My BluTone was made in April of 2007. True point to point, hand wired, American made amplifier. It is the perfect bed to an assortment of pedals. Mine is the two channel version. It has everything you need but a LED light on the stomp box, so you can more easily determine what channel your on....this needs to be corrected. If your really interested in its features go to http://musiciscool.com/FrenzelElectronics/BluTone50.htm
I ordered mine with an optional FRED rectifier bridge and an extra rectifier tube socket and two switches so I can switch between two different rectifier tubes or switch from tube to FRED rectifier....Way cool!

This amp nails the most most complex, deep, harmonically rich beautiful tones in the amp buisness. The perfect compliment to all my pedals. You do have to turn the bass way down to balance the amp out, which might scare some people, but once you do it balances out the tonal spectrum nicely. With out a gain pedal in front of it it'll cover clean to mid overdriven to quite well, add the right overdrive/distortion pedals and the sky is the limit.
Compared to my Bogner Ecstacy 101B the BluTone is more complex and harmonically rich in its tones, both clean and overdriven. Yes the 101B has more overdrive and distortion and by itself covers a much broader range of tones. But they are lack luster compared to the tones the BluTone puts out. And once you put the "right" pedals in front if it, it'll do the harder driven tones better. After playing Frenzels it is hard to go back to my Bogner.
It stomps all over the tone of my VHT Classic, 50ST and 50CL as well.
Modern main stream amps can't even come close...Marshall's, Crate's, Peavey's, Mesa Boogies........your just wasin' your hard earned cash on "those' name brand pieces of junk. Terrible tone. Terrible quality.
With a Frenzel you'll get great tone and great quality!

I have been playin for 30 years. So far "this amp" has "the tone" for me. I've looked for a long time now I've finally found it! If it were lost or stolen I would get another as it is now my "main" amp. It'll blow anything in its price range out of the water. I wish it has a tube buffered effects loop And I wish it was tamed in the bass some, but as I stated earlier the tonal controls more then rectify the situation. But in my fanasy world all my amps are perfectly balaned tonally when all the tone controls are at 12:00

WOW! If you haven't had the chance to hear one of these amps, you have no idea what real tone sounds like!
I have serial number 0005. One of the first. I will never use anything but a Frenzel.
It's compact and full of power! You've got two channels. Clean and gain. I use it with a couple of Tone Tubby's in a cabinet Frenzel made for me. And man, this setup is the best.

I've spent thousands looking for the sound I want. And after years of needless spending, I found the Frenzel. Or, it found me.
Everywhere I go, or every jam I attend, no one can match the creamy tone I get from this amp!
If you're a tonehead, you gotta own one. At low volume, it sounds like I'm at full force!

Trevor Frenzel is the greatest to work with. I know if I ever had any problems, he'd take care of it immediately. But, this amp is handmade and I trust it more than any topshelf amp!

You don't need alot of effects with this amp. Which is amazing in itself. I might even get another one just to keep one at home and the studio.
I love you guys at Frenzel Electronics. Thanks!!!

2005 model..2 channels (normal and boost) switchable 50 watt hand built to order..effects loop. More then enough power as amp is rated 50 watts CLEAN power. I use this amp with a pair of 12" Tone Tubbys (1 alnico 1 ceramic) Vety versitile..comes stock with EL34's but 6L6's can be dropped in insted if desired with no need to rebias. I play mostly surf music and was looking for an EL34 based amp to give me a change of pase and other tones other then the reverb drenched Fender sound I use with the band. The head is covered in black tolex with a clear plexi front..very cool to see the warm glow of the tubes! Some might mark the amp down a point for n reverb, but for me I would rather keep the circuit clean and uncluttered. One interesting feature is what Frenzel calls an "edge" control which cuts off the negitive feeback (natural compression).

I've tried several different pups/guitars through her...Strats with Fralins, Custom Shop 60's, 50's, stacked Duncans and P-90's and Dearmonds. The amp has the best clean channel I have ever heard the tone of the pups comes through completly naturalat whatever volume you choose..I'm a tube hi-fi buff and from what Jim Frenzel has told me, the back end of this amp is designed much like a tube hi-fi amp would be..I'm not a tech so don't know all the in's and out's of that but suffice to say just remarkable clean tones. The boos channel took me awhile to get a handle on..at first I just cranked everything up and while that produced (im my opinion) a very night screaming od, it is not a tone I would use often...after exchanging emails with Trevor Frenzel, I tried some less balls to the wall settings and also experimented with the edge control. The thing is on this amp, small ...very small changes in settings will yeild a radically different tone...I've never played through an amp that is this interactive with the player. I'm now very happy with the boost side as I can go from mild od to a wonderfull harmonic rich sustain...you need to take your time with this amp and really explore all the different options these small adjustments yeild.

Been playing over 30 years own a dozen or so guitars mostly Fenders. Yes, I would buy another if lost. I owned a VOX AC-15 ..I found that I can get that VOX chime with the Frenzel as well as in your face Marshall tones. I've yet ti try it with 6L6's yet, but that should be interesting..maybe I'll be able to leave the Dual Showman home next time we play! This amp is not inexpensive, but it really does cover a lot of tone territory so I would rate ut an excellent value.
