Fender Super 210

Probably made in 1950. 2X10" Jensen R10R speakers. (3) 6SC7 (2) 6L6
and a 5U4 Rectifier. two inputs each for the mic and instrument channels. I only use one of the instrument inputs. This is a V-front Tweed amp with linen grill cloth and a chrome strip that runs down the middle of the amp's front. It does very nice distortion and crunch rhythm. This is the most beautiful amp Fender ever made.

Humbuckers and Strat & Tele single coils work well with this rig. To my ear P-90s are too hot. I play rock & blues. The Tweed amps produce the sweetest distortion we've come up with to date.

Its been out of warranty for over 50 years. Fortunately, I can fix these amps myself. I had the speakers reconed and had the amp cabinet professionally rebuilt & recovered.

I've been playing for over 30 years. Lots of Pre-CBS Fender Tweeds & Blackfaces, a few Gibsons and a few Mesa Boogies. I think the guitar count is nearing twenty. Strats, Teles, PRS w/ Humbuckers & Soapbars, a Rick 370/12, a Silhouette, Taylor, Guild & Gibson Acoustics. I'm looking for a Guild Nightbird or a Nightingale currently.

There are tonal qualities that are different out of each of the 5 Tweeds I currently own. I like the V-Front Super and I think I like the 2X10 tonal quality better than the others Tweeds I own. Its pretty much neck & neck with my Narrow Panel Deluxe for best tone.

Standard two channel amp. One main EQ, with a second volume and gain for the overdrive channel. Red Knob series. I think mine is from 1992. Two ten inch Fender speakers. The one that i got is used but in near mint condition.

The clean is great. The overdrive is nice and crunchy. It fits well into my set-up. Can handle just about any type of music. from clean and jazzy to hard rock and even metal if you crank it up.

I have only had it about a month or two, but I know that guy I purchased it from gigged with it regularly and just had it re-tubed before i purchased it from him.

Its fender. What else is there to say.

Overall, I think that the amp is a great all around amp. I play mainly strats and I run this amp alongside a Hot Rod Deville 410 with a set of THD yellowjackets in it. I could not be more happy with the way they play off of each other.

I bought mine for a few hundred quid 6 years ago and haven't been tempted by another amp since. The AG code gives July 1990 as a birth date.Nuff said on channels,knobs......and weight!Minimal features and that's fine by me.Do guitarists need "onboard" amp features eg:delay/chorus/blah blah? Hence 8 rating

Gigged it since purchase 1-2 times/week and found it can handle pubs/clubs/outdoor with ease.Currently using a Schechter diamond c1 series with SD style pickups that overdrive the clean channel nicely at high volume.Lower volumes are crystal.Don't use OD channel as my ME50 does all the crunch/blues sounds I need.

Never broken down,but not sure if tubes need replacing.My tube knowledge is nonexistant.do they go all at once (like lightbulb?)or will they perish over time? Answers please

the fender clean sound is right there - I use a 90s american standard strat - clean is excellent - the best. The distortion is OK, not really what you buy this amp for - I use pedals for the dirt, not the built in distortion. and it works well.

when I was giging with this thing 2-3 times a week, I thought it went through a lot of tubes, now I think I was too rough on it - It weighs a ton, and that can lead to a lot of woren out musicians "accidentally" dropping it on the pavement, which is not so great for the tubes, I expect. If you move it alot, get casters for it. I have used it sporadically for the last 7 years and it has held up great. The knobs are the red kind, and I don't like how they are sort of exposed, meaning that the shape of the amp makes them sort of stick out, I wish that fender had shielded them with the case better, as I have had a couple get smashed during moving. but who am I to argue with fender? they are fender! people must love the design as it has been the standard forever.

I've owned this for over 10 years - I think it was about 2 years old when I bought it. I absolutely love the clean sound. I have never even looked at buying another amp since I got it. If you can find this amp (it is rare) for the 300-ish that people here are reporting, I would buy it without hesitation.

The features for this amp have already beam listed. It's a minimalist approach and that's fine by me, I hate spending an hour tweeking an amp in between songs. Wish it had a seperate EQ for both channels but I can live without it. The addition of the "Pull Bright" and "Notch" filter are nice. 60 watts of tube power is enough for small hall or large bar if needed.

