This is the 2008-2009 model with the top handles. The handles are a life saver for a 212. I would still recommend casters.

I don't know how good the speakers are compared to V30s, but I'll find out soon. An 8 ohlm mono input would be nice.

Sound Quality : 5
I play with an Ibanez RG2570Z Prestige or a Schecter Hellrasier FR, Mesa Roadster, Ibanez TS808, and an MXR KFK 10 Band EQ.

The cab is pretty good, but I think it would be borderline useless without the EQ. I have an Avatar 212 with V30s. The avatar is very clear, and in your face, but has no pick attack or bottom end punch. The G-Flex has amazing bass punch but harsh highs and sounds very "nasaly". The thing almost sounds like a honking car. It's sad because it literally costs more than 2x the Avatar.

The bonus to the Genz Benz is that it has a lot of recording sweet spots and records off a SM57 very much clearer than the Avatar. But standing infront of it, it sounds like crap.

I've put my rig through a Mesa 412 with V30's, a Marshall 1960a 412, and an Avatar 212 and never had such a problem.

I'm going to try putting Weber Beam Blockers on it, and if that doesn't work I will put V30's or something else in it as a last resort. If that doesn't fix it, I'm going to sell it.

Reliability : 9
Seems build very sturdy. Has a sturday metal grill. It's a 212 cab.. there's not much you can do to mess it up.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 6
I've been playing for about 8 years. I don't mess around when it comes to my gear. I'm not a nut that goes and buys something for $3000 because "I have to have it" or it's super collectable. But I will put the money into what is necessary to having a great sound, versatility, and playability.

I'll let you know how a speaker change helps it. Stock, I would say this thing is a pice of garabdge and to save $400 and buy an Avatar or get a used Mesa/Bogner for less.

Now I'm not praising Avatar or anything. I just think the V30s in it project and sounds 10x clearer and more present. The Genz sounds like it's in another room or put at the bottom of a tin can.

Overall I'd give it a 6 because of the great features and excellent recording quality. But like anything, all the bells and whistles in the world don't make up for the crappy sound this thing puts out. I bought this new in box for $400 off eBay. It was a steal as they are new for $679.

Everyone is raving about this 212 and if you know how to fix the nasally sound please contact me:

Recessed corner mounted handles, tube ported, a multitude of connection options, front loaded, and enough power handling to deal with "almost" every guitar head available. If there is a fault, it is the lack of factory casters. It's noticeably larger than most other 212's, but that isn't a bad thing. It still fits in the trunk of my car and I don't have to reach down as far to pick it up or adjust something on my amp.

Sound Quality : 8
Absolutely perfect for any type of loud, distorted, drop-tuned, rock/metal. Very punchy and full sounding, however the sound is more directional than with some other cabs. It still works well, but to a lesser extent with clean tones, almost like it cuts a little bit of presence as compared with some other 212's. I'll still take it over just about every 412 though.

I'm playing a Soldano Decatone through it and the combination is fantastic. I hardly ever use a squeaky clean tone and thus this cab works out perfectly for what I do (mostly riff driven hard rock).

Reliability : 10
It's seen quite a bit of action since I obtained it about a year ago and other than a couple of tolex nicks and dents, it's been perfect. I can not blow the speakers with my Soldano and yes I've tried.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've had no need to deal with Genz Benz.

Overall Rating : 9
I share practice space with a few guys and we're all constantly going through various pieces of gear. Thus far this cab has compared favorably to every other cab I've been able to directly compare it with and all but maybe one or two that I haven't been able to make a direct comparison with. I feel like it's an integral part of my sound and would replace it with another if it went missing.

My initial research led to either this or a THD 212, and comparing them side by side I preferred the G Flex. The G Flex has more low end punch and seems to really emphasize the low and mid frequencies as opposed to the THD which seemed to be very well rounded with more high end presence.

Read the Genz website for full details. I'll point out what I like:

Firstly, *I LOVE, ADORE, CHERISH* the top/corner mount carrying handles. OMFG, it makes this relatively heavy 2x12 *SO FIGGIN' EASY* to manuever it's just silly. Such a simple thing that no other manufacturer offers... brilliant, just love it.

Also, I like the ability to select Mono 4 ohm or Mono 16 ohms. This helps with flexibility (and to get a little extra headroom if you have a 4ohm capable amp).

Also has extension jack for daisy chaining... a simple enough feature, right? but I'm amazed that so many high-end cabs that don't have it.

