I believe this amp was made in 1969. There is very little that I could find about it. It seems to be a modified Thunderbird but instead of having two speakers a 12 and a 10(for reverb) it has a 15" and the reverb and pre-amp is hooked into the power amp via a RCA cord into a jack. It has a 4 ohm 15" no name speaker; two channels, one without and one with reverb and tremolo; it is a very rich and round sounding amp and breaks up quite nicely when pushed. See the other review for more specs. The tremolo is much too fast at it's lowest speed in my opinion.

I will use this amp to record with for now. Mostly contemporary Christian and blues/rock. The amp is very quite but I usually play through a Deluxe reverb and it's hum city. The superstar has a hum control which works very well. Using a Sunday Driver by Aphek, I was able to reproduce sounds very similar to SRV and Jimi; with it cranked without any outboard effects I found myself playing The House is a Rock'n andLet the Good Times Roll. This is a good sounding amp at all volumes.

It must be very reliable as it is still working. It appears to be all original except for a replaced knob. Even the tubes are vintage...ie GE. It needs a new handle and the speaker cloth is stained and the aluminum front place has some corosion where the clear coat was scraped through. Due to its age, I don't think that I would gig with it without a back-up of a newer amp.

I could find nothing from Guild about this amp.

I've played for 40 years and this amp takes me back to those late nights in the 60's when we would play forever. If it were lost or stolen I doubt if I could get another as it seems to be a rare bird.
If you can grab an old Guild amp, do it. You will be pleasantly surprised. I think it is the last of the undiscovered other amps that were produced in the 60's. I think it is a fantastic value for an amp of this quality to be had for $250.00. Buy one if you can find one.

Built in 1969. Two channels with reverb and vibrato. Four inputs. 15 inch speaker. This is a poor man's Vibroverb!! The main amp and the preamp are seperated by a cord. Power section is a solid state rectifier, 12AX7 driver and two RCA 6L6GC's. Preamp is all 12AX7's with a 6GW8 for the reverb. Hum balance control. You can measure the bias with your meter using the input right on the amp. Very cool. Speaker extentsion output. High quality point to point wiring.

I play blues through a G&L SC3 and a Les Paul Standard. This amp has a warm blues tone when pushed but to kick in the overdrive I use a tube screamer. 15 inch speaker is original and sounds great for my stlye of playing. Lush reverb. Nice vibrato which I only use once and a while.

Made in 1969 and still kicking! When I purchased the amp it needed a cap job and some minor repairs. I got all this done for right at $200. It was well worth the investment as this amp really has the tone.

I have been playing for 28 years. I have owned all the Fender amps ever made. This one is a good find. Plus it was in very good condition when I bought it. With the repairs to me it was a steal! Try to pick up a Vibroverb for less than $3000. I had never seen a Guild amp before this one and I am quite impressed. 35 years and still going strong.