Everyone else has said it and so will I....this thing ways a ton!!! I damn near throw my back out every time I take it home from the studio. 3 flights of stairs + Super 210 = severe back problems!!

I am playing with a Les Paul knock-off with unknown (although nice) pickups...an Ibanez RG270DX with Dimarzio Evo's in the Bridge and Neck and a 66' Kapa Continental with 50's era Hofner minibucker style pickups. This amp sounds great with all 3 guitars although the Ibanez is a little too glassy with this amp for my taste.

I play mainly rock/punk/metal and this amp suits all except metal just fine. I have read the other reviews and I have to say that I think some people have wrongfully given the distortion on this amp a bad rating. I will admit that when played at practice volumes of 3 and below (tube amp is VERY LOUD) that the distortion doesn't sound much better than my SS Fender Princeton 65 (maybe a little warmer sounding) but when cranked to 6 and above this and the power tubes start to saturate this amps distortion is awsome! You can get a braod range of distortion by setting the gain to your taste, adjusting the EQ and then kicking the Notch filter in. I love it.

If your playing Metal, you can get a 70's Sabbath type tone from the amp with no problems but If your looking for High Gain you're gonna need a pedal or a different amp. I use a Boss Metal Zone in front of the clean channel and I get a great Mettalica sound.

The clean channel on this amp is the best I've heard/played so far, Fender really has this sound down and the 2x10 tube combo gives it a little more warmth to the sound that I couldn't find on the Twin Reverb I played on.

This amp is great for a variety of music (except metal) and will suprise just about anyone.

Only had it for 4 months, but I have not had a problem yet, tubes don't rattle while playing and it's built like a tank. I will not give it a rating yet because I have not had it long enough.

Fender does have the MR. Gearhead website for manuals and schematics... but thats about it....you do have to pay for the manual and they make you mail the payment in, no credit card or online ordering system which is a pain in the ass.
Many people have given fender amp customer support a very low rating and I agree but I'm giving it a 6 because it is a Fender amp and according to my amp tech they are by far the easiest amp to work on.

Been playing for around 8 years now, 6 by myself and 2 with a band. I own several solid state amps, Fender Princeton 65, Peavey Bandit 65, Crate GFX. I use a variety of pedals with the solid state amps, Boss CE-2, SD-1, BF-2, MT-2, Dunlop Cry Baby Wah. But with the 210 I pretty much plug straight in, I love the sound of this amp.
If the amp were stolen or lost, I would definitely buy it again.
When I was shopping around I compared it to a Marshall AVT, Peavey classic 30 and 50 (212) and a Fender Super Six. I have to admitt the Super Six was my first choice but for $300 instead of the $800 for the Super Six this amp was still a close second. I didn't care for the Marshall, it just didn't react to my playing the way I had hoped and the Peaveys were nice but the clean channel just wasn't quite there and neither was the distortion.
I think anyone who buys this amp for under $400 is going to be happy.

Don't know when the amp I tried out was made. It had the red knobs so I'm assuming late 80's/early 90's. Nice simple two channel 2X10 tube combo, 60 watter (60 tube watts is damn loud.) I like simple amps so this model has enough features for me. Don't know if it has an FX loop. I've been playing professionally for 12 years, this amp would certainly cut the mustard for most gigs. My style is a blend of jazz, rock, blues, country, and fusion, and this amp would cover any of those styles.

I played a newer model Fender Esquire (2 humbuckers, coil splitting, pretty nice guitar actually for the money) through it. I was just at Guitar Center, scoping out the used stuff they had and came across this incredible deal. Sounds amazing! The clean channel is your basic Fender clean, sort of a combination of blackface spank and tweed warmth. Didn't set me on fire but sounded real, real good. Clena channel had a pull bright feature like a Boogie instead of the "bright" switch on a blackface amp. The lead channel sounded unbelivably good for an amp that was selling for 300 bucks. The presence knob (controls both channels, function of the power amp) had a pull "notch" feature that really made a difference on the lead channel, completely changed the character of the sound from a sort of crunch sound (which I'm not a fan of) to a really tight, smooth Boogie style overdrive. The lead channel was pretty noisy (comes with the territory, preamp gain adds a lot of noise). Didn't get a chance to crank the clean channel. The non-notched setting was a sort of solid statey "crunch" like a Princeton Chorus type of distortion but with the notch pulled out, wow, sounded just like my Mesa Mark II. For the money, I've never heard a better sounding amp.