Can also be split for stereo operation.

Sound Quality : 10
(Read comments below for rig I'm playing through):

I was stunned by the way this 2x12 sounded. I used to have a Marshall 1936 2x12 sitting around, and then I also built my own. Neither of them could EVEN come close to the Genz.

I have this sitting on top of one of my 4x12s and holy crap, this thing KILLS my modded 4x12. At this point, the 4x12 merely serves a support role... the Genz is what's generating the REAL tone.

Seriously... though it's a 2x12, it IS NOT a compromise. This 2x12 brought the sound to life... more definition, nuances, dynamics, and at the same time providing killer chunk tone. And when it comes to chunk, this one lonely 2x12 REALLY stands up to the 4x12.

So much so that I have another Genz 2x12 on order, b/c I think it's going to sound killer and SO much easier to manuever 2 2x12's than the dang 4x12's.

Better projection, too, than my 4x12's. I don't have to pace a room as much trying to find the sound "sweet spot" to stand in.

Reliability : No Opinion
Haven't had it too long, but it's built VERY well. I've built my own cabs and am an accomplished carpenter. Looking and feeling the construction here, there are no corners cut.

The back-plate even seems bolstered more than a previous poster wrote; my jack-plates aren't especially flimsy.

Customer Support : 10
I have gotten prompt responses to my queries, even directly from the CEO himself.

Overall Rating : 8
I've been playing almost 20 years.

My current setup include: ENGL Fireball head, some rack gear, 2 Marshall 4x12 MF cabs (each with 2 Eminence Man-O-Wars along side the stock Celestions). Previous setups to numerous to mention...

Keeping this short... I have really good guitars with a wide array of pickups.

I play metal, my style range usually spans Cannibal Corpse style chunk to more melodic technical stuff. I don't go for a super-scooped tone... I like a "wider", chunky, biting tone with cutting upper-mids.

This thing totally delivers. Genz has developed cabs that are ACTUALLY, TRULY different than others on the market... the whole design, from the porting, to the angled baffle... it's a great package.

I didn't give it a 10 b/c of the price... but when you look at what you end up getting, it is not that bad of a value.

This is an update on my previous review after just finishing a UK tour with it.

Sound Quality : 9
This cab is quite simply one of the best 2x12's on the market. I've been touring this with a Hughes and kettner trilogy head and it sounds superb. Its got great low end thats really helped by the porting and the mids just seem to flow out at any volume. It can be a bit trebley if you're amp head is a bit bright but other than that i really cant fault it. Its never had any problems keeping up with the other guitarists4x12 for volume or projection.

Reliability : No Opinion
No problems yet, its very well built and the good design makes it very portable.

I strongly recommend people to check this cab out, especially if you're after a massive sound but without the weight of lugging around a hefty 4x12 cab.

After buying a Cornford head i started looking round to upgrade my cab as i thought both the crate and mesa cabs were strangling the tone a bit. I tried out alot of different cabs but this one just sounded the best, its got huge natural projection and massive bass response. Dont be fooled by its size, comparing it to the mesa recto 412cab and the crate BV 412 cab (both with v30s) it skins them both for volume and projection. Its the sort of cab that really lets the natural tone of the amp come through, it wont be to everybodies taste but if you have a good amp head then this will reproduce the sound in the best possible way.

Reliability : 9
Its built very well although it would be better if the grill was slightly further back in the cab as i've dented mine twice already.

Spoken to geoff at genz before, hes a very helpful chap.

This thing has everything - it'll cover all of the possible speaker configurations of two 8 ohm speakers - very nice.

Sound Quality : 10
My setup: ESP Horizon NT-II -> Triaxis -> G-Major -> Boogie 2:90 -> Two G-Flex Cabs (One George Lynch signature and one not.)

Totally great. I would like it if it maybe projected more, but you'd be silly to expect the world from a 2x12. These cabs have a nice punchy sound and they really move the air in front of them. I dislike most 4x12 cabs because they sound choked or nasal. These cabs have a very open sound with a nice tight bass response and punchy midrange. Pure sonic bliss. I think that having two cabs helps round out the sound and they seem to work together to fill the room they're in.

