I got my GB 212 used. It's the old style with the side handles.
The back has three jacks labeled "8-ohm left," "4-ohm mono (right)," and "mono extension jack." The only jack or combination of jacks that produced a decent sound with my equipment was the left/right pair. I don't understand why I couldn't get a decent sound with the "4-ohm mono."
Aside from the jack plate, the cabinet was built to outlast the pyramids of Egypt and, for whatever it's worth, it has a very pleasing appearance.

I use a Gibson ES-330TD with some classy, 1960's, Gibson chromed pickups that I haven't identified. For power I have a 1970's, 135-watt, Fender PA tube amp. I play old standards from the 40's and 50's and early blues (a la Big Bill Broozy).
The mid- and high frequencies are excellent, but I don't know if they are much better in the GB than in other good cabinets. However, the bass is not to be believed. No boom, no mush, nothing but the cleanest, clearest, fullest, most natural-sounding bass you've ever heard in your life. I had no idea my ES-330 could sound like it does with the GB. The cabinet sort of breathes out bass like a living thing; I don't know how else to describe it. No doubt the tuned ports are largely responsible.

As I say, it's built to outlast the pyramids except for the plastic plate supporting the jacks and the plastic nuts holding the jacks to the plate. One nut had already come loose and fallen off. Why all the plastic in an otherwise rugged cabinet?

I've been playing for 45 years. I also own a Taylor 812C acoustic. If I lost my GB 212, I'd have to buy another one just like it.

This cab is a 2002 I believe. As far as cabinets go, it's fairly versatile. It's not switchable stereo, but it's got jacks to suit pretty much any use you can come up with and is labeled extremely well.

This cabinet is just plain SICK! I have never played through anything that sounded this good! I play a wide range of music anywhere from Slayer and Morbid Angel to Pat Green and the Refreshments.
My style is predominantly metal, hardcore, and hard rock. My setup currently consists of a few various mid-level guitars including a Schecter Scorpion Baritone with either Dimarzio Super Distortions or SD Invaders into a Marshall AVT150H with a BBE 482 S.M. in the effects loop. The sound of this cab hits you square in the chest when you crunch. It is unbelievable. What is even more amazing is that the clean sounds are super-punchy as well. I want to buy another one to run a godlike 4x12 setup with these cabs.
This cab handles the sparkling clean sound or jaw-crushing distortion at any volume. The ports allow for some rediculous bass response. I tuned my baritone down to low A and the clarity was amazing. I never thought a cabinet could make that much difference in my tone. I was wrong by a longshot.

This cab seems pretty solid. I don't plan on throwing it off the roof so I'm sure it'll hold up. Since I spend $440 on the thing I'm going to search for a cover very soon.

I've been playing guitar for about 18 years now and have tried just about everything under the sun. I can finally say that my setup is exactly how I want it thanks to this cab. If it were stolen or lost I would be inconsolable until it was replaced, and it WOULD be replaced! I compared this cab to the Marshall 1960A/B and a Randall 412CX (Celestion Equipped) and a Peavey 412MS. This cab just ruled them all for tone, clarity, and punch. I don't think I'd add anything to this cab. I would however definitely add one more of these cabs to my setup eventually, but I'd drown out the rest of the band mwahahahahaha!!
The only other thing I would add is that prior to owning this cab I never would have thought a cabinet could make that much difference in my tone. I'll never turn back now. This cabinet is the be all end all as far as I'm concerned.

Best sounding cab I've ever heard. Better than Mesa Rectifier cabs (2x12 and 4x12), Marshall cabs, and the Peavey 5150 4x12 I had before this. All sounds bass, mids, treble, sound great and are clear. Huge-sounding cab, bigger than other 4x12s. Amazing. Sounds great with distortion, clean, or anything in between. I use a Gibson Les Paul Studio.

I hurt my back lifting my 4x12 cab (Peavey 5150 straight cab) into my truck when going to band practice, so I decided to get a 2x12 instead. 60 lbs compared with 96 lbs. I used to own a Mesa 2x12 and the Genz Benz in my opinion sounds a lot better. Of course, having a Rivera Knucklehead 55 for an amplifier helps too. I am completely satisfied and my back is happier too.