Like any tube amp, you need to service it regularly if you gig with any frequency. I wouldn't advise gigging without backup, I do it myself and have been pretty lucky but your gear can always find a way to fuck up. As far as this amp, I don't know, I don't own it.

I've never called "Fender" so I don't know. My understanding is, Fender's kind of a big company. If your Jeep breaks down, do you call "Chrysler/Jeep"? No, you call the dealer you bought it at or you call a repair guy you trust.

Man if you see one of these things buy it. You'll be amazed. If you're looking for a Boogie, and you happen to run into one of these on your search, buy it.

This amp was made around 1990 or so. The faetures have been listed by others. This amp will do blues, rock, jazz, country, but metal heads will want something with more gain. Wish it had a headphone jack, but they usually don't put them on amps of this size (60 watt TUBE).

This amp simply has an amazing tone. It's got to be one of Fender's best kept secrets. I play various styles, and this amp does them all well. I use different guitars, with single coils and humbucking pick-ups, and they all sound great. If you like heavy metal, just put your favorite high gain distortion pedal in front of the clean channel. while the clean channel isn't as loud as the distortio channel, this amp has MUCH more clean headroom than a Blues Junior...it's not even close.

I have had this amp for about 4 months with no problems. About the only thing you have to do is change the tubes once in a while. These things are built solid, much heavier than a lot of newer amps. If you take a look inside the chassis vents, you will see THICK circuit boards. Hey, most manufacturers use circuit boards these days, even Mesa Boogie. I'd definitely gig without a back-up, but would bring along some spare fuses.

Haven't had to deal with Fender, but I know they have a website and various forums to help with problems, should they arise.

I've been playing for about 20 years, and have played Marshalls, Mesa Boogies, Fenders, you name it. This amp has a fantastic tone that has to be heard to be believed. Forget about 12" combos, they don't even have 1/10th the tone that this amp has. If someone stole this amp, I would hire a private detective to track down the culprit, and prosecute to the fullest extent of the law. I would have to have this amp. I wish it had a footswitch for both the channels and the reverb, but that's a minor shortcomming. I LOVE this amp!

1991. Good clean tones and a rather good overdriven sound. Two channels (footswitchable). No effect loop or headphone jack. Owned it for a couple of months. Wished a couple of things: an equal power output for both channels and an EQ for each channel. The sixty watts is only reached on the overdrive-channel NOT on the clean channel. The clean channel is not even powerful enough to win from my Fender Blues Junior.

Two Fender-strats, a 1989 USA-standard and a 2000 Hot Rod Texas Special. Good for clean (almost Twin Reverb; I tried that side-by side) and rock-sounds. The distortion is very brutal. A bit noisy.

I play for over 25 years. Sold it because I hated the lack of balance between the two channels. There is also no power on the clean channel. Sold it for a fair price. A lot of people will like it though. I go for a more bluesier amp.

You know the features, mine is a "Super 210 Reverb". Red knobs, spring reverb, footswitchable clean/drive channels. External speaker out, emu line out, etc. 2 Fender designed 10" speakers.

I play through it with a CC Clark Guitar with 2 single coils and one humbucker. Pretty much only use the humbucker, I play 311/weezer type stuff and general rock music. Although the fender is not the best for rock, it does the trick, especially cutting through the drummer. Pretty much, the clean channel is awesome, that's what you get the amp for, crystal clear cleans at high volumes. The gain channel is good, especially for light/mild distortion (which I use sometimes). Mine has the original tubes, but it has a pretty loud hum at gain past 5 on the OD channel. Maybe it needs new tubes, I've never changed tubes before but suspect that is the problem. The hum is not really a problem, but I would think recording would not be possible because of it. Other than that, it sounds awesome. I use a Boss OD/Distortion pedal for a more rigid Mesa-type hum-free sound (for 311) and stick with the tube od for weez stuff. Also, at hi-gain settings the amp loses some defenition of bass notes (as one guy already mentioned). Might be the older speakers.

