Richard Goodsell EL34 amp, mine is the Labrador 50,a 2x12 combo with Celestion Golds in it. I bought it recently (februari '09). I am a working musician for 20years and play all styles. My favourite style being Hendrix,Jeff Beck, but also funkadeers like Nile Rodgers inspire me. The amp is easy to understand, tone section (bass, mid, treble),gain and volume, reverb controll, low and high input. No effect loop or headphone jack on this baby, this is the real stuff!! The amp has 50 watt which is enough for any stage,club,studio... A great feature is the included switch that adds 20dg of gain while bypassing the eq.

I use mainly single coil guitars,E.J strat,Hohner The Prince Tele,P90 les Paul,'67 Goldtop Deluxe. This amp takes them all!!
With the strat I can get the fat Hendrix tone easily (Little Wing,Wind cries Mary, etc.),I even sold my Marshall'68 Super Bass 100 cause the Black Dog overrules it. The gain at 9 o'clock and there's your favourite clean plexi tones.Add some reverb and you have a fat old Twin Reverb! Turn the gain up to 12 o'clock and you now have a raunchy JCM800,no more need for overdrive/distortion pedals to play some rock rythm, kick in the +20db gain switch and your solo will cut through no worries! From 12 o'clock on turning the gain up leads you into Dual Rectifier territory, only with a string definition never heard before on a Boogie. Tweaking a little with the eq can turn your big fat fender-clean into a spanking funkmachine,or your growling 70's distortion into a mid-scooped metalsound. Very versatile!! I do a lot of session-work and believe me,it is ALL there,Fender,Marshall,Vox,Boogie...
This amp has set me free from that heavy-weight Marshall plexi that I carried around for 15 years,I always thought it was irreplacable but now I have the Black Dog that weighs a lot less and sounds even fatter!! Thanks Richard for the superb tone I get on it!!

I also own a Goodsell 33Custom since beginning last year and have been gigging and doing sessions with it,let's say the amp is on at least 6,7 hours every day,and it never ever failed once. I changed the power tubes once,I do recommend to ask Richard to send you new tubes,he matches them and they sound awsome. The cabs the Goodsell come in are very well built, the right woods used, well constructed, not too heavy weighing, and so beautifull to look at!

If ever a question occurs about your Goodsell, never hesitate to phone Richard. He will treat you with the same care as he would treat Bill Gibbons or any other guitar-hero. If something goes wrong (never happened to me) he will solve your problem himself. No waiting on the phone till some uninspired tech half answers your questions, the builder himself at the phone.

I've been playing for 30years now and owned about every amp of the vintage collection from Fender,Marshall,Hiwatt,Vox. My favourite amp was always the Super 100 Marshall plexi.I also had Bogners and Boogies. Nothing compares to the tone and simplicity to work with of the Black Dog. If it was stolen I would buy a new one, then look for the thief and... I am already looking forward to the 100watt version of the Black Dog. This is the best amp I've ever had!!
