This amp is a single ended EL84 blues machine! It doesn't have many features, but it has: 1 Volume Know, 1 Tone Knowb, 1 Tremelo Intensity knob, 1 Tremelo Speed knob, 3 inputs, and 1 input for a footswith. The tubes are: EL84, 6AU6A, ECC83, and a 5Y3GT rectifier. Mine used to be a 1x8 combo, but I purchased it as just a chassis and have made a head out of it. It is now hooked up to 2 12" vintage Rola Alnico's.

As with most Harmony tube amps the sound is incredible and extremely under rated. With my H410 head hooked up to my 2-12's I get an extremely amazing blues tone. Fully cranked...think SRV, Zepplin, even AC/DCish tones. It is extremely touch sensitive. Fully cranked I get a nice overdrive...but if I roll back the volume on my Strat (H-S-S) just a bit...you get a singing clean tone, similar to that of blackface fenders. Even just picking lighter cleans it up. As far as noise, well...there really isn't much. lol. The tremelo you ask? Very warm tube tremelo...but I don't use it much, and really have no need for it...so I really can't describe wether it is very good or not.

Uh yeah...its still under warranty...it has a 50yr or 100,000 hour warranty...What the hell? Its VINTAGE! I can't say anything about Harmony's customer support as I have no experience with them.

This is one of my absolute favorite amps. It is one of the warmest sounding amps i have ever heard. Great for blues, classic rock, and even some hard rock. If it were stolen, I would track the SOB down that stole it...and beat him mercilessly. I would definitely try to find another one :)

Features are minimal, but that's okay. Simplicity at its best. See other posts for specs.

Wow, what a sound! Single coils sound real good, humbuckers sound great. Not enough power to keep up with a rock band w/out being mic'd. Small and light enough to use two of these in stereo (like I have). Sweet heaven. Great for recording ala Jimmy Page style, although mine can be a little buzzy because of the 2-prong plugs. Also, the tremolo on both of mine is way too subtle. Is this normal? I don't know. I don't give tens and I'll take a point off for the tremolo.

No customer support, but who needs it?! These are very basic amps and are EZ to work on.

Been playing about 20+ years. I have lots of pro gear for gigging, but love using these little gems when I get the chance; especially for recording. I liked the first one so much I bought a second, so I guess I would replace, or in my case, add to. Love the simplicity and sound, but wish the tremolo was more "there". Also would be nice to have reverb, but I can survive w/out it.

I havn't really dated this amp yet but it is in the mid-60's (I guess). I am a blues harmonica player and this amp is a dream! Certainly as sweet as any champ, I personaly wouldn't trade it for anything!
Is has plenty of power for harmonica in most live venues other than large clubs or theatres. I get a lot more power out of it before feedback cause we replaced the 12AX7 with a 12AT7. Low feedback, low down and dirty.. man this amp rocks!

I reall,y like how this amp breaks up! I use a Shure Greenbullet that Dave Kott customized for me! It has a Controlled Reluctance element and really sounds like it was made for this amp.

This thing is far more rugged than the Silvertones that was being made during and right after these buggers biut not quiet as sturdy as the old fender. I prefer this amp over it cause it is very versitile, durable and LIGHT.

This is an update on an earlier post. Since then I've started playing slide guitar. I'm using A Hofner solid body with one single coil pickup. I ended up cutting a new baffle board and squeezed the original 8"Jensen alnico along side the Gibson (CTS) 10" alnico. I'm using an Ibanez delay echo pedal and the little amp sounds absolutely great. Everytime I start playing slide guitar it amazes me with its
(only way I know how to describe it) Chimes and belltone sounds that it produces. Everyone whos played it in combination with the guitar says "man I gotta come back over and play that Hofner some more". I think its a combination of both. They just go good together. With the addition of the pedal and extra speaker harp which was good before
sounds so sweet.I also reduced the value of the resistors on the input jacks to preamp tube from 47k to 10k. Niiiice !

Best sounding amp I own. It dosn't weigh much more than the guitar.
I haven't heard many class A amps. Maybe other makes with the same type of operation would sound as good or better.I really dont know.
I'm convinced that simple circuits are the way to go though.