Reliability : 6
So, there is really only one time that I was disappointed with these cabs. I have two, stacked one on top of each other, and my speaker cables are kind of short - only ten footers. One day - in band camp :-) - I had the clumsy misfortune of stepping on the speaker cable headed up to the top cabinet - and the input jack broke! When I took this apart I was shocked to find that the jack was made mostly of cheap plastic. Fixing it was a fairly minor ordeal - sent a few emails back and forth with their tech support team and for $3 each, I had some new jacks sent to me - although it took a few days and for that time period my cab was totally useless. The repair was also simple and only took a few minutes. Nevertheless, I don't understand why the jacks are so weak! I would suggest to everyone that has one (or more) of these cabinets to make sure that they always have a couple of extra jacks just in case this happens to you. I wanted to share my experience hoping that it might makes things easier for someone else sometime.

Other than that, these things are built to last.

Customer Support : 10
These guys were great and responded extremely quickly to my questions and parts order - mailed the next day via USPS priority and I had my jacks in two business days.

Overall Rating : 9
I have two of these, and I love them. I can't imagine plugging my rack into anything else. I am somewhat unhappy with the lack of strength in the input jacks, but I've never found a better sounding 2x12 (or 4x12 for that matter.)

Ported 212 cab with plenty of output options. Excellent build quality.

Sound Quality : 10
Excellent. After months of debating and comparing ( Mesa 212, Avatar 212, Randall 212 ) I bit the bullet. What a fuller sound. Before my sound had no balls now it does. My ESP Eclipse with Seymour Duncan Distortion sounds heavier than ever and my Frankenstrat also shakes the ground now. A little time spent EQing and that was it. It's also great to lug around something that is not that heavy. Very manageable.

Reliability : 8
I'm sure that will not be an issue. Built solid, just take care of it. Don't let anyone touch your stuff. Only had it a week, I'm sure it's solid. I gave it an 8 since it's too soon to tell.

Customer Support : 10
If I could give them a 20 I would. In my search for this cab I ran into difficulty locating one. I e mailed Genz Benz and to my surprise Mr. Genzler responded himself. I e mailed him back to let him know I finally got it and the dealer provided excellent service. To my surprise he called me and thanked me, the regular Joe. See my review for the B 52 AT212 combo where my e mails were ignored regarding an issue with the reverb. I returned it. I also e mailed Krank because they have no warranty info on their site, never responded.

Overall Rating : 10
Excellent. If stolen I would buy another. I compared it to Mesa Boogie 212, Avatar 212, Randall 212. Very versatile. I wish it had casters but no big deal.

I have over 60 guitars so I'd say I played it with every type of guitar !dual humbuckers single coils piezo etc.DEADLY quiet I play lot's of difdferent music but it SEEMS VERY flexable ,maybe it's name g-flex is a good description!I have PLENTY of full stacks but wanted a combe type setup, after buying the carvin 2x12 (also a nice speaker)I was unhappy with the OOMPH of the setup,I purchased this on a whim that it is a FULLER range cabinet and I'm GLAD I did!!This setup sounds just as good as a full stack but with much less space needed,It truelly does have the punch in the gut they say but it also has a nice mid and highs a VERY well rounder setup!

I WANT TO SAYIt has been hard to get the sound I want sometimes its thee and sometimes its not(make sense?) it is true you have to totally re eq everything for these cabs I am learning to take away not add eq and that has been the best help IF you are use to bass 10 mid 0 treb 10 it will be way to boomy . this cab produces its own bass in a sense so turn down the bass and you will be happier with the sound. ON another note I have not read anyone say anything about how crunchy these cabs are I mean I know I am using a peavy xxx but my xxx sounds alot smoother through the legacy 2x12

I won't go too in depth on the features as others have already covered that end. But I do enjoy the speaker setup being at different angles so when using just one you still get good stereo separation. The front ports throw a new element into the equation giving an absolutely huge sound at greater ranges. (25 feet away from the stage the audience begins to experience whiplash) But at the same time I can see this causing some headache when micing for recording. Also it should be noted that some sort of elevation (no more than 2.5 feet) would be helpful when playing on a low or no stage setting. (i.e. your practice room)

