This is an early 1990's 1x12 combo. MADE IN U S A. 2 channels, reverb, effects loop. This is the fifth hiwatt amp i've owned and the first with channel switching, works flawless by the way. This combo looks like a mk1 bluesbreaker style with controls on top rear, looks like a pricey boutique amp. This amp has 5-12ax7 and 2 el34 tubes, all 7 tubes are chassis mounted with flying leads from circuit board. The build and sound quality are considerably better than a comparable marshall late 1980's jcm 800 4210 channel switcher, i know as i've owned 3 of them and 1 even got all new sprague orange drops, new filter caps, mullard 12ax7 and rft german el34 and a $300 fane axa speaker and it still had a thin, fizzy DIODE SOUND. This hiwatt uses 5 12ax7's for an all tube signal path unlike the marshall cheap crap. FEATURES I WISH IT HAD: cathode bias/class a switch, mid control for ch1 and a cooler range for ch1 gain control.

lp custom & carvin cali ct both sound above average through both channels. i do not use single coils and ch1 requires a weak 12ax7 or at or au in order to get a "good" clean tone with no breakup for neck pups. with some mullard, telefunken and ge pre tubes this amp has become an amp i plan on keeping. the rft el34 add to the rich sound. with cheap tubes the sound is a little better than a marshall. to my suprize this hiwatt really improved with premium tubes, the lead channel will do regular hiwatt and beyond without needing a distortion box. this amp is more versatile than the pricey classic hiwatt one trick pony amps that i sold for over 3 times what this D50LCR cost me! sounds better and is a hell of a lot more useful, i could not see keeping my classic hiwatts since a dist box is needed to get heavy sounds and that ruins the tone of the amp. a great hard rock iron maiden, g&r and billy squire distortion that characterises a good marshall can be had with ease along with a clean channel that sounds as good as a $1600 hiwatt AND a fxxxing effects loop so my delay sounds professional with overdrive. i do like old hiwatts but they are outdated antiques with 0 for features and this 1990's era amp happens to take the name out of the dark ages. for the low price i paid a 9 is earned.

the chassis is the identical thickness and construction as early hiwatts, lcr filt caps, beefy transformers and identical pots as on audio bros. and harry joyce overpriced amps. 3/4" birch ply used on cab, baffle and back panels. most of the coupling and signal caps are better quality than audio bros and hj amps. these rs pots do not last forever and a few have been upgraded. this amp is biased correctly and on the hot side with o scope and it still runs cool after being on for 3 hours practicing. this amp may be immortal.

USA MADE ! hd series. whoever made this is long gone. luckily all parts can be found if anything goes down, this is not a 30th anniv. marshall made like a disposable korean lighter. no schematic found anywhere! anyone got 1 ? let me have a copy!

for the money nothing compares. i've only seen 1 other and they wanted $1000. i'll let the guys without 2 morgtages buy the old ones and use $1000 of pedals and still not sound right cause they don't install effects loops since the dinosaur will lose value. you could say i like the effects loop, channel switching and reverb. i really like the classic mk1 bluesbreaker look this hiwatt has. I WOULD OF LIKED A SCHEMATIC.
