My Falcon was made in 62 it has five knobs (volume"loudness",tone, reverb, debth, and frequency.)
IT has a foot swith with tremolo and reverb.
its a cool amp for me cause i love the simple tube amps.
but if you love the complicated do a million things amp.
dont buy it.

Sound Quality : 8
I play mellow punk with a japanese stat that has rio grande pickups.
Which is noiseless until you turn on reverb. It doesnt get distorted
when turned up.its not that much variety with sounds just clean, reverb, and tremolo. But reverb sucks cause it makes a buzzy
sound.

Reliability : 10
The only thing thats been replaced is fuses.
SERIOUSLY!

This 1962-64 combo amp has nice 12 to 15 watt single channel; two input for guitar and one for mic; controls volume, tone, reverb, depth, and speed; single 12" speaker; original footpedal included :) tubes are three 6EU7, one 7199, two 6V6GT, one 5Y3GT, monitor output plug. It is about 19" wide which provide alot of room for the amp tech to work on. Also, the speaker was upgraded to a weber speaker. It has a nice tube wall of sound coming out of the amp and with reverb and tremolo, it has a slight leslie rotar type tone, it only took me 10 minutes of playing to make a decision. I am currently using guitars that are thinline or hollowbodies for a jazz blues tone. The only item missing is a standby switch to warm up the amp and to use on breaks, in order for the tubes extend the life of the tubes.

Sound Quality : 7
The main guitar are thinline and hollowbodies with P-90's, humbuckers, and a johnny smith floating pick-up. This amp is perfect, for lessons and playing in the garage. The amp has enuff tone that you do not need any effect box saving you money on batteries and toe tapping lessons. It is a very quiet amp, and this would help me to improve my playing and this tube amp is a joy to practice with.

Reliability : No Opinion
I can depend on this amp cuz, it was built in 1962-64 and it is still running on two 6V6GT power tubes. This amp is used and it shows it's age. But this amp is larger than a princeton reverb housed in a wood cabinet for added tone. With four pre-amp tube shaking two power tubes and a tube rectifier, you can check your amp by just looking at the glow of the tubes and when the noise start, it's time for a cap job. The wiring in this amp is old fashion and no pc board.

Customer Support : 7
I was able to download the schematics using a basic search engine, and this is the basic starting point. Again, if the resister or filter capacitors differ, it could have been due to a prior repair or the amp was build on a monday and the wrong part got solder on the right place. I am able to find at least three amp techs in the san francisco bay area for tubes

Overall Rating : 7
I have been playing for 8 years, and i collect tube amps. I like this amp for it's point to point wiring. I upgraded the speaker to weber cuz it needed a better speaker. I believe that this amp could be improve on it's gain by changing the fixed resister value gain of 5 and increase it to an 8. Remember it only has one tone pot and all the other adjustments are fixed at the factory or go to a good amp tech. I am also planning on upgrading the transformers in order to deliver an estimated 18 watts. It is my humble opinion that enuff research has done to improve old amps. Finally, my rating of seven is due to the fact that old fenders, old marshalls, mesa boogies dumbles, vox, orange, laney, kendricks, matchless, and the rest are tens and this Gibson Falcon GA19RVT has it's own tone for jazz/blues combine with my modified P-90's thinline to give me my own "Wall of Sound"

'65, I think. I can't seem to find definitive decoding. I play grunge (i.e. Seatlle bands) and seem to haves some blues in me. This is daddy's amp, so i'm careful with it. Perhaps more so than if it were mine. See, my dad has '65 SG (he got the SG and Falcon in '65 new for $500!) but he never really got into it. EVERYTHING IS ORIGINAL AND IT STILL SOUNDS GREAT! It's got cool tremolo and nice reverb. It only has a knob for tone, but I'm playing a Les Paul so I can find the tone I want, generally. I'd like to find one of my owm. As far as features, It has tremolo. Two inputs, a monotor jack, and I love the way it says "loudness" on the volume knob. I believe it is a 15 watt. By today's standards it kind of sucks feature wise. But it shouldn't be held to those standards. Oh yeah, it has a footpedal, tremolo and reverb.