Heavy as shit. The bassist's 4x12 and head weigh half as much as this little combo. Hurts my back carrying it, could use wheels. Seems pretty solid, but I wouldn't treat it too badly. Tubes rattle when you carry it. Needs casters. But overall pretty solid, pretty compact.

Never dealt with fender yet.

Got it used off ebay, shipping was like $80.00! If you want a huge sound (and I mean massive) but don't want to lug around a half stack to go play with friends, get it. That is if you like the super clean glassy fender tube sound. If you're one of those people who never uses clean get something else. This amp model was made between 1990-92. It is a very basic amp...clean channel and distortion channel. Both share the same tone contols ( treble, mid, bass , presence ) which I like, since I usually have both channels set the same on amps with separate tone contols. Also has reverb, effects loop, and jack for extra speakers.

I play mainly jazz and classic rock ( Hendrix, Zep, etc. ) and this amp suits me just fine. More than enough distortion for me, but if you are looking for ultra-high gain, better use a pedal or get a boogie. The only feature I wish the amp had was casters...it weighs a ton.

I use the amp at home, and 60 watts of tube power is way more than I need, but my theory is you can never have enough power. It is a tube amp ( tube pre-amp, power amp, phase inverter ) but it has a solid state rectifier--which Fender has used on it's higher power amps for a long time. The reverb is also solid state driven. I won't give this amp an OFFICIAL features rating, because everyone likes something different, but my unofficial rating---my personal rating would be a 9.

I play a Fender 90's Deluxe Tele, a Pro-Tone Strat, and a Pro-Tone Fat Tele. My previous tube amps have been an early 70's Champ, a mid 70's Super Reverb , and a Marshall VS65 Valvestate ( though it is a hybrid amp, not a true tube amp.) My current amp is a Peavey Envoy 110 ( solid state .) This is by far the best sounding tube amp I have owned... I could not get the Champ to break up, even on 10, and the Super Reverb is the quintessential clean amp..., but I would have to play very hard to get it to break up, and even then, just barely.

This amp has the classic Fender clean sound, and of course nothing beats the sound of tube amp distortion, especially when you are looking for the subtle distortion I like...Keith Richard's vintage.
The amp isn't noisy at all ( except the usual nosie with single coil pick-ups.) In fact, it is much quieter than any 12 year old tube amp has a right to be!

I find the tone contols very effective. The reverb sounds pretty good, but this amp has the small style reverb tank, and I really prefer the sound of the large tank ( as on my old Super Reverb.) Don't let the fact that the reverb is solid state driven fool you...I have had other solid state amps with the larger reverb tank, and they sound just about as great as the all tube Super Reverb.

The clean channel stays clean at all volumes. The distortion, as I mentioned above, is great for a subtle sound, but I can get a great Hendrix sound at higher settings. No ulta-high gain distortion from this amp, but using a DOD Grunge pedal was a very pleasing surprise...it sounded FANTASTIC through this amp. This amp has a lot of bass for a 2-10" combo. My only complaint about the distortion is that at moderate to high settings, the bass notes lose definition. However, I suspect that this is due to the 12-year-old speakers being tired and a bit loose. ( Just for comparison, the Peavey Envoy, with 1 -10" speaker can't even come close to the warmth of this amp, let alone the bass response.)

This is about a 12-year old USED tube amp, so I won't give it an official rating. However, The previous owner(s) REALLY took great care of this amp. Only a couple of very minor dings in the tolex, and the amp was recently re-tubed with high quality tubes. No unusual noises ( the Marshall Valvestate amp I had, which I bought NEW, had occassional crackling noises.) The amp weighs a ton and despite the fact that some people complain about the reliability of the Super 112/210 amps , an amp is only reliable if you take care of it. My unofficial reliability rating would have to be a 9.

