I don't know if they even know what this is at Gretsch, but the people there are very helpful.

IF YOU CAN FIND ONE (which you can't), pick it up. This thing is the real deal.

All the features an amp needs and then some, without being too complicated. 2 x 12 combo amp, solid state, but you would swear its all tube...really big and heavy..and very rare. Four feet tall, and weighs about 70lbs. Made around '70-'71. Reverb, tremolo, echo...with three button foot switch. Two channels, one with the effects plus treble and bass, and a clean channel (which is MUCH louder) with volume, bass, and treble. Two jacks for effects channel (one bright, one normal), two jacks for clean channel, and a stereo jack. There is also a jack on the side near the bottom for hooking up another cabinet. Also has power outlet in back. Output seems to be around 40 watts. Cool little light on the front in a hooded cowl lights up the logo. Black tolex over plywood, silver/gold grill...and get this...the entire inside of the amp has two inch insulation!

Sound Quality : 9
I play a 2002 Dearmond Guild Starfire Special and an all original '63 Stratocaster through this, and both sound wonderful in their distinct ways. I play blues, rockabilly, 50's stuff, etc...the amp is PERFECT for these styles of music. It's not an amp for distortion, though I do hook up a tube screamer to it, and get a nice bit of dirt...but not too much...this amp is NOT for metal, or any of that junk.

Reliability : 8
A circuit in channel one went out on me after I had it a few days, but the fix was easy and inexpensive....other than that, put a howitzer on it, and you've got a tank.

Are you kidding? Anybody connected with the design and construction this amp is either dead, or doesn't remember working at the plant that made them. These were manufactured either by Multivox/Premier or an outfit called GSM, all US companies but little or no info about any of them. My amp tech is a certified genius who could get great tone out of a marshmallow...so customer support is not an issue.

For a solid state amp, this beast has amazing sound...quiet as a grave, which is appropriate, because it is as tall and heavy as a tombstone...19 x 42 x 11 are the dimensions. Part of me is wondering why I am writing this review...the odds are finding one are pretty slim. If you do, but the thing...not only does it sound fantastic, but your bandmates and friends will think you are just too cool for school.

IF ANYBODY HAS A MANUAL FOR THIS AMP -- PLEASE CONTACT ME!!!!

Not sure when it was made but it must be late 60's or early 70's.
Very versatile and a amazing amp! I have been coveting this amp for the last 6 months ....finally scraped the money together and it's all I had hoped for. 40 watts. It is solid state but breaks up nicely and has a amazing tone. I use a Rickenbacker 330 and a Fender Tele. It has a funky 3 switch footswitch for tremelo, reverb and echo.....the echo is a staccato pulse that is ultra cool.....this amp can make some of the craziest sounds. It has a light on the front that shines up on the Gretsch logo. Check out this site for a cool picture of this amp.

It has 2-12 inch speakers and is huge and heavy....about 75 pounds.

Sound Quality : 10
Very quiet....no noise at all.

Reliability : 10
It is built like a tank.....if it still works after 35 years, it's gonna last forever.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Not applicable.....but I did find the schematics on the internet in case I ever need to repair it.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for almost 40 years....my other amp is a AMpeg Super Jet with tremelo and reverb.
If the Gretsch amp was stolen, I'd try to find another but they are very rare....I love the tones this amp produces.

Late '60's - Gold Grille - all gold hardware lit up by a classy but obscure bulb. 2 chan - reverb, trem, stereo aux in, powered out, non-grounded, non-polarized plug - had it grounded to reverb chasis... got rid of that buzzing and shocking problem. three button foot switch - 60 hybris watts - pretty loud - twangy reverb - two trem settings, one fully adjustable - the other balls to the wall - like echo

Sound Quality : 7
used it with a late 70's Gretsch Walnut Beast-ish solidbody. Nice and jangly tones - surfy reverb - fairly quiet - not a big cojones amp - no distortion

Reliability : 10
this amp never broke. bulb burnt out - couldn't find a replacement... bummer.

Customer Support : No Opinion

A BEAUTIFUL amp... sound is good too - but this ended up being more of a wallflower and backup amp after I got a vibrolux and a gibby minuteman. sold it recently to a lucky guy. I miss it already.
