Features are as complete as I need or have ever had...paralell or seried effects is fantastic for different effects.
Versatility: Scary Jazz cleans, strat cleans, PRS buckers ..sounds like whatever the guitar is supposed to sound like. From '53 tele twang "stones" to George Benson Jazz...Yep that's verstile allright!
One channel but overdrive boost is similar to any 2 channel. Clean acts as preamp for boost channel. This is 'cascading gain stages' well known for awesome O D sound!!
I do wish it had a 'level' on the direct out like my Budda 18 watter...split outputs to Blues Juniors gives huge center-left-right stereo sound at home.
Plenty of power and volume at 30 watts in your typical vintage and R&B cover band. Keeley "Java Boost" & "Cmat mods" compressor into this monster can't be described in words. Best clean boost I have found. OCD is it's usual "Marshall in a box" self.
"D" voiced amps take a tad getting used to...but well worth the short learning curve.

53' tele my Dad bought new, ' 87 PRS I bought new, strats, ES-175, Ibanez AF 125 & others. Of course the '53 tele sounds like only IT can.
Musical style is from jazz to vintage rock in same cover band 15 years. Best 'textured' cleans and reverb I have ever heard & owned and stays clean LOUD...extremely quiet in full tilt overdrive. Sweetest overdrive I have ever played through in 45 years of playing including more high end pedals than I can count. Not brutal or metal at all but very "High Fidelity" from sweet Robin/Carlton to bridge Bucker classic rock but not "hashy" like all the Boogies I've owned. Super "dynamic" amp...tickle or howl !
Strat cleans are very "stringy"..a texture to the notes and chords...very harmonically rich. Takes pedals very well but I'm thinking not much "need" for anything but delay & maybe chorus. This may be my "guitar straight in" amp in time. Fantastic huge sounding amp for home playing and woodshedding...
I LOVE this amp but I must say Budda 18 watter isn't far behind..both are keepers as I can't see EVER selling either one..Fuchs just more high fidelity and super dynamic. ...Budda probably best buy at half the price...that said Fuchs is worth every single cent!
I thank all the seasoned players here who led me to buy it. This amp continues to astound me and my wife loves the sound which is a rare event indeed..."Now THAT amp doesn't sound like all the others!"..first time I've heard that!
If it sounds awesome then it's a 10.

Looks better built than any Boogie (owned 6)..I always take a simple small power amp as backup...top shelf quality here in every way.

Playing 45 years...10 of those as a drummer in 8 years of college. Have owned about 28 amps but never anything close to this except for Budda. ( got 2 modded B-Juniors for stereo at home or tiny gigs..love those little suckers. )
I'd Buy another quick!
I love the unreal high fidelity but better be up on technique as it reproduces every subtle nuance of your playing...slide guitar is unreal. The Overdrive is the sweetest, smoothest, most expressive I have ever played through.
Experience has no substitute. The players in the band are all far better than myself. If you are a gigger (play live/studio) you know that an amp sounding great at home and "in the mix" of a band are 2 completely different things. Fuchs sits very well in our mix playing what most vintage cover bands play...but YOUR band mix may be very different. I count on my bud's opinion very much for their experienced ears. Heavy metal look elsewhere as always with me, but this is certainly one of the best amps at any price for seasoned players and woodshedders...very inspiritational...hard to stop playing this amp...sell the farm..sell a kidney...but own one of these at sometime in your short lives as it's worth every cent and then some!

Mine is a used 50 Watt combo serial no 214 so it is without SLX-mod.
Best feature is its portable size and weight. I??ve never had an amp which is so small and sounds sooo big. And the power and clean headroom of that little amp is amazing.
It has a lot of features to fine-tune the overall sound but I would prefer separate sound shaping tools only for the drive channel.

