The Giannini Duovox 100G is a brazilian all tube 100 Watt point-to-point wired amp class A/B based on Fender amps, produced on the 70's.
It features 2 channel with high and low inputs and bright switch for both channels. Channel 1 features Volume, Bass and Treble controls. Channel 2 features Volume, Bass, Treble, Vibrato's Speed and Depth Saturation and Master Volume.
It's a very well done amp based on the Fender Twin Reverb, but the funny thing is that it misses the Reverb, but features the master Volume instead.
This is my main amp I use it to record, giging and sometimes for rehearsing with my rock n'roll band.
It has a plenty of power, bloody loud and extremely powerfull amp. It has 4 6L6 tubes on the power amp 4 12ax7 and 1 12at7. You can't hardly pass 3 or 4 on the volume even if you have John Bonham as your drummer.
It was originaly a 2x12" Combo I transformed it into a head, and I use the original 12" Novik WXNSS Speakers (very good vintage speakers based on the Celestion Vintage 30).
I will give a 5 for the features coz it's a very simple amp, it features only overdrive, vibrato and master volume of "extra" things, what fits my needs perfectly.
Sound Quality
:
10
Well the sound quality is where it shines!!!
I use with this amp mainly a Epiphone SG G400 that I customized with Gibson's 498T pick up on the bridge and Gibson 490R on the neck, Gibson vintage tuners, Gotoh bridge and a Graphtech Tusq nut. This guitar sounds amazing even compared to top Gibsons.
I play 70's rock n'roll , like Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Grand Funk Railroad, Jimi Hendrix, etc; this amp fits perfectly to my needs, the tone is fantastic, and it is very quiet amp, not noise at all.
I use only classic stomp boxes, my rig is:
Fender PT-100 Tuner
MXR DynaComp Compressor
Dunlop JH-1 Jimi Hendrix Wah Wah
Ibanez TS-9 Tubescreamer
ProCo RAT 2
Electro-harmonix Small Clone Chorus
MXR Phase 90
Boss DD-3
My favorite guitar player is Jimmy Page I can get close to Page's sound with my equipment what makes me very happy.
The overdrive of this amp can be activated via footswitch , and it's a light overdrive, very natural, but makes the volume get higher while is on. It sounds like the Tubescreamer. When the amp overdrive is combined with the TS-9 it makes the best overdrive I ever heard, sounds like a Orange amp at full power.
Reliability
:
6
Well this amp is 33 years old and still works perfectly. But on my gigs I always take my HH IC-100S witch is 30 years old too, but it's a transistor amp and 100% realiable.
The Duovox let me down a couple of times, but as almost all tube amps it seems to have it's own life and sometimes it is in a bad mood hahahahah. So it will get a 6
Customer Support

No Opinion
The Giannini company is very traditional here in Brazil, but they don't make this amps anymore, it would be very expensive nowadays , coz it's all tube, 100W, point-to-point wired and hand made.
I always repair my guitars and amps, when there is something more complicated I take it to a technician.
I wrote a message through the Giannini website and they answer very politly, but I never needed the authorized service.
This amp was my father's amp, and it's 33 years old, I am 30 years old, the warranty is 32 years expired hahahahahah.
Hope this review could help someone.
Overall Rating
:
9
Well the overall rating of this amp is positively high.
I've been playing for about 10 years, as I told up there I have another amp wich is a 70's HH IC-100S head , very clean sound amp, 100W, point-to-point too and also very loud.
If it were stolen or lost I will sit and cry coz it is very hard to find a amp like mine, it's 33 years old and looks new.
What I realy love about this amp it's the sound and tone. What I hate is that the volume gets very high when you activate the overdrive, it gets very hot, and sometimes it lets me down.
I'd compare this amp to the original 65' Fender Twin Reverb.
Well I love this amp.