Sound Quality : 10
I recieved these cabs having never heard them before. (went soley on reviews from people I've never met before) I pluged them into my live rig which consists of a Digitech 2120 vgs, Mesa V-twin, Mesa 50/50, BBE 482i Sonic Maximizer, Alesis DEQ 230d, A Bradshaw Midi Switching System, an 85 American B.C. Rich Gunslinger w/ an EMG 89, and a 89 B.C. Rich ST-3 w/ EMG 85 and an SA. I was devastated by the amount of rich tube tone filled sounded that rolled out of these 2 little cabs. I had been using some old modded ADA cabs w/ clestions which didn't sound bad but they don't even compare with these things!!! I did have to do a good bit of re-eqing/ re-programming due to the bass-mid responce which is to be expected when getting new toys. These cabs added a new dimension to my sound with much more controlable mids than I had experienced even out of the Mesa Mk 4 cabs which are awesome in their own right. When I ran them out of my practice rig (just the 2120 and a Mesa 20/20) they still roared at much less power. I play Thrash and Death Metal mostly with lots of riffs, scale runs and crunchy rythyms but even when I play Jazz and Rock these cabs hang!!!!!!

Being that I've been playing for over 20 years I've experienced alot of gear, both good and bad. And they all seemed exciting at first. But I do have to give props to GB and G. Lynch for designed something that was on everyones mind forever but never being offered. The ports of the G-Flex are the key, giving it big sound like an open back but with much more projection, focus, and clarity. For those that didn't like them, it's thier opinion and we all have one as to what sounds cool. I know I think they're killer!!!!

WOWZERS!!!!!

Here's my story: I play in as 80s, 90s and modern rock band and I've had this one for almost a year now and I still cant believe it's only a 2x12 behind me! This thing can thump, and I'd put it up against any 2x12 or 4x12 on the market today and probably for the next 10 years - The only cabinet that comes close to it is a Boogie. I've played SEVERAL amps through it: Line 6 HD147, Line 6 Vetta, Peavey XXX, and currently a Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier - this cab can handle what ever you throw at it and sound amazing doing so. I did have 2 of them for a while, but needed to sell one to help get the rectifier, I do miss the look of the stack of the 2 cabs but on the other hand you really don't need 2 of them as good as the one sounds, so I just built a box and painted it black and I don't miss the stack now.

I should also say I play some country gigs every now and then and the boogie and this genz benz cab sound great together, almost "Twin-ish" with a bit more low end, since it's a closed back.

If I could, I'd give it about a 12 on the sound rating

Reliability : 10
Seems like it's built like a tank!! Our light guy uses it at most of the gigs to stand on and jump on to hang the lights and hasn't even scratched it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No need for it, don't really see what they can do?

Overall Rating : 10
Several amps, one cab---- whats that tell you? Since I know it sounds AMAZING with all the past amps, it tells me that I will have this cabinet forever! Perfect size to throw in your trunk or back seat, but still big enough to sound amazing and the bass ports are great and work great with a soundman too, you can still feel the bass on stage without overloading the bass to the soundman (using a mic). If I ever am in a situation where I need more sound on stage, you can bet I'll be getting another Genz Benz 2x12 cab!

The specs have already been gone through so i wont bore you. I would like to add that this sucker is fairly heavy but still easy to lug around due to the corner handles. I would like to see pop out jacs on these but i can do that after market for cheap so no biggie.

Sound Quality : 10
This is wierd, not bad just different. G-Flex's are ported, obviously, and throw the sound a lot better than any sealed 4x12 i have ever heard. Just as loud as any 4x12 at the same distances, the bass travels better too. The low end though, is a bit looser than a sealed 4x12, not flubby at all but a tad bit spongy. Also and it has a ton of midrange, cuts through quick. I love this you may not. Also, you wont get those super piercing highs, but you will get super clarity without them.

I use it with an Ibanez RGT-3020, a Crate BV-120H and a Crate BV 4x12 and as a reviewer below said, mixing this and a 16 ohm 4x12 will kick your ass, very cool. The bass envelops you and hits you like Rock Balboa at the same time.

It sounds badass by itself so i may sell off the 4x12 and buy a 2nd G-Flex. It sits in the mix very well, cuts through but dosent dominate, makes the whole band sound better!

Reliability : No Opinion
Ive had it for a few weeks so i wont comment. Looks very sturdy though.

I havent had to deal with them.

Overall Rating : 10
This thing is the cats ass, try one out sometime and you'll probably agree. In my 15 years of playing i havent found much gear that stays around long term, this one will because it does what i want a speaker cab to do. Make me loud, make me sound better than i would without it. Makes a Marshall 4x12 sound like a bad investment. Id buy a 2nd in a heartbeat, in fact i plan on it. Even at the full price these things are a great value.