I only use selfmade guitars, one of a kind. One mahagony body/maple neck with Bartolini Mini-Humbuckers, one korina body/maple neck with three P-90 pickups and one Cedro/maple semiacoustic body / mahogany neck with Voodoo PAF??s.
I play mostly jazzy bluesy funky stuff and some fusion and latin too.
Nothing to heavy. I am relying mostly on a good clean sound and sometimes I like to have medium overdrive gain sounds too.
The FUCHS delivers exactly what I want for my styles.
The clean sound has an outstanding fullness and clarity, a punch that is really hitting you and an amazing clean headroom. Also the amp sounds much bigger as it looks. The tone controls really work very well and useful and there are a lot of good sounds/sweet spots available. The amp shows the differences between pickups and guitars very well.
I must say, that I??ve replaced the Eminence Red White & Blues speaker almost instantly. This is one of the worst speakers I??ve come across. Stiff and unmusical. Dark in the top end, very clean (which is not bad actually) and it does not compress at all, at least at the levels I play.
After some testing I finally put a well broken in Eminence Red Fang Alnico speaker into the combo and it really opened up in the top end, shimmering details appeared suddenly and the sound became 3D instead of 1D. Sweet and musical.
Playing with the clean channel and my Hughes&Kettner REPLEX delay in front of the amp is so inspiring that I did not touch the lead channel very often since the speaker change.
I think, the amp likes the single coil/P90 more than humbuckers but that??s maybe just my personal taste.
I must say I am not that impressed with the lead channel yet, but I did not invest much time exploring it yet, because the clean channel is so good. My Teardrop amp, which is also a Dumble style amp is better in the Drive channel I think.
But I have discoverd some little trimcontrols inside the amp to fine-tune the drive channel (bass, treble, overdrive) and as soon I??ve checked these out completely I??ll give a follow up.
Other than that I am completely satisfied with the amp and if it had only the clean I would still be very happy and the amp would be still worth the money I??ve spent.

I play guitar since 30 years and I was always thinking that a good sound is essential to my playing. If I can??t play extraordinary, it should at least sound extraordinary. I was intersted in Hifi earlier and I think I??ve rather trained ears. I am comparing a lot (tubes, speakers, amps, guitars, pickups), actually too much. I should better practise more....
I??ve had several Riveras, VHT, Soldano, Fender, Peavey, several Boogies, Hughes & Kettner, Ashdown amps.
Now I only own a Toneking Meteor II combo a Teardrop head (Dutch made amp)and the FUCHS.
Each of them is a piece of art and has it??s own strenghts. But the FUCHS is the amp which I choose for Band rehearsals and the occasional jazz jam sessions. It??s the perfect grab and go amp with a very inspiring clean sound.

I wanted to post a follow-up review (see my first review just below this one). I have now oned this Fuchs ODS-50 SLX 1x12 combo for just over two years and I'm even more pleased with it now than I was when I brought it home.
I have made a few minor changes to the amp over time. I swapped out the Sovtek/Ruby tube compliment that came stock in the amp for Andy's current preference of Tung-Sol reissue 12AX7's and TAD small-bottle 6L6 output tubes. I swapped the stock Eminence Wizard speaker for an 80's 200watt EVM-12L. I also sent the amp back to Andy for a few minor SLX updates. With each change came improvements in both tone and responsiveness - more than I thought possible given how fantastic the amp was when I purhased it.
I have to say that I couldn't be more pleased with the amp. I haven't found an application for which it is anything less than ideally suited. It always inspires me and it always fits just right sonically. This amp is simply amazing for me! It still rates a solid 10 in my book!

