My amp was made in 2001 or 2002. For me the amp works because I am specifically going for a clean jazz sound. The dynamic response of this amp is what I am looking for because I am looking for an amp to recreate the subtleties in my natural guitar sound. The amp only has one channel. It is a tube amp. It has the warmth of the tube sound that I have not been able to find in solid state amps. When I play chords I can clearly hear all the inner voices even at higher volumes.
It is a straight-ahead amp with one volume control and treble, middle, bass, and EQ sweep. There are two reverb controls, a dwell and mix. There is plenty of power for my purposes. Usually I play solo or in a combo. The amp has served me well in big band situations.
It is also quite heavy. Sometimes I wish it had wheels but that also adds to weight, so I use a cart. There is a long power cord which sometimes comes in handy.

I am using it with a Hofner Verythin. It is a thin semi-acoustic.The pickups are standard Schaller humbucking which are common to many manufacturers. The amp is remarkably quiet, even more than my solid-state Roland JC and Polytone, which have given me noise problems in recording. The sound for this amp is geared for the clean jazz sound and is specifically tailored for that. The tone is incredible. It refuses to distort but I am OK with that.

So far in the year I have been using it, there has been no problem.

They seem to go out of their way to check up on their customers. It is a hand-made amp and I have recommended the amp to friends who have purchased one. They have taken great pains to customize the amp for their needs.

I have been playing over 40 years. I own a Polytone, a Roland Jazz Chorus. I sold my Fender DeVille (another tube amp) when this amp came into my life. I really love the tone. I hate the weight. But then again that goes withn the tube territory. I wish it were easier to take on the road. I am a professional musician. This is what I do for a living and can get any amp I want. This the one I've chosen and I have tried them all.

I just purchased this Jazz 2-10" combo about 3 weeks ago so it was made in August of 2001. It is 50 watts and one channel. It uses sovtek tubes and jensen speakers. The effects include a presence feature and reverb, with both mix and dwell. The presence puts some overtones into the mix and defines notes better. This is a very nice feature. The reverb is a nice tube sound. Overall, this is intended to be a simple amp with good sound. There are the three eq knobs, bass, mid, and treble. There's also a feature called a sweep knob which is supposed to take away feedback from different guitar models, especially useful for a hollow body. A final feature is the different impedence inputs which allow for easy conversion to a different setup. My intentions for this amp are for it to be used for a sweet jazz sound and on occasion a bluesy clean tone. In this context, the features of this amp are quite sufficient.

As you might expect, the sound is quite clean. And it stays clean for very high volume levels. There will be no problem here with competing, if playing in a high volume setting. The reverb is a sweet tone that is not as dark as a fender reverb. Presence is very effective, unlike my experience with fender's version. Right now, I am using a strat that has a humbucker in it along with 12 gauge strings. I just don't have the money yet to get a nice hollow body. However, I have tested the amp with my teacher's hollow-body. The sound is good. You can tell the difference from a regular transistor amp or most amps produced today for that matter in stores. So it does sound really good. But, and this is really my only reservation with speaking of this amp, I'm not so sure it has the warmth of an old vintage amp like the fender deluxe reverb. This was another of my options when I was looking and the deluxe reverb just had this warmth that I wanted so badly, but in a newer amp that the ability to be louder and more flexible. Note: I am still getting used to the amp so I'm not completely set in my opinions yet. I think the true test will be when I get a hollow body. I guess the closest sound to what I was looking for is Wes Montgomery's sound. So I'm being very particular as that is my nature.

The amp is built with such quality craftsmanship that is unmistakable. Mike Holland definitely is someone who knows his stuff. I do not see myself having many problems in the life of this amp. I can't emphasize enough the quality of work this amp displays.

Mike is real nice guy and so are the members that make up his crew. I found them to be very helpful. I stayed in contact with them through the construction process through email. One worry that I have is if my amp needs repair, I will have to ship it to Nashville because I am in MD.

I've been playing for about 6 years. I am currently taking jazz guitar lessons, one of the reasons for this purchase, my strong interest in jazz and its roots, the blues. I had a fender blues junior which was pretty sweet for its size, but I couldn't turn up without overdriving so much. Hence, my search for a new amp. The closest I came to buying a store brand amp was the fender blues deville. But, the sound really didn't match up. So I checked out vintage, but they're over-priced as I see it. So, finally, my solution came to Holland amps, a little less than what I was going to pay for vintage, but with the quality of hand crafted items. Sure, it took a little bit of faith. But, I'd say that I am happy with my purchase overall.
