The features on the Harmony 303A made in Chicago amp are perfect for me... 1 chicken head volume and three inputs. The 3 inputs are great because when I plug in I don't look behind the amps and do it by feel. The 3 inputs give me a better chance of finding the hole and everybody knows 3 holes are better then 1.
I play any small venue, street, backyard, small dive etc. My style is primitive organic electrified delta blues. There are no big noises that the 303A has to battle with just the occasional well meaning delta enthusiast who had to much liquid entertainment and wants to sing the blues also. This amp boast a 6 inch Jenson "loudspeaker" driven by a 12AU6, 50C5, and a 35W4. This are not tubes that you will usually find at your tube outlet but they are out there. I got a lifetime supply from Ebay on all 3. I'm no tube Xpurt but besides the great little 6 incher, the 12AU6 is a sharp cutoff pentode and I think this really matchess up great with the speaker for my needs. I'd like to give features a 10 but nobody would believe it so I give it a FAT 9.

The guitar I use with this amp is a Gretch archtop from the 1940's with a vintage Dearmond "pickup on a stick", made by Rowe Industries. The output from the pickup by itself isn't rally sufficient to drive any amp so I give it some help with a Danelectro stompbox called a Daddy O'. I utilize the gain of the thing nand not the distortion. Here's the real good part... Some of the most popular material I play (mine too) is Muddy Waters early plug in songs, I Can't Be Satisfied (recorded with Aristocrat later changed to Chess), Rollin Stone, Honey Bee, Train Fare Blues etc and after trying many and exspensive amps vintage and otherwise, this amp does it. If you want to get an idea of what I'm talking about listen to Rollin Stone (Muddy Waters Best Of *CHESS) and if your looking for that particular unexplainable sound I recommend a Gretch archtop, Dearmond vintage P U and a 303A. Also does real good with Robert Nighthawks electric stuff. If the reader of this review hasn't listen to Muddy or Nighthawk or any of these early electric pioneers,... get at it. Its the real deal. The Gretch is the only guitar is use with this amp.

This amp looks like H__l and must have been put thru same and the thing stays quiet until called on. I run amps hard and feed em tubes more then would be a "normal" persons experience. This little amp is a storm trooper, as long as a big fat women doesn't sit on it.

I'm 51, been playin since I was 14. I don't want to know how many years that is... If it were stolen I'd be surprised somebody would know enough about the 303A to risk his life. I am in process of buying another at this time. I love this amp because it makes it possible to pay proper respect to Muddy and all the other great Blues Artists from days gone by.

Made in 65,5 -7 watts uses a 12au6 50c5 and a 30w4.I was able to find the tubes in an electronics hobby shop.I pick it up cheap on ebay put in new tubes and installed a 3 prong plug and it worked just fine.it came with a 6" jensen speaker which I replaced with a Carvin Vintage series VL 10 inch speaker.it barely fit but I was able to get it in.

I use a Gibson SG and A G&L F100.this is a cool little amp.I put an Ibanez AD-9 analog delay in front of it and it nails that 50's tone.put a tube screamer in front and it just creams.nice and simple one knob and just put it on 10

There is the faintest remains of a date printed on the underside of the chassis; April 30, 1965(or 3... it's hard to make out the last number. Three inputs: one "closed circuit" (ie: bright), and two "open circuit" (normal), along with a on/off volume switch. This is certainly not a vastly flexible amplifier, but the feature set is elegant in its simplicity. It's probably about 5 watts, and a schematic and parts list is stuck on the inside of the cabinet. The wiring job inside is well laid out, clearly done by hand, and again, elegantly simple. It uses tubes that aren't very often seen these days, however: A 12AU6, a 50C5 and a 30W4.

I love this little amp. I own several high power, reasonably vintage tube amps, including a '79 Hiwatt DR-103, an old Traynor YBA-1a, and a '68 Champ, all of which sound great... But there's just something about this little pressboard pipsqueek that makes me smile real wide when i play it. I think any guitar would sound just fine, but my Strat just croons through it! It gives a real punchy, warm blues tone, with a nice ringing top end, and the volume level is just right when you crank this baby wide open. It's loud enough to get the juices flowing, but not so loud as to wake the neighbors in the middle of the night. Perfect. My Les Paul sounds great as well, using the bridge pickup, but the little 6" Jensen can't quite handle the lower tones with the rhythm pickup engaged, hence the 9.

I just got it, it's in unbelievably nice shape for its age, and i'm not going to take it out anywhere, so i don't foresee any problems.

Is the company still around? Doesn't matter because servicing this thing would be a cinch... Well, i guess that depends whether you can find replacement tubes or not. Luckily the tubes in mine seem in pretty good condition.

I give this thing a 10 just because it's so freakin' cool. I can't imagine a better practice amp. Why spend the same money (or more) on some generic sounding, solid-state circuit board Mcdroner w/cheese, when there are scads of old tube beauties languishing in secondhand shops around the world, just waiting for you to come around and make them feel young again? Make the effort. Look around. Reap the wild wind!

I just had to join this elite group of harmony owners! This amp was probably built in the early 60's. Made of cardboard composite material-similar to danelectro-silvertone amps. One channel, three inputs, one volume knob, three tubes. Chassis mounted on the bottom, controls to the rear. Approx. 5 watts.

Nice little practice amp. Basically turn it all the way up for that blues tone. Not very bright tone, more of a darker tone. Surprisingly quiet for an amp this old.

Cool practice amp, especially if sharing a wall with your neighbor. Would I buy one again? I got this for free- yeah, I'd take one off of someone's hands again!