My amp is a 2005 Fuchs ODS 50watt SLX 1x12 combo. This one has the Eminence Wizard speaker at 4ohms. It is an all tube design (except for the reverb) with a matched pair of 6L6's and four 12AX7's. On the front panel the controls are: Gain, Brite switch, Deep switch, Rock, Jazz switch, High w/Mid Boost pull switch, Mid w/ Gain Boost pull switch, Low, Overdrive In, Overdrive Out, Master Volume, Accent, and Reverb. The rear panel has one each 4ohm and 8ohm speaker outputs, Effects Send w/level, Effects Return w/level, Series/Parallel switch for loop, and a Trim level switch for the loop. It has the two button footswitch for clean/overdrive and reverb on/off. The enclosure is rear ported and tuned for a full, balanced tone. It is covered with smooth blonde tolex with 'tweed' era grillcloth, and white piping. The chassis has a black faceplate and creme knobs. It is very feature rich for this type of amplifier. It's features are very useful and there's no fluff. It's all about tone. The 50 watt

I just bought this amp this week but I spent considerable time demo'ing the amp prior to purchase so I'm very familiar with the amp. The Fuchs ODS is a tone machine like no other I have ever used or owned. It has more than a subtle lean in the Dumble direction. It is amazingly articulate and detailed amp. This can be unnerving as there is much more detail amplified than I am used to in other amps - mistakes and poor technique are under the spotlight with all of the good stuff. I like this aspect though - it will help me improve and develop my technique. Wonderful harmonic complexity, very 3D! It's a fast amp - extremely responsive to player input. The tone shaping options are very useful and seem quite intuitive after just a short time with the amp. The clean tones are amazing and complex. Notes bloom and swell into even-order harmonic feedback when dead clean - amazing! The overdrive is actually developed after the clean preamp so it's a little different than a channel switcher in design but very similar in operation. The resulting OD tones are outstanding! The Jazz/Rock switch allows for both smooth and rude. While these amps get alot of play time with fusion players this thing will ROCK!!!! There's alot of gain on tap and the tone never becomes over compressed - it just sings with a beautifully rich voice. The enclosure/speaker is a perfect match for the amp too. It's very full and balanced. There's such a wide range of tones available to me and I've just begun to scratch the surface. The tone remains full and expressive even when the master volume is set to 2:AM apartment levels - it's not the same overall tone and response as when the master is set high enough for the amp and speaker to interact but the tone is equally as pleasing. This is the first review that I've ever given a 10 in sound quality. Even if I find something that suits me better down the road (very unlikely) it still deserves a 10. This amp is an extension of the player and musical in every way!

I have been playeng ~25 years and I have owned many vintage and botique amplifiers in that time. I have had a few real standouts - '71 Marshall JMP 50, '58 Fender 'narrow panel' tweed Deluxe, '61 blonde Bassman head, '64 blacface Pro 1x15 combo, '82 Fender Super Champ, '92 THD Plexi head, '98 Rivera Jake combo - these were all fantastic amps with amazing tones. The Fuchs ODS 50 SLX 1x12 combo is the most expressive and toneful amp I have ever owned or played by a very wide margin! Were the amp to be stolen or lost I would drop cash for another without a second thought. I haven't really found anything about the amp that I dislike - great tone and response, full balanced tone that fill a room, and a small easy to carry package. It may jsut be the perfect amp for me. Having owned over 40 amps in 25 years I cannot with absolute certainty state that this is the last amp I'll ever buy but I can't see ever getting rid of it.

Purchased this amp new in Feb 2004. It is very versatile, you can go from very clean, warm to heavily overdriven sound and almost everything in between. The amp is one channel with effects loops (which I do not use). I play this amp and home and with my band at various indoor and outdoor venues. It has plenty of power when playing with the band, and real nice feature is playing at home at low volume is still sounds great.

I play blues, rock and classical. I have a custom PRS and a an American Strat with Lace sensor pickups. Playing the PRS through this amp is a totally incredible sound experience. If you like that Dumble sound it doesn't get any better than the Fuchs. The Strat sounds great, but doesn't generate that really nice warm sustain as the PRS with humbuckers. I also have a pickup in one of my classical guitars and can get a very clean, accurate sound with ODS50.
The cleans are really clean and the distortion is not over the top, but just very well defined.
It is not at the point where you can't distinguish notes.
All I can say is the sound is worth every cent you pay for the amp.