Using 2 RG Ibanez Prestige customs....1 tuned to standard D, the other tuned to standard C#. Dimarzio Air Norton, and Steve's Specials for pickups. Here is where the difference can be determined by position....I actually read where a guy said it was important to get this cabinet off of the ground for it to sound good? I did so, and didn't like it as much? I like my cabinets on the ground....they resonate better to my ears that way. This makes a big difference....I also have a 4x12 Crate BV with Vintage 30's and I like that as well....They do sound different, but when I mix the 2 together is what I like the most! Crushing....

Do I like it...Yes! Why, well it has its own sound...that is why. Combined with my modded 5150....It sounds very nice. I like it on the ground though...More mids if it is raised. Some of you that have complained on this...that is all you need to do! For a 2X12 I can't complain...Pretty cool

Nice oversized 212, handles on top where they should be, runs mono with my b-52 stealth head, and stereo with my old line six combo. Has ports below the speakers, and a slightly angled baffle that points the speakers outward and upward a little, projection is great and the lows are thicker and tighter than anything else ive ever heard, honestly.

Sound Quality : No Opinion
I play a les paul classic, all stock, and a b-52 stealth series all tube head. DAMN there is a lot of thump in this rig. I wanted as much low end as possible and i think ive got it. Chords roar, but dont boom too much to hear the rest of the notes in the higher registers. Palm muting is simply devastating, literally shakes your clothes, you really feel it in your chest.

Reliability : No Opinion
too new to tell, but it feels damn solid. heavy but not too much to handle. those handles help too.

Following up on my "n/a" from November of 2001... it's now over two years later and the thing is still solid as a rock... I've played it with my amp cranked to the hilt in countless gigs, and the speakers just laugh back at me and ask, "Is that all you've got!?"... LOL... anyway it has also dealt the rigors of the road: lugged in and out of bars, standing it either sideways or on its feet... all jacks are still perfectly tight, tolex still in great shape... just a few scuffs on the metal corners from tons of abuse, that's it... I think I can now safely give it a rating of '10' here.

I bought this cab without hearing one E-bay) based on the other reviews on this site--huge mistake! I can't believe how shitty it sounds or that anyone else thought it sounded remotely good! There are no mids or highs--just an incredibly hollow/muddy tone. At first I thought maybe the 2 speakers were out of phase, so I tried each one separately...no dice. My Peavey 5150 cab utterly blows it away. Incidentally, it sounds equally bad with my Engl Powerball (godly) and 5150II, so it isn't the amp.

I've played for 20 years and this is one of the most disappointing pieces of equipment I have ever bought. Simply awful. Maybe something else is wrong, but I doubt it. GB ahs a great reputation and it must have passed QC, so I guess this is they way they wanted it to sound. If you mids/highs/clarity, look elsewhere.

I have a B.C. Rich Mockingbird Supreme and a Mesa dual rectofier triple channal amp. This cabinet sounds awesome. I play 80's hard rock, alittle blues and alittie southern rock. I mostly got it because I didn't want to have to lug a 4x12 around. I was going to get a mesa 2x12 recto cab but I've already owned one before and wanted to try somthing new. I really liked the recto cab. but this one is just as good, is a little lighter and has really cool beer keg style handles on the top so its much eiser to carry. The recto has one single handle on top that I was always afraid would break while carrying it because the cab is so heavy. Dimention wise the G-flex is alittle big for a 2x12 because of the ports on the bottom but not bad.

I've been playing 20+ years. I'm down to just this one amp and guitar because I don't play professionally any more. It is probablly the best 2x12 cab on the market. Goerge Lynch had nothing to do with my choice, I had just heard that these were incredable and they are. If you want a huge sound in a 2x12 buy this cab. It has no problem handling the power of my rectofier. If I still played live I would probablly get two. The recto is a great cab too though and would be my next choice.

I got my GB 212 used. It's the old style with the side handles.

The back has three jacks labeled "8-ohm left," "4-ohm mono (right)," and "mono extension jack." The only jack or combination of jacks that produced a decent sound with my equipment was the left/right pair. I don't understand why I couldn't get a decent sound with the "4-ohm mono."

Aside from the jack plate, the cabinet was built to outlast the pyramids of Egypt and, for whatever it's worth, it has a very pleasing appearance.

Sound Quality : 10
I use a Gibson ES-330TD with some classy, 1960's, Gibson chromed pickups that I haven't identified. For power I have a 1970's, 135-watt, Fender PA tube amp. I play old standards from the 40's and 50's and early blues (a la Big Bill Broozy).

