A very clever designed little amp - good ideas I never saw elsewhere!
Mine is no. 00013, one of the first ones.
2 channels, 2nd one with additional lead boos. Cool: 2 switchable master volumes, "deep"-switch (really adds bottom end). clean channel has no mid pot (only treble, bass and bright-switch)
Very light for an all-tube amp.
FX loop is semi-serial (not completely)
If you want to buy one check that it comes with the footswitch, only few switches work.
Footswitch in - jacks: clean/lead, lead boost on/off, master 1/2, rev. on/off

The clean channel has a very fender-style sound: very clean, lots of treble if desired (I hardly ever use the bright switch). When volume is being turned up it delivers a real good, transparent crunch sound, no mud.
The overdrive sound is warm, full, singing, but can as well be cutting when treble is increased. Gain ranges from very low gain, semi-clean crunch settings to medium gain overdrive (80s style maximum). Overdrive characteristics is Fender-Marshall JTM-style.
The lead boost makes it almost 3-channel. I particularly like that the lead boost doesn't increase volume. It just increases gain and makes the sound fatter. Very high gain reserve, no problem with Santana style sounds. The best thing is the mid control in lead boost setting: that's what makes this little amp sing.
Sound characteristic is similar to an old Boogie, it is easy to reproduce Larry Carlton, Robben Ford, Carlos Santana sounds and others.
A perfect amp for fusion, also for blues, R&B, soul. NO heavies please...this Bud's not for you...

As with other small-size high-gain combos, tube reliability can be an issue. Better always carry a set of 12AX7s as spare with you, as well as a set of EL 34. I had a few situations when the amp started making noises. I don't really blame the Red Rogue as I've seen this with others, too.
Everything else: really good, no problems.

I didn't have repair issues, but recently had contact to Framus concerning mods. The responded very fast, sometimes twice in a day and were very friendly and helpful.

I have been playing guitar for 33 years now. I worked with Boogies, rack system with Soldano SP 77 preamp, Fender Twin Reissue, Hughes & Kettner Triamp and other stuff. Currently I play a Vox AD 60 VT (modelling amp) for my TOP 40 band and the Red Rogue for my fusion jazz band. I would love to play it only, but the cover music demands more different sounds. Plus I feel the Red Rogue is to precious for ordinary occasions ;-)
I would definitely buy it again if it got lost. I don't think I ever heard such a boutique-like and well-sounding amp. Okay, I never heard a Dumble in person...

I dont understand the reviews here, this amp sounds no better than a Laney transistor amp! Clean is sterile and dry and the OD is week. I have tried many tubes to rectify this but it never changes. I now know why framus stopped making this amp. The competition eats it, I replaced this with a Peavey Classic 30 and that kills it tone wise. FYI I use a Gibson 92 Les Paul Standard, Strat plus deluxe and a MIJ telecaster. Non of these sounded good through this amp!!I just has no balls and sounds thin!!

Build quality on this is average, my amp guy opened this up to see if it could be modded and said it looked more like a hifi amplifier!! It hasnt broke down though!!! Tolex is not as good as marshall.

No Opinion
Twin channel, two master volumes, boost, one 12" celestion speaker.
Great looker: red "leather" all around.
No footswitch (standard footswitch you can find anywhere).
I am mainly a jazz player, standards, that is.
For my use the second channel is much too heavy. It distorts heavily and aims at the heavy rock guitarists. I hoped the second channel would be the first channel but then heavier with slightly more distortion, but then again...
50 watts. Not as loud as a Mesa Boogie.

Channel one has a very edgy clean sound, nice, not too warm or woolly. There is sufficient bite to it without overdrive. Sounds great with my guitars (humbuckers, archtops or Godin Flat Five).
Sounds like a very good Fender Deluxe, with attitude. Has character. Like it better than the deluxe and the clean sounds are livelier than on a Boogie. At least, that's my opinion.
Second channel is too hot for me. Very different voicing, aimed at heavy rock, I think. Not too suitable for standard jazz. But then again, very suitable for fusion. Sounds much like a boogie.

Very dependable stuff. Been carrying it around for a while playing big band stuff and small combos.
Nice work.

Great amp. Like the sound much more than I did a Fender Deluxe and that's already a great sounding amp.
The addition of a "real" second channel with different tone and volume is great. Gives you the flexibility most (affordable) Boogies and Fenders lack.
Has nice looks and isn't too heavy. This is a nice feature too for the travelling musician.

I just love the clean channel.. great headroom, full, thick, bright enough. Love to crank it up till it breaks (its easy cuz it has channel volume and master volume per channel) or to set the chnnel vol to 4 and the master full up for that thick, clean, not-a-bit-of-distortion sound. Somewhere between Fender Twin and a Marshall Bluesbreaker
Channel 2: Think of a classic marshall but... whith BALLS!!
(It also has a "more drive" button, but I dont need it.. LOL)

So far so good! Like in any other tube amp you can hear the "fly wing" that bit of feedback noise when you set the volume REALY high, but thats ok with me.

Had a Fender frontman 15G and a Line6 Flextone HD2 with a 4x12 cab.
Tried everything before buying this one: Mesa LoneStar, Mesa F-series, Fender Twins and Hot-Rod series, Roland JC-120, Marshalls, Vox AC-30 and those new ones, Engl Ritchie signature, and other.. but my amp kicked their asses (okok, the LoneStar was cool but way too expensive).
A great amp for a great price (in europe :P )
Would sell it only for enough money to buy a ruby riot hehehe