The original Jensen speaker dates mine to the 39th week of 1965. This amp is the best little practice amp I've ever heard. Had it sitting next to a champ the past two weekends and the champ can't touch this. For a little 60's practice amp the features are actually quite satisfactory. There are three 1/4 inch inputs, two labeled "instruments" and one labeled "microphone". Both are very useable. The microphone input gets very loud and provides an early and infinitly pleasing natural overdrive. For cleaner sounds use the instrument inputs. With the tone control you can sculpt your sound from a deep, complex vintage tone with the full pallate of lows, mids and highs to a more danelectro-celebrated lo-fi vintage sound. Vintage tones no matter which way you turn, but a choice of those at least. The tremelo unit on this is high quality; it's the best sounding tremelo I have and I use it quite a bit. On lower settings it can hint at a chorus pedal, and the controls can really make this trem get extreme. Did I mention this am is LOUD? Plugged into the microphone jack with the volume knob on 7-8 you'll keep up with the Jonses during practice and have the best sounding distortion in the joint. Guess it's only 5 or 10 watts, but dayam!

My example had just had the once over from a tech so no noise at all. Great for blues with it's break-up characteristics, also good for low volume country and jazz. This amp doesn't exactly sound like a Marshall, or a Fender, but has it's own identity, and a welcome one at that. I mainly use a vintage Les Paul through it but have also plugged in various Strats and they all sound good, although the Strats seem to brighten the amp up a bit, which would be my only complaint about this amp. With humbuckers, this amp can be a little dark, but changing tubes around could make the difference. Speaking of tubes, mine came with a GE 6bq5, an original Harmony 12AX7, a Japanese 5y3 and an RCA 6au6. Nice tubes except for the Harmony and 5y3. I have since swapped the 12AX7 with an RCA and the change was amazing. I will soon be changing out the Japanese rectifier tube with a NOS to see what the difference will be. Put the good tubes in these and they will respond in kind.

THere are plenty of these out there, many with original Harmony tubes still in them like mine. If thats not dependable then I don't know what is. Don't think it's loud enough to gig with except in garage or small party.

Been playing for 15 years, own other quality gear including Fender tube amps, Strat, Paul. I would Have to replace this if something happened to it, no question. This amp must weigh only like 5 lbs. I'm surprised the sheer volume of it doesn't send it rocketing across the floor. Ok, the one thing I wish it had was reverb. Ok, two things... a brightness switch for my Paul. All my buddies want one and one is already looking for the same model. I want my own sound, but the quality is there, so I couldn't tell him no.

1x8 tube combo.Pots date 65.volume, tone,tremolo intensity and speed.
Pretty good sounding tremolo but I've disconnected it from amp and seems to get more volume and better tone.I use it for harp and tremolo
isn't where its at.Reverb would have been what I need but I'm yet to own a low powered older amp with that function.I've changed caps and replaced speaker with 10 inch alnico Gibson out of 65 Skylark.5 watts but pretty damned loud.I've been playing 7 years but dont consider myself good.In the hands of a better blues man or woman this little amp would give you the Big Walter Horton sound. With harp its all about tone not features so 5 is about right

I play through home made crystal element mics and it honks pretty good.Turn the tone up and volume over 5 and you can overdrive the piss out of it.It distorts just about so.My big bros.the guitar picker
he hasn't played through it since I changed the caps but he liked it pretty well before.I think it's better suited for harp though

Depend on it hell.I dont think you could break it if you tried.I've been monkeying with it and I dont know my butt from a hole in the ground.I just cross my fingers after working on it hit on and amazed
when she lights up.Put a grounded cord on it but it still lacks a fuse.Put in a line out so to hell with micing it.Just go straight to P.A.

I remember in 65 my bros. had one sorta like this and a Teisco guitar.
They were considered a childs toy.Now with all the hokiepokie nonsence
they put on amps I personaly consider it the real deal.Manufacturers should get their heads out of their butts and learn from the past. You probably could have bought this amp new in 65 for 30 or 40 dollars.I like it too much to let it get lost or stolen.Wish i had a whole room full of them.Got a silver faced Princeton Reverb. Love it.Got a 2x12
130 watt Music Man love it to.The Harmony does what it was intended to
do just as well or better than them.Wouldn't dream of cutting lose
with that Fender for love or money though
