well it is obvious that GOD gave the british the gift of audio knowledge. they have always been the best at this sort of thing. neve, audient, marshall, sound city, matamp, hiwatt, orange, simms watts, just to name a few. my preferences are marshall crunch, marshall clean, and scooped metal like a rectifier or krankenstein (sp?). after 42 years of playing every old valve amp out there, this hangs with the best of them. it does a fat clean like only the british can do. the high gain is right on the money. this head takes pedals like a dream-this head is a chest pumping trouser flapping wonder. i run it through a marshall 160a cabinet, the standard 412. it can sound like a marshall or fender, depending on how You set the eq. it is a beautiful thing to say the least. seems like it may have been made in the early to mid 90s. it has huge drake transformers like a marshall. another wonderful thing about an amp built after the 70s is, You do not have to use a variac. in case You guys out there don't know, You will smoke Your transformers if You do not use a variac to supply a steady 110 volts which is what pre 80s amps were built around and tuned at. todays voltages are higher. sometimes as much as 130 volts. so if Your plate voltage is 400 volts with a 110 volts supply, it will be around 480 or so with 130 volts. You will be sorry if You ignore this truth.

Reliability : 10
typical british construction. excellent build quality second to none. treated right and biased correctly with matched output tubes, this head will be reliable for decades.

Customer Support : 10
answered emailed questions rapidly, friendly, and sincerely.

Overall Rating : 10
this is as good as man can do in my opinion. it is as good as a marshall and will smoke any fender ever made.