I have only had this amp for a couple of weeks, but since I have been playing guitar a loooong time, it doesn't take me very long to size up equipment. If anything ever happened to this amp, I would HAVE to get another one, or something similar. I love the sound and punch of this amp, which no solid state amp can match, IMO. I hate the fact that I will eventually get a hernia from moving it around. I'd put it on casters, but that would mean re-positioning the reverb tank. The only other amps I was considering before I bought this one was a Fender Blues Jr., and a Peavey Classic 30. This amp is twice as powerful as the Peavey, and 4 times as powerful as the Blues Jr. 60 watts made it an easy choice. I wish this amp had some of the features the Prosonic does, such as the three-way rectifier feature, but for the price, you can't touch this American made amp.

I play desert/stoner rock with a Gibson SG and Fender Jaguar, no problems. The gain on this is great. I play the SG clean into the amp and use a colorsound super tone bender with the jag. This rocks. I played a three band bill with all guitarist using this amp. One was a 60 garage band the other a 70 prog rock and the amp handed all sounds.

You?d be hard pushed to damage this beast. I?ve gigged it for years. Droped it, fallen over it, and still it lives.

Never needed it, though fender for guitars are crap.

Been playing 14 years now. Have had a Laney valve and Marshall. Have recorded through a Vox and a fender twin. Forget them.

Fender Super 210 2x10 combo. Made early 90's (my guess is 92). This amp suits me fairly well for the styles of music i play (rock, punk, ska) although is better suited for jazz/country styles. Has 2 channels, clean and gain. Gain channel is VERY loud and picks up very quickly. Has reverb, which is not footswitchable althoug this would be helpful.

I primarily play my Fender Nashville Telecaster through this amp, and get a good sound with it, especially through the clean channel. I prefer not to use the amps distortion (especially with palm mutes) and instead use a zoom 505II pedal, which sounds good through the amp.

Never had any problems with the amp.

I would recommend this amp to anyone who is looking for a good quality tube amp for under 500 bucks (used). I really love the clean channel on this amp, although the distortion can be weak at times as i have said. For jazz/country/blues i would definently recommend this amp, but for harder stuff, i'd leave it be.

Like described befor 60 W, 2x10 Fender Speakers.Original tubes as described above. Two channels, switchable. This Amp is built like a tank and its weight suggests, that it is made of concrete. I bought it secondhand for about 350 $$.
Must be built around 1991/92. One of the best deals I ever made. I am missing the tremolo (but I can live with that) and it should have wheels!!. The boost channel is loud as can be!! Marshall beware!

One of the best clean sounds I ever heard, can`t believe it for such a low price! The gain channel is punchy, the volume control works too rapidly for me, especially when using at home, with gigs its o.K. I play mainly rock and blues, using a 1965 Strat (!) and Tele plus 3 Lace sensor pickups and a Gibson LP DC with 2 pearly gates.
The amp is quiet enough, sometimes a little hum, I guess the tubes should be exchanged sooner or later.

Haven`t had direct contact (from Germany), but the web page sucks! Poor information, no downloadable Manuals or circuits (or does anybody else know?). Spareparts are hopefully available, if I should ever need some, Tubes for sure.
Fender should have a look at Mesa Boogie, very reliable an friendly and helpful customer service!

I have been playing ever since 1968 through all sorts of Amps. I also own 2 Mesa boogies, a Marshall DSL and an AER Acoustc Amp. If this Amp was stolen, I hope the guy has a good doctor to cure his pain from carrying the Amp. I'd surely buy it again.
I hate it`s weight, but I guess this is the price you have to pay for an excellent sounding amp!

The features was pretty well covered in the previous review (well done). Two 6L6 power tubes, two 12AX7 preamp tubes and a 12AT7 driver for the reverb. Some other things to mention is that it has a bright pull pot on the clean channel. The notch filter adds more mids to the distortion and takes away the fender 'spongy-ness'. This feature makes a huge tonal difference to the OD channel but is barely noticable on the clean channel. It's a simple but yet very effective. I was considering checking out Rivera amps and other amps with loads of knobs to fiddle with but I decided to go with this amp because it sounded great as soon as you plug in.

