Purchased the amp new in 2005. This is a versatile amp and can be used for all styles of music with the exceception of maybe metal.
I have the 4 button artist footswitch. I wish it had separate volume controls for each channel. This amp is plenty loud. i would not need one bigger unless I was playing in a stadium.

I use several different guitars with this. I have 3 Eric Johnson strats, a mexican reverse strat, a Gibson custom shop 57 reissue Les Paul, and a Gibson Flying V. Georgeous clean tones, the thing about this amp is it is very articulate and clear. You cannot play sloppy with this amp, Mistakes that you make on other amps that may not be noticeable are very noticable with this amp.Like another reviewer said every flaw in your technique will show. The Overdrive channel is amazing. Singing violin like sustain. Love it! Even at low volumes. A very touch sensitve amp. The tone is very focused. I like the reverb as well.very versatile.

I have owned the amp for three years without any problems.

I have been playing for over 30 years. I also own a Fender Hot Rod Deville and a Marshall DSL 100. If it were stolen I would definately want another, probably a Triple Drive Supreme.

Features as listed elsewhere: clean and overdrive channels, 2x6L6, reverb, effects loop, 6-way footswitch, gain boost, mid boost, etc etc.
The 6-way footswitch is optional, and worth having if you want to get the most out of the amp live. It gives you Reverb on/off, OD on/off, Gain boost on/off, Mid boost on/off, FX bypass on/off, and Mute.
It's plenty loud enough for most situations and there's all the clean headroom you could want, so would suit country and jazz as well as styles where the overdrive sounds are needed. I have no idea if it would suit metal etc - there are plenty of other amps for that, so I don't think metalheads would be bothering with one of these.

This is a very high quality amp and the sounds it's capable of are pretty distinctive. You can make it sound like a piece of crap if you want to (and at least one 'reviewer' on YouTube does exactly that although he seems to think he's smoking) but with a tiny bit of application, you will find beautiful tones that make people sit up and take notice. It's really an amp to PLAY - I mean by taking some time to find settings that suit your touch and dynamics. If you are sloppy and don't take care with attack and dynamics, your vices will be exposed ruthlessly! On the other hand, since there's no room to hide, if you spend any time with this amp your playing will improve a lot.
Because it's renowned for it's D-style overdrive sounds, it's tempting to let this aspect predominate. And you CAN get on the same street as Robben Ford and Larry Carlton if that's what you want...it will sound like a big bubbling vat of hot fudge sauce if you wack up the Overdrive. But it's by no means all the amp does and in fact I found the sound I prefer by pushing the amp almost in the other direction - towards a cleaner, punchier sound with just a hint of fudge when driven hard. (I replaced the 12AX7 on the overdrive circuit with an ECC81 to give it a cleaner edge - works well). Push the Master vol up high and rein back on the Overdrive, then you get a really good transparent shimmering top end that darkens and deepens when pushed by hard picking. It's a good amp to drive from the guitar.
Another good thing about the amp is that you can get singing sustain and beautiful overdrive at very low volumes if you have to. Not the way I'd prefer to run it, but you can't always choose!

It's a valve (tube) amp...you've always got something that needs attention. Valves wear out. But it's very strongly built so I wouldn't expect trouble with it. It's a bit of a pain that you have to pull the entire chassis out to change the preamp valves, and you have to have (or be) a tech-savvy person to bias new power valves, but that's about it. I've had mine about 18 months and it's been fine. On the basis of build quality I'd rate it 9.

In the UK the dealer is in Glasgow, so that's too far for me to go if I need repairs. But Andy Fuchs is very responsive by email and has helped with circuit diagrams and will handhold techs working on the amp. I am considering a couple of mods to shape the boost responses, and Andy has offered to walk my tech through the necessary replacement of resistors etc. High score for response from the manufacturer, but a dealer in London would be useful.

I would say this isn't a plug and play amp. It's for a player who really wants to find some sounds that are distinctive and expressive, and if you put in the effort to do that you will be rewarded with something really special. You need to work at that until you find the settings that shine for you. If you want instant Robben Ford a Zendrive pedal would be cheaper.
I find most other amps one-dimensional by comparison: you can get good sounds out of lots of amps, but they often don't have a lot of nuance and variety within each sound. With this amp, you can really get a lot more expression out of your playing - if your technique is up to it. And if you are taking that much trouble over your tone, you might want to tweak things inside the amp, as I am doing. Fuchs does a custom-voicing service for people who want to adjust the amp's responses...but you've got to have a dealer do that.
I'm giving it a rating of 10, which is dubbed 'fantastic value'. Well....it's not cheap, that's for sure, so great value is not the first thing you might think. On the other hand if something is expensive but outstandingly good and you get a lot of pleasure from it, that's better value than something else that's less costly but not much good. It's a lot cheaper than many other D-style amps -about half the price (I think) of the equivalent Two-Rock for example.

This amp is supposed to replicate a Dumble amp.
The clean channel is sprkly, and the overdrive channel compresses nicely.
This is a blues/jazz amp.
Maybe classic rock.
Noisy?
Yes, it has a hum...not point to point, circuit board, but the hum is low level, still annoying.

Once again...Andy is top notch, he makes it right!
No worries on this front, and no fear of a "condescending attitude" from him, he's a very nice, very professional gentleman.

I've been playing for 20 years...(am I THAT old?)
The Fuchs is great for blues, and jazz, once again maybe classic rock.
It's a good amp.......OH and I have A/B'd it against the "conversion mod" and the "production" model.......and well................to be honest, I didn't hear a difference.
Maybe if you were "overly" anal about it, and scoped it, but my ears didn't hear a $1000+ dollar difference in the price......so do yourselves a favor and realize if they are talking about a difference in tone.....if you have normal ears....you can buy the conversion mod and save yourselves a bundle!
