The guy above basically said all there is to it, except thought I'd better mention the technology behind the amp. A lot of people get this confused with being a valve amp, purely because of the sound and initial delay when firing it up. However, Hohner used a very clever technique (I think Total Guitar called it TubeSim - I'm getting this from them!) that has so far been unbeaten in solid state amps. The TubeSim, which is still used in a different form today by Line6, is basically wholly to do with the way the amp sends its signal to the single speaker. I can't remember the exact details cos my girlfriend through out the magazine months ago, but I just thought it deserved a mention. As you can see technology was way ahead of time. Other features: Reverb, LineOut/In, Drive.... and of course the legendary Chorus!

I tend to disagree with the comment that this is the "ultimate Les Paul", although my Epiphone Black Beauty sounds pretty good. My favourite combination is a Fat Strat coupled with this amp. I play a lot of Pink-Floyd style rock and so its important that my amp is able to handle effects and not distort them into something that sounds stupid, this amp is great for that, very stable.

Completely dependable, my friend (who introduced me to this amp in the first place) played his for 3 mopnths consecatively on the road. His PA broke down after about 1 month leaving him only with the option of turning his amp up full for the remaining 2 months. We still jam with our matching amps today and they're still rock solid.

Overall great amp. I bought a line 6 amp purely cos of that review about the TubeSim, and its still not as good as this. Rocks hard when I need it to and is clean when I need that too - can't ask for much more than that. Very warm clean tone.

Great chorus, 50 watt combo. distortion good, pretty solid clean and legendary reverb. lineout/headphones/send/receive etc... very rare with footswitch, hence very expensive also. overall, the features may not be as revolutionary as back then, but still outperforms most marshall solid states.

I'm currently using this with a Gibson Les Paul Special Humbucker and its mindblowing. I'd say this was almost the perfect Les Paul Amp. Obviously the reverb and chorus are what draw most collectors to this, but the distortions pretty mean too, and my friends tele gets a pretty nice sound. Above all, its loud! May take you ages to track one down (it took me 6 months of solid searching), but worth every minute. One of the only truly distinctive amps i've played.

This amp basically rocks. They're very, very rare and perhaps a tad overpriced, but if you see one below $500 snap it up because I know of many who ae searching for this beast. Great for practicing, but even better for stage, it can fill a decent sized room pretty easily. Get It if only for the chorus, you'll be envied throughout the land!
