This amp is a one of a kind. I should know. I engineered the sheet metal for it as well as the screen artwork for the face. This was a fun project and in turn for my work, Harvey gave me the first one made! As far as I know it is the only one made with 4 10inch speakers. I love it!
You can turn up the volume all the way and it sounds great.

Sound Quality : 10
The sound is true vintage. Clean sound. It definately is not made for todays Metal heads but for it's purpose it is unbeatable. My son will run a metal pedal into it and turn it into a Metal Monster.

Reliability : 10
It truely is a tank. The bed liner type of coating makes for the most durable cabinet ever made! Great hardware. Even the knobs are the highest quality!

Customer Support : 10
Harvey is a great guy and was fun to work with.

Overall Rating : 10
If you are looking for that vintage sound, this amp cannot be beat. Speakers to match the year of the sound is a great bonus. I don't want to let it go but for the right price I would think about it. It's nearly impossible to find but if your serious you have possibly just found one to buy. Make me an offer!

I Finally found a Gerlitz..I personally know Harvey, family friends for a long time. I bought this amp and a test cabinet used for speaker comparison from another family friend of mine...Serial number 004!!!! The last amp wired by Erick. The blend option takes a little bit to get used to, but once you get the hang of it it's a breeze. This amp packs a punch, especially with the external cabinet. Blackface and Plexi tone in one package, what more could you ask for?

Sound Quality : 10
Blackface and Plexi in one, two of the most sought after amps ever. I play a custom built Les Paul, with seymour Duncans in it, the sound can go from a very warm and creamy sound, to a bity harsh tone. And thats just on one channel.

Reliability : 10
Built like tank, Harvey really knows how to make cabinets. Made cabinets for Matchless for their exotic woods line. Covered in a super durable material... feels just like truck bed spray in liner.. only complaint is about the rounded corners and edges on the cabinet, makes it hard to grip, could be better with a cover.

Customer Support : 10
Excellent!!!! I e-mailed Harvey, and later that day he replied, lightning fast. Very helpful, willing to do so much.

Overall Rating : 10
Excellent buy, I would definately recommend buying one if you EVER come across one, I almost made that mistake, but luckily I got over my stupidness:)

FINIALLY! I FOUND A GERLITZ!
I used a Gerlitz Revelator two years ago at a gig and set out to find one. Mine is a Revelator 50 watt head.
They no longer make these amps and no one in there right mind will park with them.
Screw the Dumble search! The Gerlitz is where you want to be.
Blackface and Plexi tone in one head.
I LOVE THIS AMP!

Sound Quality : 10
The tone of the Gerlitz Revelator is out of this world!
The Blackface is ultra warm and natural. Better than any Fender I have ever owned.
Loads of head room all the way up to "10" This amp can get LOUD!
The Plexi side is wonderful! Marshall tone to the bone!
With the rotating pedal you can dial in just the right feel for any style of music.
It's like have a Fender Twin and a Marshall Plexi Stack in one amp.
The tone of the Grelitz is off the hook. I can't say enough about it.
I have been playing for more than 30 years and have never heard anything like it.
Go to www.gerlitzamps.com for all the tech stuff.
If you are lucky enough to run across one of these amps, BUY IT at all cost!
The amp is 50 watts and can get really loud! But at the same time has the same tone at lower volumes, Outstanding!
I LOVE THIS AMP!

Reliability : 10
The Gerlitz are built to last.
No tolex or chessy covering!
There sprayed with LINE-X, you could hit it with a brick and it wouldn't hurt it.
I LOVE THIS AMP!

Customer Support : 10
Customer support is out of this world.
Email Harvey Gerlitz himself and he will call you.
Very nice guy!

Overall Rating : 10
Well gang!
Good luck finding a Gerlitz of your own.
This is the finist guitar amp ever made.
AND I HAVE ONE!
I LOVE THIS AMP!

Hello! I do not own a Gerlitz amp, Why? I can't find one!!!

Sound Quality : 10
I have been using a Gerlitz 2x12 combo at a studio gig that's pretty regular. This amp does anthing you want it to do at any volume. I have a room of vintage amps at home, 1965 Fender Super Reverb, Matchless, Bogner Shiva and a wall of others. I have tried to buy this amp from the owner offering him $3000.00 or any of the amps I have. He won't sell! This is by far the most incredible amp I have ever used. I called Harvey Gerlitz and ask him to just build one more amp...He thanked me and said sorry, I'm done. The only word I can use to describe the tone of this amp is "Intoxicating". Better than the best Fender Black Face and better than any Marshall Plexi, all in one box!

Reliability : 10
This amp is built like a tank!

Customer Support : 10
Harvey Gerlitz is a very nice guy. He will talk to you and help in any way he can "BUT HE WON'T BUILD JUST ONE MORE" Only kidding Harvey.

