PTP tube custom made amp w dual Celestion GT-1275s at least 2 years old. Too much amp for the buyer -- My very good luck. I grabbed it at the local GC in Paramus, NJ. It had been sitting in the high end room for quite a while and I can't believe I walked by it for weeks in a row and never noticed it among all the other boutique crap hidden back there. Then one day approx 5 weeks ago I just looked down and saw this grey-black rattleskin covered 2x12 combo larger than a Victoria or Kendrick or Fender Twin and immediately noticed the four plexi style inputs plexi style, two high (bright) and two low (bass) per channel. I use Keeley pedals exclusively, and just happened to have one in the car and brought it in plugged it in (SD1 Burr Brown Mod). I externally jumped the 1 bright to the 2 bass each is controlled by its own master volume. I had the two volumes on 1 and my guitar started tom play itself. Wow! What amazing 3-D guitar tone! All store sales stopped and everybody in the store came to the back to listen. The manager, (an extraordinary guitar player in a Steely Dan tribuite band and a knowlegeable gear collector himself) -- who never comes out of his office other than to complete a sale that the nimrods can't because they can't operate the computer point-of-sale system -- came out and said Wow! What an amp! (Based on the expression on his face I could hear him thinking to himself, "how the fuck did this thing get by me without me knowing about it? Shit! It could have been mine!!!!)

The clean goes from Nashville clean to Butchers Dog Fat Clean with a split-T PEQ structure that is so responsive and so musical; way beyond anything a Fender Twin or any of the high end btique clones out ther could ever envision being. You can run a jazz box into the low or a rock axe into the top this baby covers all the bases from straight ahead to EVH brown depending on the pedal you slam it with.

The reverb is rich and full. You cannot go beyond 2-3 or else you are in Shadows teritory if thats your bag then good. I only wish it had a reverb switcher to turn it on and off externally, but thats the price for this sweet baby.

Power for days.

This is louder than any plexi Ive ever played when cranked, and its tone is nothing short of 3-dimensional due to the aforementioned in another post, separate speaker for the tube reverb tank. This is a lovely reverb, not exactly a spring, and not actually a Hammond. I am not sure, but I think the designer created his own hybrid tube reverb tank circuit modeled after the old ampegs? I dunno. Never talked to him.

This is the last amp in my aresenal in my pro-rec studio.

It is very versatile in that you can create any tone you want by what you feed it. In the age of digital everything that models everything and does everything, this baby IS THE ELUSIVE THING THAT THE MODELERS have been trying to nail down for the longetst time.

Whatever you put in front of it shines out the other end in 3-D.

Did I mention 3-D?

and BTW,

its 3-D

In the studio I've run two custom archtop thru it, an ES-335 Dot, Strats, Teles, and LPs thru it, and all I can say is -- It is impossible to play a sour note on this baby in any genre, using any type of overdrive or distortion.

In the studio I use a Lynch swithcer at the front end and instead of jumping the inputs, run two separate lines into the front end and this way can switch between jumped or individual channels in real time with my third channel going to my stage tuner.

IMO, this is as good as it gets. I'm still stunned everytime I plug into it. Thanks Mr Holland for your vision and your ears!

Yes. I always carry spare fuses and always run my AC power thru a Furman AR series line regulator anyway.

I owned and played 1968 and 1973 Plexis for over 30 years until they both died several years and I buried them cermonially in my back yard. Until I found this amp, I stopped looking for replacements because they are not out there. This Holland filled the missing gap in my life and I am very happy that I accidentaly stumbled on it.
This is as good as it gets.

I ordered my blond Bishop combo April 1996 and received it in May sometime.I had a 1965 Super Reverb I wanted to replace with something more reliable and replaceable.I read a review of the Gibb Droll combo and thought it would sound cool with reverb. The control panel is that of a '59 Bassman with the reverb knob inside the cabinet. No channel switching, effects loop,or other nonsense. It's a 50 watt amp with 2 6L6's.It's always to loud for clubs but I use it anyway. It worked for outside gigs, but I could have used a closed back cab.