I use this amp with an Ibanez RG for the heavier stuff and a custom strat for the country, blues and rock. My setup consists of Crybaby Wah, Zoom 1010, MXR Phaser If you wanna play the heavier stuff such as Dream Theater which I play, you'll need to add a distortion pedal to the front of the amp. I found the ultimate sounding distortion pedal in the Korg Hyper-distortion. Too bad they all have reliability problems. For more on that see my Korg review.
This amp wasn't meant for metal though. It is a great country blues and rock amp. The clean channel is the main reason I bought this amp. One of the best clean sounds. It's easy to improve distortion tones later. The O.D channel is very good also. Especially with the gain on 1 and the volume turned up for some sweet overdriven chords. Crank up the gain and you can get some great nasty rock sounds. One other thing is that this amp is very loud. I play in a 12 piece Jazz, rock, blues band and the OD channel cuts through with the volume on 4 I still get told to turn down! I used to think that 10 inch speakers were whimpy until I heard The Prosonic and then this amp. It's a very gutsy amp indeed. A real work horse.

I do use it at gigs with out a back up but I carry spare tubes and fuses. I've just replace the power tubes with a duet of 6L6 groove tubes. It is a little noisy but you get that with all valve amps. I can live with it. Hasn't broken down yet.

I've never had to deal with the company directly. There is an authorised dealer that I always go through and they deal with Fender Australia.

I've been playing for 7 or 8 years now and have played in many bands with styles ranging from Jazz to Country to Progressive rock and Metal. A very nice amp indeed! Great sound. It is VERY heavy though. I'm about to put mine on wheels. It can do just about anything if you find the right distortion pedal, except maybe death metal or course. How many people actually use 10 inch speakers for metal anyway

This red-knob all tube 60w Fender amp was built around 1990 and features 2 - 10" drivers. The amplifier section is identical to the Super 112 with a twin 10" speaker arrangement. There are two footswitchable-input channels, a spring reverb, effects loop, common eq, presence, notch filter line out and an external speaker connector. Reverb is not footswitchable, which would be helpful. Comes in a reasonable size package (same size as Fender Prosonic) and weighs a ton (I put mine on wheels).

I play primarily Blues and Classic Rock on a 78 Tele with an original bridge pickup and a blue lace sensor at the neck You just can't beat the sound from an all tube amplifier. In addition I run my Takemine acoustic through this amp with great results. I'm not in a band nor have ever been, but get a great degree of pleasure from playing at home on my own or with the accompaniment of my hi-fi system and my favorite artists. Previously I used a Peavey Classic 50 hybrid and the Fender is dramatically superior for sound quality. The distortion range on the drive channel is perfect as it allows for a very subtle overdrive activated by the picking intensity to a heavy overdrive. The spring reverb works beautifully to compliment the smooth sound of this amp. I have only one complaint with this amplifier. On the drive channel the volume kicks in too quickly and subtle (in-house with children sleeping) levels are difficult to achieve. I have since added a Morley foot volume control to the effects loop which dose the trick but it would be more convenient if the gain on the drive channel volume was more gradual. The amp is currently a little noisy when recording into my MiniDisc system but I plan to replace all tubes shortly and hope that this characteristic will be improved.

Have owned the amp for only 1 month but the previous owner was my 18-year-old son and if it survived him it must be good. The amp when purchased had a defective 12ax7 which was feeding back at higher volumes, a defective drive channel pot, a mismatched knob and a broken input jack. These parts were all purchased for a total cost less than $20.

Have not had to deal with Fender direct but have located a superb technician in the Toronto area who has to date supplied me with the parts I needed. I highly recommend this guy, Sound FX at 11 Glen Cameron Rd. unit 11B in Thornhill, ON. (905-889-3330). He not only had all the parts I needed in stock but even though I planned on completing the repairs myself he was very helpful and clearly knew what he was talking about. I installed a new pot on the drive channel and a new input jack. What a pleasure working on this amp. The technology I understand. It's kind of like working on a car that still uses a carburator.

I love the amp. I love its sound. I'd recommend it to anyone with a similar arrangement to my own. As I don't play gigs I can't comment on this aspect of the amps performance but I have no reason to expect to be disappointed. I'd love to hear from anyone else using this amp or the other Super series product.