The mid- and high frequencies are excellent, but I don't know if they are much better in the GB than in other good cabinets. However, the bass is not to be believed. No boom, no mush, nothing but the cleanest, clearest, fullest, most natural-sounding bass you've ever heard in your life. I had no idea my ES-330 could sound like it does with the GB. The cabinet sort of breathes out bass like a living thing; I don't know how else to describe it. No doubt the tuned ports are largely responsible.

Reliability : 9
As I say, it's built to outlast the pyramids except for the plastic plate supporting the jacks and the plastic nuts holding the jacks to the plate. One nut had already come loose and fallen off. Why all the plastic in an otherwise rugged cabinet?

This cab is a 2002 I believe. As far as cabinets go, it's fairly versatile. It's not switchable stereo, but it's got jacks to suit pretty much any use you can come up with and is labeled extremely well.

Sound Quality : 10
This cabinet is just plain SICK! I have never played through anything that sounded this good! I play a wide range of music anywhere from Slayer and Morbid Angel to Pat Green and the Refreshments.

My style is predominantly metal, hardcore, and hard rock. My setup currently consists of a few various mid-level guitars including a Schecter Scorpion Baritone with either Dimarzio Super Distortions or SD Invaders into a Marshall AVT150H with a BBE 482 S.M. in the effects loop. The sound of this cab hits you square in the chest when you crunch. It is unbelievable. What is even more amazing is that the clean sounds are super-punchy as well. I want to buy another one to run a godlike 4x12 setup with these cabs.

This cab handles the sparkling clean sound or jaw-crushing distortion at any volume. The ports allow for some rediculous bass response. I tuned my baritone down to low A and the clarity was amazing. I never thought a cabinet could make that much difference in my tone. I was wrong by a longshot.

Reliability : 9
This cab seems pretty solid. I don't plan on throwing it off the roof so I'm sure it'll hold up. Since I spend $440 on the thing I'm going to search for a cover very soon.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing guitar for about 18 years now and have tried just about everything under the sun. I can finally say that my setup is exactly how I want it thanks to this cab. If it were stolen or lost I would be inconsolable until it was replaced, and it WOULD be replaced! I compared this cab to the Marshall 1960A/B and a Randall 412CX (Celestion Equipped) and a Peavey 412MS. This cab just ruled them all for tone, clarity, and punch. I don't think I'd add anything to this cab. I would however definitely add one more of these cabs to my setup eventually, but I'd drown out the rest of the band mwahahahahaha!!

The only other thing I would add is that prior to owning this cab I never would have thought a cabinet could make that much difference in my tone. I'll never turn back now. This cabinet is the be all end all as far as I'm concerned.

Best sounding cab I've ever heard. Better than Mesa Rectifier cabs (2x12 and 4x12), Marshall cabs, and the Peavey 5150 4x12 I had before this. All sounds bass, mids, treble, sound great and are clear. Huge-sounding cab, bigger than other 4x12s. Amazing. Sounds great with distortion, clean, or anything in between. I use a Gibson Les Paul Studio.

I hurt my back lifting my 4x12 cab (Peavey 5150 straight cab) into my truck when going to band practice, so I decided to get a 2x12 instead. 60 lbs compared with 96 lbs. I used to own a Mesa 2x12 and the Genz Benz in my opinion sounds a lot better. Of course, having a Rivera Knucklehead 55 for an amplifier helps too. I am completely satisfied and my back is happier too.

- wired for stereo
- ported cabinet

Not many features as it is a cabinet. it does have recessed handles and generally good construction. weighs 60 lbs, not sure if that's reasonable but one could always use a lighter cabinet. overall, i give it a 9 just because it's not THE most feature filled cab. however, it does what it's supposed to.

Sound Quality : 10
i must tell you, i was a bit skeptical at first. friends of mine told me that this was a great cab. after trying it, i was impressed. the bass response is so tight and focused. no odd noises, just beautiful tone. i currently run an SG with dimarzio pickups through a POD pro, Lexicon MPX 500, and a peavy 260 power amp. i could not believe the difference in tone from other 4x12's i've had. i had a crate 4x12, with the crate speakers. it was not that great, but then again, i really did not pay that much. had a genz-benz 4x12, had serious problems with resonance. when i used high gain settings, with the bass turned up, i would get a horrible, for a lack of batter term, "farting" noise when ever i did palm muting with certain chords. this cab has never made a terrible sound, no matter how much the gain and bass is turned up. also, even jazz-like clean channels can benefit form this cab. in general the best damn cabinet that i've heard in a long time. it blows away 4x12's in terms of tone AND volume. highly reccomended.