Not many features as it is a cabinet. it does have recessed handles and generally good construction. weighs 60 lbs, not sure if that's reasonable but one could always use a lighter cabinet. overall, i give it a 9 just because it's not THE most feature filled cab. however, it does what it's supposed to.

i must tell you, i was a bit skeptical at first. friends of mine told me that this was a great cab. after trying it, i was impressed. the bass response is so tight and focused. no odd noises, just beautiful tone. i currently run an SG with dimarzio pickups through a POD pro, Lexicon MPX 500, and a peavy 260 power amp. i could not believe the difference in tone from other 4x12's i've had. i had a crate 4x12, with the crate speakers. it was not that great, but then again, i really did not pay that much. had a genz-benz 4x12, had serious problems with resonance. when i used high gain settings, with the bass turned up, i would get a horrible, for a lack of batter term, "farting" noise when ever i did palm muting with certain chords. this cab has never made a terrible sound, no matter how much the gain and bass is turned up. also, even jazz-like clean channels can benefit form this cab. in general the best damn cabinet that i've heard in a long time. it blows away 4x12's in terms of tone AND volume. highly reccomended.

seems well built, i anticipate no problems, so i would definately play without a backup. however, with the POD pro, i could always just plug directly into the sound board so the show could go on.

previously, i had e-mailed genz-benz about the problems that i had had, and i recieved an e-mail from the owner of the company. he was as helpfuls as he could be, given the description that i gave him. however, the second time that i mailed, it took nearly two weeks before i got a reply. essentially they reffered me to the place that i purchased the cab. i was a bit annoyed that i could not get a straight reply to why the 4x12 made some terrible noises.

Made in 2001. The cabinet is made of "ratiata pine", (which is not advertised: I askde them... if I were them, I'd put that on the website along with a commetn on quality). Features custom TubeWorks 75W speakers, (ahem: TubeWorks IS GenzBenz: same company). Cabinet can be run in stereo (75W per side) or mono (150W).
Cabinet design is great: very tight, closed back, very deep (as deep as any other cabinet out there), adn also a bit taller than most, with a port beneath the speakers, intended to further enhance bass output. This apparently works, since these things really do push a lot of air.
Of course, there aren't many "features" to speak of in a cabinet, but I'd say this ranks right up there with the best of 'em: I can't think of much more that one could want...
I give a '9', but would give a '10' if speaker options were available... and I'd also like to know how "ratiata pine" stacks up (in theory) against "birch plywood" which most other high end cabinets are made of.

This cabinet really pushes the air: you get amazing natural compression, so it's great for hard rock. Let's face it: it's George Lynch's signature cabinet: so it's good for great 80's hard rock sort of use.
It is NOT noisy: with a head, it should be as quiet as anything else you care to use. Also, if you're running a combo amp with this in the 2nd speaker output, it will be just as quiet as whatever is in your combo. (Trust me: I hooked it into a Carr Slant 6V, which is an AMAZINGLY quiet amplifier, and it was STILL JUST AS QUIET with the G-flex hooked up... also still sounded GREAT... had the air from the open-backed Slant 6V, but added punch from the G-flex... quite the combo!)
Again, I can only give this a '9'... not because I wish to be nasty, but because I simply can't comprehend a '10' for sound quality in a cabinet... however, even though this is a '9'... trust me: it sounds absoluetly phenomenal, especialyl if you're looking at it for any kind of rock (hard rock, metal) application.

N/A... I've only heard good things about them. I emailed them to ask what wood is used in the cabinet, and they responded very quickly (next working day), which is great considering that wasn't even a "support" issue, but more of a ho-hum sorta question.

I've been at it over 13 years, and have played quite a bit of stuff, but mostly combo amps up 'til now, so this is my first 212 cabinet. I use a McInturff Sportster and am still lokoing for the perfect Strat... using a Carr Slant 6V combo, and am still seeking the perfect EL34 amp to run through this G-flex.
If stolen, I'd be pissed... cannot say as to whether I'd get the same thing or not, since this is the first 212 cab I've tried (other than a few in stores)... I'd be very tempted to try a DD, VHT, Bogner, or Jenkins cabinet... but who knows... that's just GAS. So far, this cabinet was the best thing available in my area, and in THAT sense, yes, I'd get the same thing again.
Love: the design, even the looks... Hate: nothing as of yet.
I compared to Mesa Recto cab and Marshall 1936 cab... the Marshall wasn't even close for tonal quality or "boom", but the Mesa was very nice... that was spendier, though, and just didn't look as "cool", nor did it have the ported design... (I'm still not sure how necessary the ported design is... but what the hey... it certainly doesn't detract from the tone, and it LOOKS cool... so... whatever...)
I wish we had speaker options... in fact, I may futz around with other speakers at some point... that's just a MAYBE, though. Despite the '9's above... overall value is definitely a '10'... it was a fair price for a GREAT cabinet.

