Amp was made sometime this year. It's great for all the styles I play (Blues, Blues Rock, Classic Rock). It can do country music with no problem either...... It's a single channel EL-84 power tubed amp. It has reverb and tremolo and a gain knob on the top panel. It responds incredibly to your pic attack and going clean to mean using your guitar volume, and tone knobs. It does not have an effect loop in it, but I don't use the effect loops anyways. It has 17/5 wattage switch on it and it's definitely loud enough to gig with at small bars/clubs or mic'd at larger ones. The 5 watt mode is excellent for basement/bedroom playing.

The amp is very musical and responds to your picking styles. Hit it light it will be clean , dig in a little it starts overdriving in a good way. Turn the volume up on both amp and guitar and it will do a nice small Marshall grind. When the gain knob is at the 3 o'clock position, the tone knob will act like a boost on the amp for additional Overdriving. Very awesome.. It's an extremely quiet amp and only weights in around 29 lbs.

I would gig with the amp without a backup. When I brought the amp home after a week of playing one of my 12ax7 tubes went belly up on it. It affected the reverb with loud hissing as I turned it up. I fixed it after contacting Richard Goodsell who told me what to do. Read the next category.

I have emailed Richard a few times and within 20 minutes everytime he has responded. I had my reverb tube go bad on it (read above) and within 15 minutes after emailing him he repsonded telling what tubes to change and offered to ship me new ones. I had some spares and swapped them out and back up in 20 minutes. The man stands behind his products and seems to help out in anyway possible.

I have been playing for 20 years. I have owned several "boutique" amps such as Bad Cats, Reinhardts, Carrs, Vintage Sounds, newer Marshalls, Old fenders. I really like everything about this amp, it loves pedals and has the best EL-84 type of sound going for it. It's a little expensive but most good ones are for a reason. The craftsmanship is superb inside and out! If it was ever stolen, I would be very upset and hopefully my insurance will enable me to afford another one or I would have to trade a bunch of stuff to get get one again.

Bought this amp in September of 2008. New diretly from Richard Goodsell. Has reverb, tremelo, 12" speaker (his own design to keep the weight down), solid state rectifier, gain and volume knobs. 5/17 watt switch for bedroom or gig levels.
The best feature of this amp besides the tone is the weight.
At 29lbs it is one of if not the best sounding small combo around.

I play a Guild Bluesbird with PRS McCarty pickups, a PRS McCarty, Hagstrom Viking Deluxe with Dimarzio DP194 and DP195 humbuckers, Fender Thinline, etc. Mostly blues, but rock, etc. Incredible overdrive tone but I use a Barber LTD pedal for more overdrive.
The gain knob on the Goodsell provides a nice bite though.
This amp can be as clean as you want of dirty. Up to you.

Richard does not like having broken Goodsell amps in the field.
He fixes them like he builds them, with passion!
He replaced my two spring reverb tank with a three spring becasue I wanted more "space." Thanks Richard!
Do not need or worry about a backup with this amp but I always carry spare tubes.

The best in the business!
I think the warrenty is for a year.
I've had Richard repair an older MK II for me. Great experiance.
He's got a lifetime customer in me and this repair experiance was why I bought the MKIII from him.

I've played for 40 years. Currently play out two to three times weekly. Have owned all of the lower and high end mass produced stuff like Fender's, etc. New stuff is just junk.
My Carr Rambler, Goodsell MKII and now MKIII are my favorite amps.
The MKIII will now be the first choice due to the low weight. The tone is incredible for a light small combo.
If stolen I would cry for weeks, wait for the insurance money if there is any and plead with my wife to allow me to buy another one from Richard Goodsell!

Amp is MK III s/n 19. Richard finished it about two weeks ago.
It has the RGH 12 speaker made in Kentucky. Reverb, footswitchable tremolo. No effect loop. None needed. Gain, tone, volume controls. This one is great looking: green elephant Tolex with a wheat colored grille. This newest model is housed in a tweed Deluxe style cabinet and is extremely portable.
Has triode/pentode switch to drop 17 watts down to 5 and totally changes the topology. This amp has AC 15, Marshall 20w, Tweed Deluxe and Blackface Princeton flavors, but is it's own thing.
At first I had reservations about the plug in SS rectifier used to keep the weight down, but he has designed it to give voltage sag characteristics similar to a tube rectifier. There is no heater filament power for a recto tube so the power transformer is lighter; total amp weight 29 pounds!
I put in a Weber Copper Cap 5Y3 equivalent rectifier (like tube rectifier but needs no heater power) and it has more sag but the SS rectifier FEELS better and has great low end punch.

Here is the deal! The tone of these amps is YUMMY. I have a 74 strat that I was going to Ebay because it sounded like plywood. This little amp makes mediocre guitars sound great, good guitars sound orgasmic. This amp has the smoothest breakup and glassy EL 84 thingy going on that I have heard. Different than Vox, Dr. Z or Victoria.
Amp has very little noise and can get as loud as a Hot Rod Deluxe or Vibrolux. It's a sleeper.

Please see below.
Amp is incredibly simple. Hi quality components.
Not too much to go wrong. Solid State rectifier is a plug in.

I believe that Richard Goodsell would probably fix this amp for free if it ever had problems. He will take time to work with you almost anytime over the phone or email. Best tech support system ever: SINGLE POINT OF CONTACT!

I have been playing since the 70's and have owned most everything to play bars to stadiums. This is a unique little amp and it sounds way bigger than it is. I would own another but this is a DESERT ISLAND AMP. (of course, you would need an AC generator that would run on coconut husks)
I think this amp has VALUE even at nearly $2000 because it does that EL 84 thing so well and SO MUCH MORE. And great portability!
To qualify myself:
I currently own
Tweed Deluxe
64 black Deluxe
65 black Princeton
76 Boogie MK 1
Guytron GT 100 Rev. B
Dr. Z Maz 18
Dr. Z Carmen Ghia
