just made, i was told that this is the last 100 watt head harry joyce made. he does slow steady work. the layout point to point is immaculate. this amp is not for low volume breakup, although it can be set to a nice moderate drive using the master volume. four inputs, brilliant and normal, can be jumpered to use all three volumes. this is not a toy. i have had many toys. some were good toys, butif you are going to step up, this is the way to go. all the power you could hope for, 100 watts, but am sure that is a conservative estimate. all the best components, the amp is in black with white piping, not your usual tolex texture, just a bit different. stunning. gold back grill. 4 tesla el34s and 4 Ei silver plate 12ax7s. no reverb. this is a stage volume amp. the reverb is unnecessary. this amp can do big british clean and overdrive to hard rock. it has all i need.

very quiet amp, i usually run it normal volume about 12 oclock and the master on 10 oclock. huge clean tone. as others have said , you have to hear this amp. i am convinced this would be an amp hendrix would use, as it reminds me of the power trios that came out in that era. just put a pedal in front for a different grind and crank it in a big gymnasium. i have had four blues pearls, 2 mesa boogies, 2 soldanos ( not the big ones) several older fenders, about 18 in the last four years. i had several dr z's. i had a kt45 which is an ef86 amp with one 12ax7 and two el34s. about 45 watts, but with not much headroom. also a route 66, but i cant understand how that amp is so coveted, as it doesnt have much clean headroom either. it is what it is. i am not knocking dr z amps at all, but they are a low volume early breakup style, a good style for some, but just not my style. i play an integrated lead/rythm style with a lot of runs, and have to have a good clean tone, and i could get that with a solid state, but it wouldnt have the warmth and depth of el34 tubes. and the ability to crank with a nice sweet british overdrive. this amp kills, plenty of volume. no problem there at all. you would have to hear it to believe it. everyone says "this amp is the best", but for overall appearance, sound, build quality this is the best i have found. it fits me just right. i have given great reviews to some dr z amps, and i now look back on those amps fondly, but as toys, in the kindest sense. i cant imagine anyone using a couple dr z's and then trying one of these and then going back. i would call the sound of this amp as "the who meets hendrix" srv would play one too, i am sure. some people strictly play 6L6 tubes, others think el34s are just midrangey marshall tones. not this amp. this was described as "not really a high watt and not really a marshall, it does not have that marshall midrange". also, mesa boogies have a useless midrange quality i find annoying. after 20 amps, this is the best of them all. i have a 69 fender super reverb that i dont need anymore. i like the tone of a super right before it breaks up ( and add a pedal maybe) but this nails that easily at any volume. everybody likes a fender clean tone. this has that in spades as far as i am concerned. with the ability to go over the top, this amp is built tightly and better than anything i have ever seen, hands down.

there has been some controversy, and harry joyce is now dead. but charles and george scholz can be trusted to deliver the goods. i had to preorder and was fortunate and blessed to get one of the last amps harry made. they sell alot of 50 watters, but i wanted a big one.

i have played for over 30 years , and i decided to spring for this to get an amp from a legendary amp maker, that i could play anywhere without a big PA if i had to. this is the era of small early breakup amps that you put a mic in front of. that is ok, but if you like to really roar, this is for you , but you have to have the right speakers. most of the other amps i have had, had a great clean sound and poor overdrive, or vice versa. why not go for the best. of course many would say soldano is the best, or bogner or some of the newer stuff. this is a pro players amp, built to last, pretty pricey, but looking at some of the other stuff, like a 2/12 50 watt combo from top hat for 2500, and some heads going for 2500, this is a great value. i am going to play this outdoors this summer and really get some good use out of it. this is not a small club amp. but for me, it is the best i have seen and heard.
