Well it has a low Serial number, so it must be an earlier one. For what it is, it is very versatile. Low watt, Bass, Mid, High, Vol/Gain. Ability to switch tubes with a biasing pot, giving it from 4-9 watts, dependant on the tube used. Not many features, but really, not many needed.

Sound Quality : 10
I use all sorts of gits, mostly Tele's but also Strats, SG, LP, Firebird. All sound great thru it. I play Blues, country, rock and anyhting else I can think of, it does it all really well. It can be noisey because of the 12ax7 in the V1 slot, but change it out to a AT or AU and it quites down. I am running it into a EV 10, I have tried it on a 412, 112 and 110/112, and I like the 10 the best. I would mike it if I was to use it onstage. I crank it about 3/4 vol and use the git or a OD pedal to bump the overdrive. It is not my main amp, but I do like it quite a bit! I am currently running a Gold Lion KT66 in it, I also Like the GTEL34R in it. 6L6 and 6V6 really didn't do it for me, I don't have a 6650, but will try one in the future. The KT66 is a very even tube when it comes to tones

I bought it used for very little, hasn't broken down but had a weird hum in it, took it to a tech he got it straight quickly, now it screams

I don't gig without backup-even

Don't know, hope I don't have to find out

Overall Rating : 10
Been playing a long time, only bought it because of the price, and the rep- it's lived up to it. A nice semi custom amp from a great company

This is a bare bones simple amp. That was the design goal and they nailed it. Gain, treble, mid and bass on the front panel. Out back you have a choice of 4 or 8 ohms. Tube wise is comes with two 12ax7 JJs and a JJ EL34. You can also run 12at7s and 6v6s too. More on that under Sound Quality. That said, you can get a LOT of different sounds.

Sound Quality : 10
I use the Lucky 7 with a PRS Custom 22 a Strat and a Les Paul with humbuckers. Stock out of the box I was not liking life. The amp was working as designed, doing that Train Wreck thing where you drive the tone from your volume control. Just not my thing. Way too harsh for me. So, I swapped the first 12ax7 for a 12at7 and things were better. Next challenge is that I am not liking the EL34 thing at all. Popped in a 6v6 and with the lower gain pre amp tube I am loving life! Think tweed deluxe on steoids. Not a grotesque hit of steroids just a little blast of roids. Biasing was easy with the directions provided. First time I have done that and I didn't break anything or get zapped! I now have an amp that makes the sounds I hear in my head and I can go from Kenny Burrell to "oooh ooh that smell....." :-)

Reliability : 8
It's a week old so who knows. I did confuse volts and miliamps when I first biased it and it still works! That has to tell you something.

No idea yet. Good documentation though.

This is a 2006 Fuchs Lucky 7 head. Rated at 7 watts. 2 12ax7 preamp, 1 EL-34 power amp. Gain, Treble, Middle, Bass, and that's it. Back panel has outs for 8 or 16 ohms. Detachable power cord and fuse. Black tolex. My cab is an open back 2x12 oversized Avatar with a Greenback and an H-30. I love this amp. On the surface, there's not a lot of features, but once you learn how to work the thing, a ton of possibilities are out there. All 4 of the controls are very powerful and give you the ability to drastically alter tone. But really, the coolest thing about this amp is the fact that turning down your guitar volume does not detract from your tone the way it does on other amps. Highs remain clear and the sound is full even with guitar volume on half. THAT'S why this is such a useable amp. I don't know how they did this but it definitely works. Some say it's underpowered. I'm coming off of a 40 watt amp that I could never turn up past 5 at gigs and had to use a pedal for leads. This seems silly to me. With the 7, I leave the gain dimed on the amp and use my guitar volume to switch between clean, semi-clean, and lead sounds. I mike the cab at every show anyway, doesn't need much though.

Sound Quality : 10
In terms of sound quality, this thing stands up with the very best of anything I've tried, and I've tried many. Fuchs says this amp is modeled after a Trainwreck or an old Marshall, but sadly, these are two amps that I've never had the experience to really get to know.
Even though I have my own style with the thing, the only way we can describe sounds is through comparison to well-known recordings: With my strat, I can go from Prince-type super trebly funk stuff to saturated Fender-on-10 SRV sounds, and all the way to a Pearl Jam rock sound. With a Les Paul, I'm instantly reminded of Billy Gibbons. As for myself, I play in an R&B/Soul band and it suits my style wonderfully. Clear, articulate, very responsive. I hit my strings very hard most of the time, and it reacts really well. The gain has a great bite to it but it's not nasty. My only complaint is that it's pretty noisy when nothing's being played.

