These were made late '90's to maybe 2000 - the Golden Era in amps, in my opionion, before they went cheap. Mine was made in Mexico - used in mint shape. Yes, Fender finally designed a great distortion channel! All the reviews below are right on. I think some of these amps were defective right out of the box due to cold solder joints - which can be an easy fix for any amp repair guy. If you have a working use one, it'll probably last.

Sound Quality : 10
The full size open back cab with the 12" Fender speaker adds great depth to the sound. I really don't hear any need to swap out the stock speaker, but it won't hurt if you do (keep the original speaker). The spring reverb is classic Fender. The clean channel has a nice Fender fullness while the distortion channel with two gain stages is AWESOME. This amp gets very loud on the initial volume settings: 3-5. After that, it gets louder, but not much - just they way the pots work. Sounds great low and loud.

Reliability : 10
Like I said, cold solder joints. I have a Mexican Fender Princeton Chorus and never had a problem with it 6 years.

I own Marshalls, a Crate, B-52, Laney, and Rocktron. I have two Marshall VS -100 heads, so I'm very particular about distortion. The Fender Roc Pro 1000 can give you every distortion you'll ever need. Period. It'a shame they stop making these amps (also the Marshall VS 100 which are tone monsters), because that little preamp tube can do so much! I've also have gone through many, many amps to get where I'm happy with what I have. Been playing 35 years, so I'm no novice.

First of all I'd just like to say how cool all you guys out there to give your time and knowledge reviewing equipment and passing on comments.

I bought this super little fender on ebay (UK) €82 what a bargain.
Versatile and light, I'm fed up with carrying Marshall stacks.
If you use a valve head and cabs just try this out you will be blown away. Ok its no boutique amp but I think its better than my Hughes & Kettner Switchblade head.

Effects loop is great I use this for my Delay, Boss eq and noise gate, the other pedals wah, tuner, overdrive thru amp input. You dont really need the noise gate but you do need to place youre send and return leads carefully to avoid the hum from transformer.
There is a big volume difference from the 2 gain controls (Lead channel) The red channel being better for cleaning up your lead sound but switching to the amber seems a big volume drop. I get around this with my Boss graphic thru fx loop to kick in solos and simply switch between the clean and the red channel.

I play rock....Deep Purple ZZ Top Queen and its great for that and its clean sound is good but not like a Tweed Fender.
Rehearsals and gigs brill

If it was a practise amp it would have a headphone jack.
Must be gigged, to loud for home practise.

Sound Quality : 9
Try this little beasty with a 2x12 cab underneath it and wow. I used a Peavey Wolfgang thru it and it just sang all nite. The Malmsteen Strat was good but needs a fair amount of extra overdrive from the Marshall guvnor. Pre volume 8 master 4 - 5 and its really steaming.
On Pariesenne Walkways I hit that sustained bend and held it for 3mins cool or what!!!
Clean is dead clean, being a solid state power amp you would expect it to be. The pre amp valve only works on the lead channel/s.
Not noisy unless you are using fx loop.. Careful where you place the leads behind the amp.

Reliability : No Opinion
I,ve only had it a couple of weeks. I never take a back up amp, I take 2 or 3 guitars

Customer Support : No Opinion
Not broken down yet...

Overall Rating : 10
I bought this amp without even trying it out first..Ebay
I did look in here for the very helpful reviews first and thought if I dont like it sell it back on ebay.

Try this...Marshall head and 4x12 cab and the little fender roc with a 2x12 underneath. You will be shocked. I'm selling my Switchblade.

I wouldnt have a prob paying €200 for one of these or is that $400 in US

I've been playing 30 years plus.
Other stuff I own..Gibsom les paul fender strat, musicman axis, 2 Wolfgangs fender Bass Guitar, Gibson flying V..Amps Marshall DSL, Gallien Krueger 250ML Hughes & Kettner Switchblade Head, H&K 60watt Audition Combo cool for tiny gigs, Marshall 30 Boss Pedal Board + Senheinser transmitter system.

fantastic, over looked 3 channel amp with clean, overdrive 1 and overdrive 2 channels with reverb, all footswitched. delivers 100W RMS. Mine's a limited edition RED covered amp from 1996 (50 yrs of fender) and it's the second one iv'e had. As fender tranny amps go this leaves them all behind with the glassy tube pre amp giving a head start!!