Reliability : 10
seems well built, i anticipate no problems, so i would definately play without a backup. however, with the POD pro, i could always just plug directly into the sound board so the show could go on.

Customer Support : 8
previously, i had e-mailed genz-benz about the problems that i had had, and i recieved an e-mail from the owner of the company. he was as helpfuls as he could be, given the description that i gave him. however, the second time that i mailed, it took nearly two weeks before i got a reply. essentially they reffered me to the place that i purchased the cab. i was a bit annoyed that i could not get a straight reply to why the 4x12 made some terrible noises.

Overall Rating : 10
overall, i give it a 10. a great sounding cab. aside from the customer service, it's just amazing. try one and find out, i'm sure that you'll agree.

Features : 9
Made in 2001. The cabinet is made of "ratiata pine", (which is not advertised: I askde them... if I were them, I'd put that on the website along with a commetn on quality). Features custom TubeWorks 75W speakers, (ahem: TubeWorks IS GenzBenz: same company). Cabinet can be run in stereo (75W per side) or mono (150W).

Cabinet design is great: very tight, closed back, very deep (as deep as any other cabinet out there), adn also a bit taller than most, with a port beneath the speakers, intended to further enhance bass output. This apparently works, since these things really do push a lot of air.

Of course, there aren't many "features" to speak of in a cabinet, but I'd say this ranks right up there with the best of 'em: I can't think of much more that one could want...

I give a '9', but would give a '10' if speaker options were available... and I'd also like to know how "ratiata pine" stacks up (in theory) against "birch plywood" which most other high end cabinets are made of.

Sound Quality : 9
This cabinet really pushes the air: you get amazing natural compression, so it's great for hard rock. Let's face it: it's George Lynch's signature cabinet: so it's good for great 80's hard rock sort of use.

It is NOT noisy: with a head, it should be as quiet as anything else you care to use. Also, if you're running a combo amp with this in the 2nd speaker output, it will be just as quiet as whatever is in your combo. (Trust me: I hooked it into a Carr Slant 6V, which is an AMAZINGLY quiet amplifier, and it was STILL JUST AS QUIET with the G-flex hooked up... also still sounded GREAT... had the air from the open-backed Slant 6V, but added punch from the G-flex... quite the combo!)

Again, I can only give this a '9'... not because I wish to be nasty, but because I simply can't comprehend a '10' for sound quality in a cabinet... however, even though this is a '9'... trust me: it sounds absoluetly phenomenal, especialyl if you're looking at it for any kind of rock (hard rock, metal) application.

Reliability : No Opinion
N/A... I've only had it a short while. Sucker is built very solidly, though.

Customer Support : No Opinion
N/A... I've only heard good things about them. I emailed them to ask what wood is used in the cabinet, and they responded very quickly (next working day), which is great considering that wasn't even a "support" issue, but more of a ho-hum sorta question.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been at it over 13 years, and have played quite a bit of stuff, but mostly combo amps up 'til now, so this is my first 212 cabinet. I use a McInturff Sportster and am still lokoing for the perfect Strat... using a Carr Slant 6V combo, and am still seeking the perfect EL34 amp to run through this G-flex.

If stolen, I'd be pissed... cannot say as to whether I'd get the same thing or not, since this is the first 212 cab I've tried (other than a few in stores)... I'd be very tempted to try a DD, VHT, Bogner, or Jenkins cabinet... but who knows... that's just GAS. So far, this cabinet was the best thing available in my area, and in THAT sense, yes, I'd get the same thing again.

Love: the design, even the looks... Hate: nothing as of yet.

I compared to Mesa Recto cab and Marshall 1936 cab... the Marshall wasn't even close for tonal quality or "boom", but the Mesa was very nice... that was spendier, though, and just didn't look as "cool", nor did it have the ported design... (I'm still not sure how necessary the ported design is... but what the hey... it certainly doesn't detract from the tone, and it LOOKS cool... so... whatever...)

I wish we had speaker options... in fact, I may futz around with other speakers at some point... that's just a MAYBE, though. Despite the '9's above... overall value is definitely a '10'... it was a fair price for a GREAT cabinet.