I use this cab with a Mesa Boogie Tremoverb head, Fender Big Apple, American Double Fat Strats, and it really is a great match. The porting on the bottom of the cab really creates some serious low-end that stays pretty focused. There's a really nice midrange presence that's not "honky", but biting, very nice. The distortion from my amp is just huge through this cab, nice and tight, and the clean is also pretty darn good. It's heavy for a 2x12, but not as big and bulky as a 4x12 which I really like, but the main thing is that it sounds as big as any 4x12 I've every played through. Excellent.

This is a great cab for rock music, especially hard rock or metal. If you don't want the size and bulk of a 4x12, but want the type of sound that they produce then this is the cab for you. Veratile (mono or stereo), great low-end chunk, huge sound. I used to own a 4x12 Recto cab that sounded great, but was just too damn big for my needs. The G-Flex is just as good and is half the size and weight. If you looking for a cab (2x12 or 4x12) you should check out the G-Flex.

2-4ohm inputs for spliting the speakers or 1-8 ohm input for series operation. Sound ports at the bottom front and the extra 1" or 2" in depth give the cab tons of bottom without sacrificing the treble.

Rich full bodied sound. If you are disappointed with your tube amo, simply unplug the stock speaker and plug it into this baby and enter the real world of sound!!! It's the difference between a 2 deminsional pin-up and getting to kiss the actual centerfold--no comarision. The only cabinet that close is the Mesa 2x12 road cab.

Initial opinion of the cabinet is fantastic. I bought it without first hearing it or playing thru it. I've been using an early 80's Carvin 4x12 cab with celestions,..this 2x12 is as strong as the 4x12 and sounds better! It has mega low end and nice even response for the upper registers without getting harsh even with high treble EQ settings. It was amazing to crank the resonance feature on my 5150 and have the cabinet respond.

I've only had the cab for a few days. It seems to be put together very well. I baby my equipment so I doubt i'd have any problems. It's doesn't seem as beefy as my Carvin 4x12, but it's a heavy little sucker.

Comes with a 3 year transferable warranty,..only if you have the original sales slip. Seems to me that regardless of if you have the original sales slip, that you should get warranty service for the 3 year period starting when the cabinet was assembled. Genz Benz could track this date via the serial number no matter who owned the cab. Just my thoughts.

Overall I think this cab would be excellent for any style of music. Obviously it excels in the rock/metal/alternative/grunge/etc...yada yada yada category, after all it is a Lynch signature cab. but i'm sure that it would perform well at all levels. Can't wait to get one of the new Peavey Triple X's to push this new cab and see what it sounds like.

Fantastic cab. speakers sound just as good if not better than celestions. Great projection. The flex was a fantastic idea, it really
spreads out the sound. One of the best 2x12 out there. The only thing
I did'nt like about this cab was the cheap plastic name plate on the
front.

It Takes abit to get the sound you want,
For example... If you are running straight from a Head you can just Crank it up. If you are running through an EQ or FX
processor you need to keep an eye on the level of the Bass. Because the 212 is ported at the bottom, You get The BEST lows,
but you have to sacrifice Bass for Volume, when working with an EQ or FX. Just Check Levels When in use.

Very Dependable!!!
I hooked it up to a Marshal JCM2000 TSL super lead Head
and Ran against A Marshal 4x12 Cb,
It Blew it out of the water up 70% sound level
The Genz Benz Handled up 50% before Bass adjustments and then,
began to distort at 70%
The Marshal Handled up to 65% before bass adjustments and began to distort at 90%.
Even so The Sound quality was no where near close to the Genz Benz
The Bass and low-mids were perfect for Metal Grunge or Groove Core
Which is perfect for my needs
Besides the amp test was fine anyways
Because there is no need to fire the amp up any more than 50%
With the right FX and EQ