Sound Quality : 7
During the time of design it's obvious that fender intended this amp to be aimed at a wide variety of players and styles, as it covers nearly all bases - clean channel is typical of that bright fender sound, while OD1 easily covers blues into rock with channel 3 an almost full on metal heads delight!!, however, if you edge back on the gain on OD2 channel, it gives a great Stevie ray vaughan emulation, although i admit i still use a tube screamer anyway...
i still think this amp would've been better if it wasn't so versatile as some sounds normally gained from fender's are lost with trying to cover everything and be all things to all people

Reliability : 8
Never let me down yet what can i say. only downfall can be the valve wearing out and not being replaced. i've seen these on ebay 'for repair; selling cheap / not selling because te sound cuts out after 5 minutes. believe me its just the tube and they'ra a tenner!!!

Customer Support : 4
unfortunately i have to say that it's always expensive when using a dealer even though i'm a fender man all the way... find someone who does repair in spare time it's cheaper (although you've no comeback)

Overall Rating : 10
as i said before- this is my second roc pro 1000, and both have been 1996 models (red)i made the mistake of selling the other one and even when i manage to con the wife into a hot-rod fender all tube, you'll still have to pry this one from my cold fingers........

clean channel is nice especialy on single coils or split humbucker. very nice response from the knobs , very bright and crisp, it could be warmer dou. Distortion is ok much better than channel in laney ft 200 but still its to muddy for my taste ,but hey! i lend it to my friend who plays metal and he wansn't complaining. For dist i use Mrshl shread master. Nice combination god midrange on shred master + crisp clean. It breaks up easily on bridge pu but i use it to dist only , however i put compressor/limiter/sustainer in loop and that do the trick. Last thing: i've replaced orginla spkr with eminence v12. it doesn't change the clean sound but dist is more focusedale tight in bass range.

Reliability : No Opinion
i have had a nice hand made all tube amp but it broke down on tour, i get mad bought this piece of transistor that should be more reliable. so far so good

I bought mine in 1999 and rehearsed/gigged every week for a couple of years with it. The effects loop was redundant from day one as i dont use rack type fx - but i bought it because i found my old valve marshall 800jcm was becoming too clangy for rhythm on my mexican tele custom. It is loud but unless you stick it close to a backwall its like the power projects past you. It is a feature of this model that unless you pull the jack lead a moment before you switch it off it will let out a very loud "clac". It has a mid-shift button but i never use it - prefer to set up a patch on my floor pedal instead.
The amp has a line out socket and an extension speaker socket.

Sound Quality : 8
This amp is definitely suited to rock. Distortion is set-up on 2 channels so you can go from mild to shred at the stomp of a button. It took a while to get used to the mild drive channel lighting the red led on the footpedal (i expected the amber led for the mild one & the red led for the full on distortion channel) Only one eq setting though but again i select a different patch on my floor fx to get around this. I like the clean channel and the cabinet never seems to resonate at high levels either.
The amp does output a level of operating hiss even at low levels so it may not be suited to recording unless you de-hiss the recording afterwards. I especially like the abundant bass you can get from the clean channel - thats what i like about Fender amps

Reliability : No Opinion
I left the amp with my 2 nephews for 6 months and invited them to put it through its paces. They managed to aggravate the models weakness - 2 dry joints on one of the power supplys reservior capacitors - Apart from that its been totally reliable and sounds as good as it always did. I would recommend anyone buying one has it checked over for dry solder joints (where it gets hot inside) before gigging without a backup. The circuitry is described as being "protective" so i do not think you can kill the amp even if you disconnect the speaker.