Overall Rating : 10
Well..I would love to be giving a review on my own Gerlitz! If you have one you would like to part with, email me...PLEASE.

First of all I want to say I feel very fortunate to have found one of this amp......If you run across one "BUY IT"!!! Having said that, I look at HarmonyCentral reviews kind of like Penthouse Forum......You know, a bunch a talk about gear you really don't have and gigs you've never played. But over the years it has been helpful. I have been playing for more than 30 years and have gone through tons of gear, and yes (Penthouse Forum) I have a wall of vintage and new high $$$$ gear! I came across the Gerliz Revelator in a very rare 2x12 combo at the Guitar Factory in Winter Park Florida. I plugged into this gem and was floored!! The amp is nothing less than amazing. I immediately got on the phone and called Harvey, the builder of the amp in OR. We talked for and hour or so about his company and this wonderful amp. I was very sad to hear that the company had to fold......The amps are just too expensive to build! Like I said "I feel very Luck to have found one".

Sound Quality : 10
I didn't think I would ever give an amp a "10" rating, there is always something I would change about them. This amp is a perfect 10...It is perfect!! The tone of the amp is amazing...the Blackface tone is better than any Fender amp I own or have ever owned...As I told Harvey, the Gerlitz smoked my prize 1963 Fender Vibroverb. The Plexi tone is equally as impressive...Marshall tone to the bone! All in one amp. Amazing! Fender rich warm and bluesy to Marshall Plexi heaven. Two amps in one each with it's own reverb....Any and every guitar I have pludded in sings.

Reliability : 10
The amp is built like a tank!! Havey said not one of the amps sold has ever had a problem.........Do I believe him? YES!!

Customer Support : 10
Awesome..........His guy loves to talk amps. Give him a call.

Overall Rating : 10
10.........I wish there were a higher rating! These amps are going to go down in history as one of the best ever made.

Gerlitz Revelator head with matching 2X12 cab. I am soooooo fortunate to have finally gotten one, number 44! Owned for almost 2 years now. Where to start. wwwDOTgerlitzampsDOTcom is a good place to look for features. The amp is basically 2 complete vintagesque tube amps (plexi and blackface) each with their own tube driven spring reverb pans (short and long respectively) and line level TUBE output sections for authentic feel, dynamic response, and saturation. Then the fun begins...those 2 seperate line levels can be infinately blended (without the normal treble losses from ernie ball stereo pedals since we are talking post-power section) and run through a stereo effects loop. The amp ends with a super clean 200W solid state power amp....really clean! THE FEATUERis the blend feature. A foot pedal that pivots circular that blends (post power section) the 2 channels. If you can't imagine how wildly useful and musical this is please go away! Imagine, for just a moment, that your fender could have the smallest taste of fully cranked plexi to add warmth, mids and sustain, without compromising either tone and slowly transitate (i made that up)to all out Plexi goodness! Eh?!??!?! Yes, it is awesome!!!

Sound Quality : 10
Currently using a Taylor T5 after selling a PRS Custom Soapbar and Hollowbody I. Can't imagine a better end to my lifelong guitar amp search. Sad but true! Had more expensive amps (Class A, real Blackface..the ones that smell funny after playing them hard, and some other boutiquey things) and this amp covers an immense range well past what any other amp maker could even imagine. The Sparkle switch has a very convincing chime! I know it is fairly nauseating to hear "the EQ really works" but there isn't a better description of the functionality of this EQ. I am never intimidated to turn the bass up down wherever (per the rooms needs) b/c I know the Gerlitz will respond perfectly and is useful across the whole spin from 1 to 10. Blackface side can be very bright, driven, and edgy and easily go to smooth, scooped, and rich . All sounds are defined and articulate which has always been my search. Full, rockin bass, and still hear the notes you are playing on the E & A! Plexi side has 2 gain knobs to simulate the old nonmaster plexis jumped between bright and normal inserts. The bright gain knob is the typical edgier distortion where the normal gain is very thick and rounded over. Distortion sounds sooooo musical, from just amp breakup to preamp push and gain!! Think Derek Truck....really!!! More tone than my hands know what to do with. Reverb is really sweet and fits the channels just right!

Reliability : 10
I have depended on it! I do depend on it! I only own one...besides I wouldn't really care about finishing a gig if it spontaneously exploded! The tubes are all placed in their duties with the intentions of seeing only the specs they are designed for, and since they are all preamp tubes I am expecting several years between swapping. The amp is covered in truckbed spray liner! Finally, load it into my truck with the rack and cabs and it damages the other equip. finishes instead of the other way around! It rode for almost 400 miles against cheap casters on my mixer case and not even a scratch (i knew it would be fine before loading that way). Little heavy but theres a lot o stuff under the hood...it's lighter than a twin and plexi head and sounds better with absolute silent operation!

