Manufactured 3/07 #276. I do oldies, motown, classic rock, and blues. This is a one channel amp operating in Class A mode. My unit has reverb, but no footswitch, and no effects loop. 17 watts of EL84 sweet power, Class "A" thru 2X10 in Eminence speakers. Rev,Gain,Tone, and Volume controls.

This amp can go from clean to mean with the manipulation of the guitar's volume control. I use single coils mostly, and this amp has a wonderful 3D clean sound, and with a little gain dialed in this amp crunches up very nicely when you turn up the guitar, and or get aggressive with your picking attack(very nice). Very dynamic amplifier, and dead quiet in it's operation.

After reading about everyone that have had the amp for some time, I don't think reliablity is an issue here. I've had mine on about half a dozen gigs so far, and havn't had a prob. Mr. Goodsell sent me a complete set of tubes for backup, just in case. I usually bring a back-up, and I do this with any amp. I carry a CratePB as a spare to every gig.

I spoke with Richard Goodsell on the phone a few times about the amp and my needs, and he was very informative and helpful. He answered my e-mails in a timely fashion, and was a delite to work with. His amps come with a 1 year warr., and I have no doubt that he will stand behind his work with no questions asked. He hand builds and does all of the wiring himself, and then burns them in before he ships. I bought directly from him with a CC. Great company, and great product.

I've been playing for 40 years. I have several amps, and this Superseventeen is the best sounding amp I've ever played. I have a Fender HRD 4X10, DRRI,SFTR, an LSC 1X12. If I could afford another 17 if mine were stolen, I would defenitly buy another one. I got mine entirely on testemonials from Harm Cent, FDP, and TGP, and they were right on. As others have said, "It's like your fingers are connect to the tubes and speakers". Mr. Goodsell told me that if this amp doesn't change the way you think about guitar amplification, he'll give me my money back. I agree totally with these statements.

This review is for a Goodsell Super 17 loaded with 2 10's. There are quite a few 12" reviews, so this one is truly unique. To set the stage, first a disclaimer. I have worked with Richard in the other side of his life - the Hammond B3 universe, and as a studio owner, have a Goodsell B3 and a 122 in the studio, and have purchased three Hammonds from him over the years. Richard called me to let me know about his Guitar Amp designs and that I would really like one. I resisted for about a year (as I owned quite a few amps in the studio)
I agreed to take delivery on the 2x10, with Richard's pledge that it would permanatly alter my belief in all Guitar amps. The 2x10 landed the day I was leaving the country on vacation, but I fired it up an hour before airport time, and quite frankly it ruined my day --- because I had to leave. The amp has the standard 3 knobs, plus the verb know inside and is fitted with two 10's, but the cleaver thing is that they are different from each other. One is a ragin' Cagin and one is a Patriott. This approach has been used by serious players for years but always on a custom , post purchase basis. 10 for Feartues, because it does not need any other features than it has. Mine was delivered in August 2006.

OK - this is the most subjective of all areas in the guitar universe, so lets tread gently. I signed my first contract with Columbis in 1964, and have been playing ever since. I know, without a doubt, that sound is a combination of guitar and amp, not the result of just one side of the deal only. My favorite instrument is a Gretsch 6120 solid maple (amber finish) hollow body. I also have a 6122 and a Gibson 335. (Session Player) The combination of the two 10's, (different 10's) create a unique and very special sound. It has a bit more chime than 1 12' and is very open and wide. How can I make the claims vs: the 1x12, well, I took delivery on one of them also. I can make the amps sound almost the same, but there is just something magical about the 2x10's. This (these) are capable of providing spl's comperable to a 65 twin (yes - have one ) and the sound is presented with much greater control, and is considerably wider.

If Richard's amp business is anything like his Hammond business this will not be an issue - at all. I have used it for session work and some very loud stage shows, and it just sings. It will keep up with a screaming B3 and 122 and a full on drummer in rock and blues venues. 9 here because it will not do a large outdoor stage, but one would not expect an amp this size to be on a stadium stage without full pa.

I believe Richard would move mountains to make things right - he has in the hammond business. He knows his stuff, and more importantly, knows what his customers need and has delivered.

I picked up the 1x12 to be sure that the sound experience I was having was not just the 'one in one hundred' and it truly was not. It was 'one of one hundred' great sounding amps. Both tyhe 10's and 12 are exceptional. I replaced a 59 RI LTD with the 2x10's and everyone who is involved in the studio, as well as live performance clients have commented on the improvement in the quitar sounds. Fit and Finish, Construction, Features and the magic of two different speakers, chosen intentionally make this a remarkable amp. I know anyone who plays one will find tonal suprized out of the most familiar guitar. Well worth the price tag. Thanks Richard !