Sound Quality : 8
As I said, I'm playing a Paul throgh it. I can hear some loud humming noise upon hitting the reverb switch. I'm not sure what this is from. Don't think it's the tubes. I think it's "super reverb" or something as you ccan get good reverb without this on. For instance, I never use that reverb, especially not at night. Other than that, It's a quiet amp. Authentic vintage tone. Must be heard. I had trouble getting over drums or most anything else, but it has sufficient power for just jammin'.

Reliability : 9
Never had problems with it in the last three years I was using it. Due to its originality I try not to use it. That and I just bought a Marshall. I can't, however, get the same tone from the Marshall

Customer Support : 1
At least the people I've talked to, at Gibson they don't seem to know it exists.

Overall Rating : 9
5 years playing, four of them on this amp. If stolen or lost I might be put to death, but I would get another if I could find it. This amp definitely has it's own look and probably does not appeal to everyone. I can apprecciate it's styling given the time period. Bottom line: this particular Falcon is a vintage beauty and is priceless to me.

This tube amp has a big personality, especially with harp players. I just got it and agree that it's not "pretty" but it's not ugly. Plus because it's a Gibson not a Fender, the price is real real low - I have found references to these amps from 62 to 65 so far, and am looking for more info. It got a lot of attention at the Toronto Guitar Show where I bought it, but not till it was hauled out and attached to a Les Paul. So far, I am very happy with it, although I hear that it can have a little trouble making enough noise to fit in on stage (suggested mic-ing it). Paid $210 US and well worth it.
My big question right now is "can a headphone jack be added?"

Sound Quality : 10
The switches produce some "real" effects which is more than I can say for reverb on some solid state amps. So far the sound is very clean but I've not climbed up to 10. Tomorrow?

Reliability : No Opinion
too early to say, but it's still going along 25 or so years later

Customer Support : No Opinion
don't know - have contacted Gibson for more info

Overall Rating : 8
It's early to say but everyone who has tried it so far (Les Paul, Peavey Strat, harmonicas) has loved the sound quality and how responsive the reverb and vibrato are. So far I love it, but it's only been 8 hours.

2 inputs. bass/treble tone control (1 knob), volume, reverb, tremolo (frequency, depth). footswitch for tremolo and reverb. ~15-20 watts. Tubes. monitor output. Fuse on faceplate (not a good sign).the one thing I don't like is the fact that there is only one knob for tone. Seperate active (ie -boost) bass and treble knobs would have really helped sell this amp despite its industrial/repair shop look. Butt-ugly brown tolex, silver faceplate, brownish/silvery/gold/orange grill cloth. Amazingly ugly. the handle is also a stylish chrome metal strap surrounded by plexiglass with another piece of tolex inside. Where's my barf-bag?

Sound Quality : 10
Another blues-rock amp. Just the right amount of smooth distortion at low volumes, then some nice fat distortion when you crank it up to 10. One neat feature is the reverb knob acts as a seperate volume knob. You can have the volume on zero, crank up the reverb knob and get all reverb. And what a sweet reverb sound it gives It's tied with ampeg for the best reverb. The tremelo is really controllable and sounds really nice, although I don't use it as much as I wish. Has a jensen 12" c12r speaker. nice. Again, my biggest complaint is the lack of seperate treble bass knobs. Treble boost would help a lot. It uses 2 6V6GT power tubes. Sounds best with a guitar that puts out a strong signal: gibsons (hey, what a coincedence, eh?). My SG with soapbars doesn't really blast this thing. You'd need another gain stage for best results, although I bet that Jensen would die really soon.

Reliability : No Opinion
Haven't owned it long enough, but have known other gibson amps and most are very reliable. not as much voltage on the tubes as fenders, so things should last longer.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
Nice amp to play. hide in closet when others come over to play, as it looks so ugly. not funkyugly or fugly, just ugly. Weird ugly. Spray paint entire amp black, rip off gibson logo and put on mesa-boogie or marshall and hide it in the corner.