Reliability : 9
I'm giving reliability a 9 here just because the tubes are board-mounted to cut costs, and that just kind of blows, sturdiness-wise. I don't really know how I feel about PTP vs. printed circuit so I'm going to withhold any comment.

Customer Support : 5
Sent Andy an email once to ask a dumb question and he got back to me right away. Super nice. However, I'm giving Fuchs a 5 here because of their choice of Apple Music in Portland OR as a retailer. Awful, awful store, awful owner, and I don't know how they manage to get such nice stuff. I really wish I didn't have to buy this amp there.

Overall Rating : 9
Been playing for 17 years now. I've owned a really crappy Marshall, silverface twin, blackface super, a Dr. Z Maz-38. I can't really picture being able to replace this little amp. The only thing I wish it had was a footswitch with a slight gain/volume boost. Someday I'll try out the 20-watt version, the Blackjack, maybe that'll be a cool amp as well. As a side: call me crazy but I actually liked this little amp better than the company's extremely expensive flagship, feature-laden ODS model.

Simple & pure....just the way a "meat & potatoes" amp should be. 4 knob configuration : gain, high, mid, low.

Sound Quality : 10
The tone of this amp is wonderful to my ears. It is a blues player's dream ! I am mainly a blues player and the tone of this amp with a strat, tele, ES-335 or les paul is a soulful delight. The Fuchs Lucky 7 & Blackjack 21 amps are my favorite amps I have ever heard (for blues).....bar none ! This is not a high gain Boogie clone. Hard rockers will not like this amp due to the loose feeling bottom end from the overdriven powersection BUT blues junkies will be in heaven. It's tone falls somewhere between an old Tremolux and Plexi to my ears. It's good for classic rock and country pickin' but blues is where it really shines ! I run my Lucky 7 into a closed back Mojotone 2x12 cab loaded with Celestion greenback 25's.........Simply AWESOME tone !

Reliability : 10
Can't really say because I just bought mine but all I have read and heard has been A+ on Andy's designs and build quality. I have no concerns here.

Top notch customer service ! I sent Andy Fuchs an email with some questions and he responded to me very quickly. Very nice guy.

As I mentioned earlier.....This is a blues player's dream amp. I have been playing guitar for about 20 years and I have owned many, many different tube amps in my day.I do not use any effects at all. I play strats, teles and Gibsons. I like to keep the tone simple and "uncluttered". If I could only own 2 amps in the world to get my mojo workin' ?........Fuchs lucky 7/Blackjack 21 and a Fender blackface super reverb. The cool thing about it is that I own both.

-nuff said ?

very basic features, Gain,Treble, mids, bass, only 7 watts but very loud when cranked, Plenty of head room also which did surprise me for such a low wattage amp. Thanks to www.musictoyz.com for selling such an awesome amplifier

Sound Quality : 9
The lucky 7 is suited for the more plug in and let it rip type player, but if you want that extra kick just throw in a xotic BB preamp pedal which i run with it or whatever box sounds right, it works great with effects directly in front which really surprised me , alot amps i have owned can't handle effects directly in front especially delays and reverbs, I have always loved that Gary Moore still got the blues tone, but i feel the lucky 7 has a much clearer tone then of Gary Moore, so if you are into the moore type sound this will suit you. Very touch responsive so playing solo's is a breeze but like i said a distortion box is needed for that extra sustain AC/DC Fans this is a must have for club level just plug in and play amp so much clarity and very ballsy, forget about your marshall heads give this a try and you won't look at marshall again, marshall's are great the older ones anyway but this is a class above, check out the fuchs website and check out the sound clips of the lucky 7 and make up your own mind, better yet get out and try one, i'm glad i did

Reliability : No Opinion
Haven't had any problems yet, i've owned cheaper amps which never gave me problems so i don't see this baby giving me any

Customer Support : 10
emailed Andy Fuchs once, very quick response , very kind and helpful

Overall Rating : 10
I've owned a $%^& load of amps, most i just couldn't afford to keep, i wish i could of though but i have finally found an amplifier that makes my smile everytime i play it, couldn't be happier