I've been playing for 35 years and this is by far the best amp I have ever owned. Previously owned Mesa Boogies, Fenders, and Vox amps. Tried out a number of boutique amps before buying the ODS50 combo. For my style of playing I definetely made the right decision. Once you start playing thru this amp it is had to stop. The tones you can get are addictive. If it were stolen I'd buy another.

Bought it new. It's ideal for many styles, I use it for Blues, Fusion and hand made Rock. The two channels work very well, no hum at all!!! The 2 channel footswitch can be upgraded with 4 or 6 switches (expensive!). If you buy it new you should order the 2 switch with gain and gain Boost (not reverb). For more infos go fuchsaudiotechnologie.com homepage. The ventilator bothers a bit.

I play it with a 72 Gibson Les Paul Custom and a 65 Relic Strat with original Pick ups. I was with my Strat in a music shop, saw this amp and had never heard about before. I checked out and was absolutely blown away. What a dynamic and brilliant Sound. The clean sound is not clipping with the single coils, but you get it a bit distorted with the Les Paul. The Distortion is like you want it, brilliant in any setting. 100% Dumble.

I'm playing since 25 years, I sold an Fender Amp and Custom Telecaster to get this Amp. There is no other Amp like this on market. I checked them all. The dynamic and the tone, clear or distorted made me immediately loving this amp. I'm shure I found my tone now. Nothing, absolutely nothing I would have changed on the tone.

This was a new 1x12 50W Overdrive Supreme with effects loop. The speaker is a EV 12L, and the amp uses EL34 tubes. Also has a channel switch foot pedal and a nice naugahyde cover. Since I bought it custom it came with everything I wanted. It switches between a nice mellow jazz mode and a loud scrappy rock/blues mode. The amp also has a attenuator feature to cut the power for studio or home uses. My only gripe is I wish a few of the back panel switches/plugs had better labeling. On arrival the amp showed up well packed in a box with bubble wrap. Nary a scratch present. $50 shipping from Fuchs HQ in New Jersey to California.

I originally choose Fuchs and the Overdrive Supreme because I wanted a Dumble without paying for a Dumble. I got what I paid for. I have several amps, from Marshall to Mesa/Boogie and this is the best damn amp I have. If you are a Dumble seeker and are considering the Two Rock or something like that, don't bother. I checked them out prior to buying the OS and they are equal or lesser amps for significantly more cash. Just get a Fuchs.
The sound of this amp is so varied I don't know where to begin. I could not dial up anything lame on the amp. It has a wide range of beautiful harmonics, is loud in just the perfect way and responds amazingly well. It's best feature is the careful response it has. It picked up the most subtle of picking and never stomped on anything I threw at it. I play jazz and blues and some experimental stuff and it is appropriate for all three, although leaning to the blues end of the spectrum. Probably sounds fantastic with a ES 175 or 335 with nothing else. I play it with a few different axes, from a Ibanez X-series Flying V to a Subway Guitars Strat Custom with EMG pickups. It sounds great with my '68 reissue Telecaster as well. This amp doesn't lose a thing.

I've had the amp a scant week, but it is clear the thing is "Built Like a Tank"(TM). The chassis is a beautiful clear maple and is solid as heck. All other components from the switches to the foot pedel are obviously built with the highest quality components and craftsmanship. I honestly think the beast can take a few rounds and still sing. I wouldn't hesitate taking it on the road, although I would be concerned about it being stolen. Get insurance.

Andy Fuchs was super nice to deal with and very knowledgeable. I handled everything through email without a hitch. As with most custom gear, be prepared to wait a bit for the goods. You can't rush quality though and it's all worth it when you fire that puppy up. A class operation all around. Only matched by my dealings with Lorenzo Gurman at Klein Electric. Much better than buying some cheesy POS off the shelf at Guitar Center.
