This amp is pretty fun to dick with. It has spring reverb, and tremelo, and though it is solid state, it sounds suprisingly warm. I was playing Close to the edge on it tonight, and managed to kinda-get that "twin reverb" sound. Like the other dude said, its pretty LOUD. DONT play with fire....i hurt my ears. Infact, it was so loud at one point, my ears built up ear wax to protect themselves. I could not hear any high end! True story! I play twangy jazz/funk progressive style, so this amp suits me fine. I think this is early early 80s.

The distortion is more like a tube sounding fuzz...but really twangy and vibey. Loud as hell.

VERY reliable. This thing wont break down...like an American car...simple, and probably VERY cheap, but reliable.

Nah....this amp is way to old to deal with that.

I ran my Rhodes thru this amp, and recieved a fairly sympathetic tone. And its not easy to get my Rhodes to sound good either!

2-channel solid-state combo with 2 12's. Tremolo (channel 2 only) and reverb. 3-way eq on both channels, but for some reason, mid. eq control was labeled "middle" on channel A, and "contour" on B. Plethora of inputs and outputs- ins were -10 db and normal for both channels, switchable A/B, outs were main and aux. speaker (4 and 8 ohm switchable!) preamp out/pwr amp in (what the heck was that for? I never figured it out) and even a 110-volt non-swtched output. Foot switch was wired for either channel A, B or both (custom switch, not GK), and reverb and/or tremolo Way loud, BTW. Lacked chorus- part of the reason I sold it.

Very loud- at the expense of quiet. By that, I mean you could not play low thru this amp. Crack open the vol. and it screamed. Crank it up and YOU screamed, running from the room with your ears bleeding. Other than that, somewhat limited- vol. and master vol. (instead of gain) were touchy, hard to get just a little gain- little more little more little more WHOA TOO MUCH. I bought it much for the tremolo, but guess what? I never really used that feature much. Noisy, too- 60-cycle hum was augmented by distortion that developed in clean channel. Sure was loud, though. Whew!

Hardly ever gigged with it, because of the noise/concern it would worsen during the gig, and it being just too damn loud. Hard to get it balanced with everyone else. And lest you just think I'm getting old, I replaced it with a G-K 250ML, and I love it- miss the tremolo, which I only played with anyway, and can turn it down or up, and can drive many speakers loudly no problem- the 200G was a mis-step for me.

I was disapointed when I brought it to a shop for repair- GK will only play ball with GK authorized dealers- if you don't stock their stuff, you are fully on your own on repairs- no schematics, no specs, no dealer support, no nothin'! And their web page lacks a "contact us" spot- a distrubing trend in websites, I have noticed. For that reason, they get a 1.

Been playing most of my life, but much more seriously for the last 3 years. I sold it, but if it had been stolen, I would not have missed it much, and would have gotten a perverse pleasure out of knowing that the theif would have lost his hearing had he cranked it up. Never really loved this amp. Hated the high-volume-only habits of the thing. Don't miss it. GK only makes bass amps these days- I have never seen another one of these, so I suspect it was not a great amp. The guy who bought it seems happy with it, though, so what do I know?
