Built in the seventies it totally supplies every sound I want to have from really clean sounds to overdrive, like the old Ampegs has bright and normal inputs, no channels or other stuff i don't need.
Main things : It has BASS and POWER more than I need.
Heard it over a 1200W rated Ampeg 8X10 and its earthquake.

I play sort of deep rythm guitar (bass played with chords) and it is very dynamically responsing to pick attack from clean to crunch. I've heard it with a boss Bass Overdrive and there it has even more bass and a tight sound but i like the amp levelled to distort alone most.

Okay. my Hiwatt burned down with the rehearsal room but got built up again by the tech. So with this grain of salt :
Problems by burn : defect Tubesocket, cable shortings inside (?!)
Problems to fix : Fuses burn through,Turn-on Bump
But none of these Problems were before the fire.NO Problems.

Yeah, right. If ANYONE reads this who maybe has access to a wiring diagram of this amp mail me NOW, because I don't trust the tech using pre and main fuses of 3 and 4 amperes (!!!)
Customer support is a laugh.
Not even easy to find the amp, but somebody that KNOWS the amp to repair it is here nearly unfindable.

I'd get me a noose if it was stolen, I have never seen somebody else own this amp (particularly i haven't seen another of this amp in ten Years music)
Love : Sound . Hate : Personal reliability.
Want to share this : Don't let your rehearsal room burn with your amp inside.Lots of tears.Compared to Hiwatt Dr 103 (100 Watts) I like the volume of the 200 more, but Dr103 is more easy to get to distort.

The modified hiwatt I own has a very good bass and tone,Evidently,Howard Dumble Knows how to wire the input jacks to the Mullard ecc83 tubes to give it this tone.It is a 200 watt head made in the seventies. But it doesnt seem to have the crunch of my old ampegs. If anyone has an ampeg v-4or vt-40 you know what i mean.I

The amp is humm free.I use a heavy metal pedal when I play,With the distortion on the pedal turned all the way down, and the brilliant knob on the Hiwatt turned all the way up.

I have owned this amp for 2 years and I have had no problems with it,actually I can trust this amp more than the ampegs I own fenders and the others. This amp is made to last.

The Hiwatt people who own the company wont reply to any e-mail and Howard Dumble who the hell knows how to get in touch with him?So the customer support is non-existant.

I play all kinds of rock led-zeppelin to heavy metal and the amp performs excellent if it were stollen like a lot of my equipment has been I would be pissed,It is not an item i could replace.Basicly I feel I got a good deal on the amp.The only problem I have is finding replacement tubes,it takes six EL34,s and Hiwatt wont answer my e-mail and Howard Dumble is impossible to get in touch with. But as far as the amps performance absolutely perfect.