Customer Support : 10
I have spoken to Harvey a dozen times or so. Almost every one of those being 1hr calls BEFORE I even bought one of his amps. He is just too nice to be sitting on this kind of magic. It is truly reassuring knowing the person that built your amp is completely interested in you liking/using it for a lifetime! Superb response time.

Overall Rating : 10
Sorry for giving all 10s. I hope the reviews justify the grade. When you find your thing you've found it. This amp is it for me. It has all the vintage tones, modern functionality, and note definition. Records great without gates or compression. Really a tone monster. I don't play with gobs of distortion but this amp gives me a 100 pedal deep palate of rich, overdriven tones to fit all situations I play!! When I want to dime it out it just kicks right back! If real, vocal tone is your thing and an immense soundscape to mold live then find one of these and buy it immediately.

I have owned the Revelator for 5-6 years and it is very versatile. Blackface w/ sparkle switch ( think Matchless) & a plexi side as well w/ 2 accutronic reverb tanks ( short and long ) AND a blend pedal to go into the 'tweener area & fat switch. I know what you're thinking...an amp that blends, ho -hum but you're wrong! It is a revolutionary idea that has never been done to this capacity before or since. It takes tube pre and post, sends it to a line level and goes to a linear power section. They have a website that fully explains everything but you really have to play one, no bull. I play with thumbpick and fingers, and I needed an amp that was versatile. This one does EVERYTHING except death metal, but if you played that you wouldn't know about tone anyway so don't read any further.

Sound Quality : 10
I used to own acouple of Parkers but they are way too sterile sounding ( versatile as all get out, but sterile). I now play strats and teles. I've done many sessions with hollowbodies, les pauls, frankenteles with p90's, lap steel & resophonics....This amp does it all very well. If you want a blackface 65 bassman it's there. If you want crunchy articulate grit or a searing hendrixy type thing the Marshall side has it covered. This amp is soooo f*** loud if need be but with the design you can get every sound you want at the lowest possible levels ( you could talk over it if need be). It has sooo much clarity and sustain, it's like hi-def. Honestly I use a boost in the front only for volume to push the original signal on either side and round it out a hair but it sounds fantastic straight up. On the blackface side I have the gain @ 12 o clock ( barely breaking up) so when you use a volume pedal it will clean up when you back off a tad. Honestly the Marshall side is the toughest side to master but it is the most rewarding. I finally figured it out after 6 months of gigging regularly the flexibility it has ( I prefer normal side 12 o clock and bright side @ 1-2 o clock). If I could give a 20 for this section I would! When you have the clean sound you like and you blend in just a little dirt, then you actually blend gradually till you're dripping some fat sustaining notes out of the plexi side, you acheive something I like to coin "auditory zen".

Reliability : 10
I played with it when I was on the road for 150+ nights a year. It went down one time after 350+ gigs and that was a fluke thing with a pin lifting on one of the tubes. I spoke with the guys and they took care of it free of charge. Not a problem since. It is sprayed w/ truck bed liner and tough as a tank. You could rob a bank with it. It is the only amp I own and am interested in having PERIOD. I had old Bandmasters, Marshalls...played Vox, Matchless, Bogner, Budda, Carr, all the boutique stuff...they are nice but nothing touches on the flexibility. The way it throws is very solid....no dead spaces on stage, very full. Harvey Gerlitz designed the cabinets for Matchless for their exotic wood series, so I don't think you'll find many people that would take the effort or have the skill to build something so solid, unique and inspiring.

Customer Support : 10
Harvey is the nicest guy you'll ever meet in this business. It is a shame more people don't know about this amp but for those who do know what they have. He has taken care of any question I've ever had. He sent me a new leather handle because he thought that the one on the amp MIGHT come unstitched at some point so free of charge he sent me another one without me asking for it. They are great to work with, and it's a Mom & Pop gig, just Harvey & Darryl bulding these with a design from Erick- a tech consultant for Lucent technologies. Any issue you have they'll make it right, but I doubt you'd ever have to take them up on it. Solid craftsmanship all the way!

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for 18 years and this is the best. I stopped looking for amps 5 years ago. If I had one gripe, it is a little heavy, but with basically having two amps in one and all the versatitlity- it is definately worth it. I think those who have played this amp would agree.

The best of all possible worlds--Fender Black Face Deluxe Reverb for "clean" and marshall 50W Plexi for "everything else." Excellent, easy-to-understand front panel; effects loop in rear. One amp that does a lot of things superbly. And you can carry it!

Sound Quality : 10
I use a number of different guitars--Telecaster, Turner Model T, even a 1959 Martin D-18E (love those vintage DeArmonds). This amp does clean, crunchy, girty and screaming at any volume. Can't say enough good.