Sound Quality : 10
This is the fun part. The amp is perfect for my style.I play two Gretsch's,a 6120 and a pearl top Duo Jet.Obviously,I play mostly rockabilly with some country. It's pretty much a one sound amp,but the one sound is beautiful. It's very bright(which I like),and the reverb is the best.It has tons of clean headroom. It will distort a little, but at unreasonable volumes for clubs.

Reliability : 10
The only problems I've had have been with cabinet rattles.I've never had to have it serviced in 8 years(although I didn't have it for almost 2 years).Read on.

After having the amp for three years,I thought it would be more practical to have a head and cabinet.Because of the reverb speaker, the amp was the biggest combo I had ever seen, and I got tired of trying to fit it in my car.Mike Holland said he could do it in 8 weeks for $200.I shipped it to him October 1999,and I got it back MAY 2001!I am not kidding.Phone calls went unreturned, then the number was disconnected.Only by chance did I find out he had moved to Tennessee.

Overall Rating : 9
Before all the trouble,I actually ordered another Holland(mini Jimi),which also sounds great, but now I have learned my lesson.

This Amp Was Built For Me The Middle Of Last Year in 2M.It Has 2-12" Eminence Speakers For The Amp Then A Single 10" Speaker For The Reverb. The Signal Is Split For The Reverb Then Runs Into Its Own Pre-Amp Thru-
The Reverb Tank Then Out It's Own Speaker! This Way The Signal Is Not Degredated In Any Way.The Result Is The Reverb Is Nothing Short Of Amazing! This Reverb Does'nt "Mudd" Out The Way Other Amps Do.Now I Am No Amp Guru,And you Whould need To Verify These Specifics With Mike Holland, This Is The Way I Understood It.However I Do Know What Sounds Good And This Amp Does!!!!Aditionally This Amp Has Four Inputs Normal And Bright 1 & 2 And Then The Basics Volume-Bight & Normal,Treble,Bass,Middle And Presence And The Reverb Knob Is Located Inside The Cabinet.I Ordered 35 Watts With 6L6's And Honestly I am Not Real Sure How It's Configured Tube Wise.I Have'nt Stopped Playing It Long Enough To Look!

Sound Quality : 10
Typically All I Play Is A Stratocaster I Also Have A Tom Anderson Hollow T Classic. My Favorite Style Of Music Is Texas Blues And This Amp To Me Fits Perfectly. The Cleans Are CLEAN And Coupled With That Reverb It's A Lush Tone! Now There Is No Drive Knob On This Amp So You Have To Turn The Amp Up To Drive It.At Higher Volumes It Will Distort Nicely,But If Your Looking For Heavy Distortion Your Going To Need A Pedal.

Reliability : 10
I Have Only Had The Amp For 5-6 Months And I Do Not Move It Around To Much,But The Thing Is Fairly Big And Heavy. The Workmanship Is Spectaculer Almost Obsessive Looking.I Do Not Forsee Any Problems With Quality.

Customer Support : 10
When I Initially Ordered The Amp I Had Expected Only A Few Months Of Wait Time,However,It Ended up Being Closer To 5 Months-Because Mike Holland Decided To Move His Operation From VA.Beach To Nashville TN. During The Time My Amp Was Being Built.I Think Mike Sensed My Anxiousness The Last Time We Spoke On The Phone,He Told Me He Had To Make One More Run Back To VA.Beach And That He Whould Call Me.He Not Only Called Me To Tell Me My Amp Was Ready But Said He Had It In His Car!Then He Gets Directions To My House And He Brings The Amp To Me!!
Hows That For Service!!Nice Guy!! And There Is NO Doubt This Guy Loves His Amps-He Genuinely Wants To Be Helpfull With Suggestions On How To Configure Your Amp If There Is Any Questions.

Overall Rating : 10
If Anything Happend To This Amp I Whould Replace It Without Question.
I Have Tried Alot Of Amps-Twins,Vibrolux,Mesa Boogies,Top Hats You Name It,Now This Amp Does'nt Have The Gain And Distortion These Amps Have But In My Opinion Those Amps Do Not Come Close To The Bishop's TONE!!!!