Customer Support : 6
I once phoned Arbiter UK to ask about the loud "clac" when switching it off - they said it was a modern design that compies with euro regs and only earlier designs of amplifier (all makes) that have a simple capacitor across the mains switch seem to be immune to this. They did say that such a wiring design could no longer get thru the regs - bullshit or not - i dont know - i just pull the jack lead a moment before switching it off and then it powers off quietly ???
I have never had to call them again

Overall Rating : 8
I have been playing on and off 20 odd years - i have owned Peavey, Cougar, Marshall and finally this Fender. I use Digitech floor pedals (RP6 & RP50)
If it was stolen i would probably go for an all valve lower power Fender because i feel they hold the price better. I dont gig anymore so i would want something i could mic up at home or in a rehearsal room - at nearly 20kg this amp is too heavy for me to be hoisting in and out of my car. It has served me well for a budget amp tho.

i play noisy punk emo shit... so it sound pretty good... there'as always a little crunch on the clean channel (vol 2-4 max)... if you want a "clean" clean... forget about it...

disto.. amazing...

Reliability : 2
well... when i see the other review.. i think there's problems with some series... i don't know which ones... but i can't consider this amp reliable.. in fact, it sucks... i recognize the "auto-switch' gain 1-2, the gun/helicopter sound, the big 'clac' when i turn it off (with all volumes and reverb shut)

Customer Support : 2
awfull... fender and local both... they just don't know what to do with that crap...

Overall Rating : 3
sounds great but made of glass or sugar i don't know... a friend of mine will try to fix it... well, i'll see... i'm so disapointing about that "fender" gear... but it's not the promised quality...

It easily handles an 8-ohm 4x12 cabinet. Easily.

The 1/4 inch input jack and effects loop jacks are low quality.

Sound Quality : 9
I play with an '82 MIJ Strat with stock pups primarily blues, but the band I'm in also requires me to play country and rock. It handles them all. I've gotten away from using VAMP-2 and plugging straight into the amp. I also use a Dunlop crybaby wah.

I mostly play with the distortion turned down pretty low, and I feel it gives a pretty good blues sound...like the Bassman Clapton used at the Cream reunion concerts in NYC. I also play with the clean channel too, it is good also. Nice balanced sound, the bass gets muddy at high volume using my VAMP2, but not a problem plugged straight in.

The distortion can be harsh, and the amp tends to be trebly. Lots of good mids. Carefully dialing in the EQ can get warmer tones. A different speaker might help. I used a Berhenger 4x12 cabinet once and the sound was much more compressed, low mids. I didn't like that! Wish I could find a GE-412 cabinet not for more volume, but for a broader sound.

IS IT EVER LOUD! Makes me think about looking at one of the Fender tweed-covered all-tube blues amps. Do I really need 100Watts? I rarely turn it up past 3 or 4 for master volume.

Reliability : 10
I've owned it for three years, no problems. I hope it holds up, I've read some unflattering commentary about this model amp.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 9
I bought it because of the price, I kept it because of the volume. I am leaning toward a Fender blues amp covered in tweed, but we'll see.

I've got a 2000 (maybe 1999). Good features...plenty of power for anything your ever gonna play (if you're at the collesium, tell them to mic it into the pa). There aren't any effects built in (just reverb) although there is an effects loop with a mix dial. In my opinion, thats all you need since i'm not a big fan of effects. No headphone jack...just buy an adapter at radio shack.

Sound Quality : 10
Perfect sound for anything-rock distorted guitar. I play Punk-Rock mostly, but I've found any sound I want a few dials away. I will say that it's loud though...on 3.5 I'm drowning out my bass-player's 2-15 and defening the club. Great for outdoor shows as well (4.5+). Clean channel isn't that great...but thats not what this is for...it is the ROC Pro

Reliability : 10
I've had mine since 1999-2000 and i've gigged it steadilly ever since with no problems. I haven't had to do anything...not even replace the tube (although it could use it by now). It's traveled across the country, been through 6 hot arizona summers, been dropped, kicked, spit on, and had beer spilled on it and no problems in 7 years. 11 out of 10 for reliability.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never had any problems

Overall Rating : 10
I will never get rid of this setup, ever. I may get a high end Marshall at some point, or an old Orange perhaps, but this will always be my primary. With this head, the matching cab, and good old single-coil pickups you can not go wrong...for any price.