Reliability : 10
Built to last. Like a tank. Beautiful job. Truth told I haven't owned it that long, but I can't imagine a problem.

Customer Support : 10
Harvey is just what you want in an amp guru--passion, talent, patience and enjoys talking about what the amp, circuits, speaker, etc. should and can do. Very accessible.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing a long time. Other amps include a black face twin reverb, magntaone 460 clone, Premier twin-8, etc. My Gerlitz has moved to the head of the class. iT is just what the doctor ordered. It can hang with the big boys and play sweet down low (volume, that is)

Built 2003. Versatile: I play blues, rock, country, roots, jazz. it has all the features listed except tremolo. Plenty of power for any setting. But the great thing is it sounds fantastic a LOW volume; ie at smalls clubs and parties and so forth.

Sound Quality : 10
I play a PRS and a 60s SG with P-90s. It suits me perfectly. It's quiet even turned up. Very versatile sounds; vox/fender clean, to Marshall overdriven. Clean clean even real loud. Distortion is the classic type, not the metal type.

Reliability : 10
Utterly reliable so far. You can see when you open it that it's quality throughout. No cheese!

I Finally bought a Gerlitz amp. I've spent the last year or so (20 years really) looking, listening, waiting, searching for... the sound! This is the only amp that has answered my laundry list of "amp issues." The main issue for me was first and foremost: tone. I was very close to buying an AC-30 which has a great tone. But the Gerlitz amp is so much more versatile in the tone department. It's really two amps in one. The "clean" tone is (to my ear) the best of the Fender Blackface plus the best of the Vox put together. The dirty side is Marshall, more or less. And you can pan between the two, which gives you a practically infinite combination of variations of the two sides. One of the best things is that you can get the nice warm, full sound you get when you crank a Fender, Vox, or Marshall, but you can get it at any volume, even very low. It doesn't thin out, wimp out, when you turn it down. Any amp can sound pretty good cranked up. But this one does it loud or soft. Amazing! Another problem I've always had is I like to roll the volume back to about 7 or so on my guitar and then open it up when it's time to solo. That way I don't HAVE to have a stomp box or a volume pedal or something to get the desired effect. The trouble is, when I do that (roll off the guitar volume) I lose some of the fidelity. The tone is damped, or some such thing (it's not the guitar either, it's a PRS). I don't know what's going on technically, I only know that I don't like it! This doesn't happen with the Gerlitz. It sounds just as good with my guitar rolled off. When I open it up, the sound just jumps out. And finally, I like to play in stereo with a little delay separation. It makes for a bigger, fuller sound. Well, then I have to have two amps, right? With the Gerlitz, all I need is another cabinet. The effects loop, and the speaker output jacks are designed in such a way that you just add an extension cab and voila! Stereo! It has other features too, which I don't really use, like the ability to bridge the two amps for more power. Anyway, it's the top if you ask me; Napolean brandy, Mahatma Ghandi and all that! Oh yeah, I almost forgot, they look really cool too, and the construction is impecable. They are solid, bulletproof. There is one thing they lack which I wish they had: tremolo. I don't use it often, but it's a cool effect when appropriate. Oh well, can't have everything. 99.9% of everything ain't bad though.

this a one twelve tube combo.my amp was built in '99 and modified in july of 2000( they refined the Plexi circuit).Amp has two channels a "Blackface" Fender and a "Plexi" Marshall.Stereo output and stereo effects loop. Each channel has it's own reverb. There is a "Fat" switch which adds lows and highs(it's like a loudness button on car stereo)with good clarity at any volume. The "Sparkle" switch adds upper midrange to the Blackface-nice for chords.Blend knob and footpedal allow you to blend the two channels in any ratio. This is the only feature i very rarely use.Bass treble midrange and Presence controls for each channel.Once you set the volume and gain levels for each channel there is a seperate knob for overall volume. This volume control has no effect on the tone or the amount of distortion present in the sound you hear.So i can rock hard in my bedroom at midnite(low volume) or play auditoriums and clubs at high volumes.

Sound Quality : 10
i mainly use a hamer strat with a RMC3 wah.Playing classic rock and country.Except for the single coil noise this amp is very quiet. You can get clean on both channels at any volume. But you have to get in there and tweak it.You can set everything at 10 and then back off the guitar volume to clean up.The only thing i don't like is the blend control it's a little awkward to use.Otherwise this amp always inspires....once you start you don't wanna stop!!

Reliability : 10
No problems. i play it every day .Have replaced the power tubes.

No problems. Always prompt in returnig phone calls and answering questions

i've been playing for 30yrs. owned Marshall and Fender both amps were fine. Now i've got the best of both in one box.Check out their website(www.gerlitzamps.com)What do i love about it ....the consistency and quality of the tone. What do i hate...it's heavy. I wish they could make a feather lite version.
