Mine has the Mann logo on it. I tried a few amps at a music store and wow! . It sounded so good I bought it for $250 Canadian . After taking it home I did some research and this is apparently made by Grrnet and referred to as "Stencil" anps rebranded by others such as Sears,Mann,Viscount,United etc. Bottom line is these Garnet made amps are the best kept secret out there in tube amps. This is a basic vintage setup most comparable to a blackface Fender or Musicman 1x12 combo.
It does not have standby or speaker extension. No Nonsense amp built like a tank and beautifully proportioned about 20x20x10". Speaker is a bit bright and limited so I replaced it with a new Jensen c12r.
What a difference. I will try a JBL d112 eventually.

Sound Quality : 10
This is where this amp shines. Very hard to put in words what it sounds like but I believe it is somewhere between a Musicman rd50 and a Fender Deluxe. I believe rectifier is solid state. Preamp tubes are 12ax7 and 12au7. Output tubes are a pair of 6v6's but really sounds like 6l6's.
Folks this amp really sounds incredible at any price. I bought this to get a different unique sound for a change and it paid off.Amp is quiet but probably should be upgraded with three prong plug for better grounding.I have a super 400 and base is a lot stronger than my musicman. Beats my princeton reverb hands down in richness and dynamics.I play Chet stuff and this amp is as clean as I want it to be but am dying to try the JBL on it.

Reliability : No Opinion
No problems yet.

Overall a very worthy vintage competitor to Fender or Musicman in a 1x12 ,2-6L6 6V6 category. This amp will not take a back seat to the vintage competition. Can't be beat for a true warm tube sound at any price. Very well constructed with quality hand wired construction.
Speaker is the weak link but replacing with a modern Jensen is a very good move.Tone shaping is a tad better than competitors.
With a big archtop it sounds as like you are playing through a 1x15 cabinet.
I would have payed double with no regrets.
I have no idea how many of these Gems are out there but I have not seen many at all. Check it out !

ALL Tube , immaculate,This Amp Actually has a SEARS Electronics Logo on the top Left of the front Grey/Sparkly Grill cloth. Having the ORIGINAL power cord (2 prong) AND the original Sears Warranty/Card that I keep in a plastic bag intact. I did some sherlock holmes work, and alas,, i found it to be a GARNETT AMP. ABSOFU$@#INGLUTELY Mint shape, single input,VOL, TONE,REVERB (small tank), AND TREMELO. Also separate foot sw inputs for trem and reverb.(like the other revue for a D15 model). It was made approximately 1975-77 i beleive. I actually spoke with Gar Gillies about 2 years ago, and he confirmed the model #.(Model # was actually in serial number box, and vice-versa on spec plate on back. There was a 12AU7 tube in it, and Gar said to put in a 12AT7 type in it ,and I could squeeze a tad more power out of it. It did. Its approx. 14-18 watts or so. He said "it was designed as a student amp" that were made for Sears Canada. 2x 12" Made in Canada GV1215 speakers(Eminence?not sure)with Grey grill cloth(no tears whatsoever), top mount controls with chicken head knobs. It has no distortion, just straight ahead (I think class A) clean power. Reverb and Trem still work. I replaced the odd tube configuration 6V6 tubes with Canadian made GE 6L6 tubes. No difference though in output.Gar said it would'nt either. I LOVE THIS AMP!!!! Its absolutely mint;not a scratch, tear, dent, or beer stain on it anywhere. I bought it off an older east indian fellow, who had an add out saying it was a Silvertone amp. Went to see it, and it was sittin in the dining room , with a cover on it that his wife stiched up to keep it protected. He was the original owner. Its got enough power, and I ONLY use it in my bedroom. Its a piece of house furniture when I got it, and it will stay that way. HELL, for a $120 canadian, it has more than that in material alone. I changed the power original power cord (ooh i still have it!)with a 3 prong, for protection since Ive already been ZAPPED~~~ by it a few times. No effect loop, or footswitch.Hell, who cares for that price.

Sounds very,,,,well TUBEY!! Its got that fender blackface sound, but yet it has its own character. Its hard for me to say what fender amp it sounds like, but most definately fender. More midrangy though i think. Since I havent been able to take it out of the house, I havent even had the chance to crank it. Its loud for 15-18 watts though. At higher volumes it does tend to give a slight vibration. Not sure if its the tubes, or the speakers having a slight bit of damage in center cone somewhere. I play all kinds of music. Irish ballads, Santana, Rush,Pink Floyd,Bush, and of course Englebert Humperdink,,oh and Tom Jones(Its not un-usuall to be loved by anyone...)

Hell, its still working after all these years. I think it may need a going over though. Caps, rectifier, and speakers need to be tested, as well as the tube biasing. Its fine for now though. I dont gig with this puppy.....nooooo sirrry bob!!

Spoke with Gar, and haven't (at time of this write up) had servicing. It works. good enuf fer me. Warranty? ooookay. I heard he will fix the amp for a nominal fee, but Im affraid to ship the bastard out for fear of the courier doin one of those Ace Ventura;pet detective things on it. Gar was great, and it was an honour speaking with the man. I do wish it had Garnett as the nameplate though. The Sears Electronics Logo does not do it justice.

I own a Marshall VS265R amp from 97. Have a PRS Custom 24 10top; a 1986 '59 Re-issue les paul AAA flame top cherry.(gotta love it, and made properly at Gibson), a Jap Tele SQ serial # from early eighties.(xcellent at $200 canadian)swampash, and a 20 year old Yamaha SA800(same as Gibson 335. If it were lost or stolen, ...well Id guess Id be shit out of luck now wouldnt I? Hmmmm.

feel free to email me if you can share something in common about the amp, or have any tips. No its not for sale.
