the amp primarily in 1/4 power mode. I use the gain channel more than clean so I start there. All EQ to start at 5 and then I make small minor adjustments. Gain anywhere 3-7 depending on the song but most of the time 4-5 works for me. Very important here is the volume needs to be at 5-6 in my opinion. In 1/4 power mode this is not loud. When you are at 3 you can hear your amp but it sounds thin. Push it up and it doesn't necessarily get louder the sound gets fuller. I never hear a complaint even from a girl singer at this volume. In fact I get compliments on the warm sound. Great. I read so many reviews that mention only eq settings and complain about fizziness. Guess what bedroom warriors gain setting 10 and low volume equals fizz. I find I can get sounds and sounds I like by concentrating on the gain and volume controls. The presence knob helps bring the sound forward but I don't over use it or else you sound a little brittle. I may also use the tone knob on the guitar to back off a little brightness if necessary.

The clean channel is just that "clean". There is volume difference between the gain and clean channel so I usually have the clean volume set lower than the gain channel. It is really the best clean in a modern amp I have used. I don't hear any breakup at the volume levels I use. Push it to 10 it breaks up. You can get the same effect on a low gain setting on channel 2 so use this channel for good clean sounds it can produce.

Does the amp sound like Ace playing a Marshall live. No. Does the amp sound like SRV. No. If you played their exact equipment you wouldn't sound like them anyway. Does it do Mesa high gain smoothness. No but darn close. Is it something different and good. Hell yes. If you play in a cover band you can come really close to the sounds you need. I use a TS9 DX to push the gain up nicely for high gain modern rock and it works well. It does high-medium gain Weezer or EMO rock well on its own.

The amp is perfect for me. I don't want to muscle around 4x12's. I play local gigs and don't need to impress anyone with my huge rig. I just need to sound good. This amp is it for me.

Reliability : 7
I bought it used and did not replace any tubes initially. I experienced a power tube failure during a gig. This was my fault. \

I had another problem with the channel switching. The amp would make no sound when I switched to channel 2. Something was replaced by tech. and now it works.

I am concerned about something right now. When I transport the amp and then start it up in standby to warm up I hear a buzz from the back of the amp. If I switch to the clean channel during the warm up it goes away. If someone reads this and knows what the issue is please e-mail me. I don't want to send it away again unless I have to.

The tubes are my fault, the other two issues are not my fault. I will need to give a lower rating.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have had no reason to contact Fender. Good local service centers.

Overall Rating : 9
I am 36 and have been playing 20 years. I might try something else if the amp were stolen but I am not sure what could offer me this satisfaction for $800.

I have used solid state Fender amps before. Good to practice with but nothing beats tube stuff for gigs and for overall tone quality. I have used a Hot Rod Deluxe. Way too loud. I was at less than 1 on volume and still wanted a little less. If a Hot Rod had a quarter power switch that would be ideal. The Hot Rod clean is really good but the gain was tough to work with. Not even close to what the Pro Reverb offers.

Don't buy this wanting Marshall closed back tone. Fork over the money for the Marshall then try to sell it because you only get that sound at stadium volume levels. I have not used the Hotplates so maybe that does the trick. I have a Marshall Artist head and cabinet and it is a lower watt (30) with a phase inverter 12AX7 and EL34 power tubes but solid state preamp circuit. It does the Marshall thing but still needs to be too darn loud for that good full tone.

This is really good and well worth the money if purchased used. Not sure I would pay the $1000+ for this new. I might try a Dr. Z or Mesa combo if that were the case. I have no experience with those so I can not tell you if they are better or not. I really could not live without the lower power setting. Any new amp I buy must have this. I am not an old fart saying "too loud" I am saying full tone at useable gig and practice levels.

Used under $800 the rating is a 9 above $1000 still a 9 but I don't know. I say 9 because I am happy with it.