Sound Quality : 9
I use this cab with a Mesa Boogie Tremoverb head, Fender Big Apple, American Double Fat Strats, and it really is a great match. The porting on the bottom of the cab really creates some serious low-end that stays pretty focused. There's a really nice midrange presence that's not "honky", but biting, very nice. The distortion from my amp is just huge through this cab, nice and tight, and the clean is also pretty darn good. It's heavy for a 2x12, but not as big and bulky as a 4x12 which I really like, but the main thing is that it sounds as big as any 4x12 I've every played through. Excellent.

Reliability : 9
I've only had it for 2 months, no problems yet.

I sent them an email asking some questions before I bought the cab and they got back to me in a few days, not bad.

This is a great cab for rock music, especially hard rock or metal. If you don't want the size and bulk of a 4x12, but want the type of sound that they produce then this is the cab for you. Veratile (mono or stereo), great low-end chunk, huge sound. I used to own a 4x12 Recto cab that sounded great, but was just too damn big for my needs. The G-Flex is just as good and is half the size and weight. If you looking for a cab (2x12 or 4x12) you should check out the G-Flex.

Initial opinion of the cabinet is fantastic. I bought it without first hearing it or playing thru it. I've been using an early 80's Carvin 4x12 cab with celestions,..this 2x12 is as strong as the 4x12 and sounds better! It has mega low end and nice even response for the upper registers without getting harsh even with high treble EQ settings. It was amazing to crank the resonance feature on my 5150 and have the cabinet respond.

Reliability : No Opinion
I've only had the cab for a few days. It seems to be put together very well. I baby my equipment so I doubt i'd have any problems. It's doesn't seem as beefy as my Carvin 4x12, but it's a heavy little sucker.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Comes with a 3 year transferable warranty,..only if you have the original sales slip. Seems to me that regardless of if you have the original sales slip, that you should get warranty service for the 3 year period starting when the cabinet was assembled. Genz Benz could track this date via the serial number no matter who owned the cab. Just my thoughts.

Overall Rating : 10
Overall I think this cab would be excellent for any style of music. Obviously it excels in the rock/metal/alternative/grunge/etc...yada yada yada category, after all it is a Lynch signature cab. but i'm sure that it would perform well at all levels. Can't wait to get one of the new Peavey Triple X's to push this new cab and see what it sounds like.

It Takes abit to get the sound you want,
For example... If you are running straight from a Head you can just Crank it up. If you are running through an EQ or FX
processor you need to keep an eye on the level of the Bass. Because the 212 is ported at the bottom, You get The BEST lows,
but you have to sacrifice Bass for Volume, when working with an EQ or FX. Just Check Levels When in use.

I hooked it up to a Marshal JCM2000 TSL super lead Head
and Ran against A Marshal 4x12 Cb,
It Blew it out of the water up 70% sound level
The Genz Benz Handled up 50% before Bass adjustments and then,
began to distort at 70%
The Marshal Handled up to 65% before bass adjustments and began to distort at 90%.
Even so The Sound quality was no where near close to the Genz Benz
The Bass and low-mids were perfect for Metal Grunge or Groove Core
Which is perfect for my needs
Besides the amp test was fine anyways
Because there is no need to fire the amp up any more than 50%

Four ports on the bottom makes this cab push" big time" air. This porting also makes the cab stand taller than other 2x12's. Playing metal or smooth clean passages are no problemo. Using a 87 HameChapperel w/emg's,Mesa MarkIII, and various rack effects. What lights this whole thing up is of course is a BBE 482 sonic maxamizer(best 200.00 I spent). The cab has so much bottom end that I had to reconfigure bass settings on the amp & BBE unit as well. Tone for day's...so just because I play more of a "metal" based sound does not mean that you sound shy away from this cabinet if your a bare bones clean player. You wont be disapointed !

My main axes are a ESP Kamikazi and a Hamer standard (explorer) both w/ duncan screamin demon PU's. I try to get a sound like the guitar on Stone Temple Pilots 1st album, also any Lynch Mob album. I run a Soldano SLO thru this cab, sounds almost as good a my marshall 4x12 w/25 watt greenbacks. Nice low end, no farts... just a wee bit harsher than the marshall, maybe because the speakers are 75 watters compared to the 25w greenbacks. I kinda wonder what this cab would sound like with lower wattage vintage speakers? But then again My Soldano SLO is 100 watts and probably cook those spkrs in a 2x12...not sure.
Overall, this is still the best 2x12 cab Ive ever heard.
