This is the silver face model,70's I guess. It has 45 watts, which is less than newer models. 4x10inch speakers. Has arms on the side to support the amp if you tilt it back. Tremolo , reverb , two channels bright and normal inputs and a foot switch that I don't have.

I play various rock and blues music. This is one great sounding amp, but is on the clean side, with a very smooth, mellow sound. There are different tubes in it now and they seem to make it hardly feedback t all, even at the highest levels. You should definitely seek out good tubes! It is well suited to smoother sounds such as Doobie Brothers Long Train Runnin, but can rock out with good tubes and some pedals. Has awsome reverb. Is probably not what you want for metal. I have a new Peavey Classic 50 4X10 and while it is much more versatile with it's preamp controls , it is brighter and not as warm as the Fender.

Whats regular servicing? I bought this amp used in the late seventies I have changed a few tubes , have traded it to a friend, then traded to get it back. I have blown 2 of the four speakers over the years, but this amp spent a lot of time on 10. I would travel around the world with this thing but when I can I always try to get something for a backup even when I was using a new amp.

Have not used Fender, but I didn't like estimates from there local service dept. for reconditioning the speakers. Though this was a few years ago.

I'd buy another in a second, but I think this one will probably last forever. It has been a fixture in my life, and after selling it once and begging for years to get it back it's staying with me. Incredibly warm sound, the best reverb around. Would be nice if it had a preamp volume control, I believe newer ones did.

This amp is an early 70s Super, Silverface w/ no master volume. It doesn't have any separate channels, but the one it has sound great. It is set up with the typical Fender reverb and tremelo, operated by a footswitch (that I don't have). I can't remark on it's versatility, since it's mainly known for that big fat Fender sound, but one time I hooked up a Thrash Master pedal to it and it still sounded great. It runs on 4 12AX7s and 2 12AT7s, with 2 6L6GC power tubes. I will probably get it converted back to blackface specs one of these days to smooth out the distortion a little. It's really loud--my girlfriend said she could hear it down the block one day when I turned it up to about 7 or 8.

This amp sounds great. That classic big fat Fender sound; even though it only has 10" speakers, it still gets great bottom end. Distorts nicely around 6 or 7, I haven't turned it up much louder than that-- I have neighbors. Theoretically, I suppose a master volume would be nice, but we all know what happened when Fender did that. The distortion is nice and smooth, but could be nicer and smoother if converted back to blackface specs. Perfect for your strat if you want that slightly overdriven blues sound, or for your Gretsch if you want to be rockabilly king (the Reverend Horton Heat uses a Super). Or come to think of it, probably just about anything you want clean and loud...

I don't know how dependable this one is--I got it about 2 months ago and haven't gigged or anything with it. However, from the condition of the amp, I would say that it was used pretty hard for a while and then probably left in a closet when someone upgraded. Still got the original blue back speakers, and some old Sylvania and GE tubes made in the USA. So it's probably been around the block a few times and it still sounds great. Other than normal maintenance I haven't heard of any real repair needs with these amps.

Sorry I haven't really dealt with Fender about it, but I've heard rumours about them...

I would buy this amp again in a second. I just love the sound, despite the fact that I can't really take advantage of it at home. The thing weighs about 600 pounds though so you should get a set of casters if yours doesn't come with them (mine didn't)--it has holes for them in the bottom already. I'm not a big fan of Marshalls or any of that kind of killer distortion sound, so maybe I'm not one to judge how it compares to other amps. I've always been in love with Fenders, but had never really thought about the Super until I tried this one--as soon as I did, I knew I had to have it. They're still relatively cheap, too especially if they don't look so good, so it was perfect for me.
