The Juke is one of the best harp amps Ive owened, I purchased the amp used from a harp player who was real hesitant to sell it and man Im glad he did I dig this little amp! It has the all the features that a straight forword blues harpist needs, all cloth wired , all tube amplifier volume, treble, bass, presents, and this one came with the factory tube reverb installed by Holland! there is also a master volume in the back of the amp that I thought was going to be a pain! turns out its not at all.

The master volume in the back gives you huge volume and control over distortion! in fact the slightest amount of ajustment on any of the controls will will change tone from one extreme to another, I also own a 4x10 bassman and the Juke holds its own and sounds better, You can easily dial in distortion from crunchy to a screaming singing qaulity that I have never been able to attain before in a amp of this size. One of the things that I was especially impressed with was the fact that I could sit down in front of it and play at high volumes and get none or little feed back. At 35 watts this amp is loud! Its pure pleasure to play harp through and has allowed me to play and express my self at a level that I though was out of reach, its a beautifull thing when a piece of equipment can inspire a player like they sometimes can and rarely do, the Holland "Juke Joint" is such a piece. As for rating it a 10? well I dont know maybe it is? Ill definetly give it a 9 and save the 10 for that holly grail that all harp players are looking for.

As for reliability I have never had any problems, it is well crafted and built like a tank. I know that Holland has a life time warenty on this product but unfortunatly no longer is building amps for the public, my souce says he is in Nashville building amps for the elite! regardless the Juke is a piece of art and I can't foresee any problems, Its well built and is truly a piece of art.

The only bad I really have to say about the amp is they dont make them any more so if it ever gets stolen, smashed, broke, what ever? its gone! if I ever find one Ill pay a good penny for it! just to make sure

The Juke Joint is an incredible harp amp in a compact package. It is an extremely loud 35 watts of all tube power. It features volume and master volume along with bass, treble, mid, and presence controls, which allow you to dial in a wide array of sounds. Unlike many other amps, the controls really change the sound a lot. For instance there is a huge difference in sound between having the treble on 3 or having it on 4. Plus, these knobs all go to "12" - eat your heart out Nigel.
Another great feature of this amp is that it has the switches and fuse holder mounted on the front for easy access. On the real panel you have bias adjust controls - major bonus! The 12" speaker is connected to a jack on the bottom of the chassis, so you can easily unplug it and run through an external cabinet if you want. Also, this amp is small and light! No dolly needed here.
The greatest feature of this amp, though, is the cicuitry - all hand wired, no circuit boards, and all tube - including the rectifier.
The only thing missing on this amp is reverb, but since Mike Holland will customize any amp, I'm sure you could have it added if you want.

I've run several different mics through this amp and they all sound great. My personal favorite is a Shure 545s. This amp offers the perfect amount of breakup with big, fat low end and yet highs that can cut through when you want them to. I can get a fanastic, Chicago honk out of the amp, but I often inch the presence up a bit and get a sound that cuts right to the bone. Because of the Master Volume, you can really dial in any level of distrotion that you want. The circuit is very quiet - no hum or hiss. I've never heard this big of a sound in such a small package!

You can just tell by looking at this amp that it is put together with great care. I've only had mine for a few months, but I've had no problems whatsoever.

This amp carries a LIFETIME WARRANTY! Mike, Lane, and Chris are great to deal with. There was a short period of time when I trouble contacting them and I had to wait longer than promised for the amp, but it turns out that it was due to some extenuating circumstances including Mike moving his company to Nashville. They are all settled in now, and all indications are that they are now all caught up with their work. I had excellent communication with them around the time that I got the amp, and they contacted me personally to make sure that I was satisfied.

I love this amp. I have 6 amps and this is now the only one I use. It has a huge sound and yet it is so small and easy to move. My amp quest is over!

The Juke Joint model is a brand new harmonica amplifier from Holland Amps. I've had mine for 3 months, and it's one of only 3 that are currently in circulation.
This amp is extremely versatile for all harmonica styles, from clean chromatic playing to the nastiest honking blues. It has one channel and no effects, but has a channel volume and separate master volume.
I use this amp for all applications, studio, large arena performances, and small clubs.
The Juke Joint is a point-to-point wired, all-tube amp. One WONDERFUL convenience feature is a bias control on the back of the amp, underneath the protective top cabinet panel. Even if you are an "Electonics Dummy" you can bias this amp yourself with a simple volt meter. This saves you not only money, but the time an amp has to sit in a tech's shop waiting to be adjusted for new power tubes! A great feature for any amp user.

This amp is designed specifically for harmonica playing using a harmonica microphone (Astatic-type crystal element mics or magnetic element Shure Green Bullets). I use a Kevin's Harps "Crystal Ball", which is a modified Astatic JT30 with a volume control.
I was lucky enough to have had a hand in the original designing of the Juke Joint model. Mike Holland already had a magnificent harmonica amp called the Westside 35. I loved that amp, but was looking for something a bit smaller, lighter, and more portable that would still provide me with the same monster tone.
Once the Juke Joint model was created, Alec Drachman (another JJ owner) and I came up with the pre-amp tube array that works best with this 35w, 1x12 alnico speaker model: (r-l) 5751 -> 12AU7 -> 5751. Power tubes are a pair of 6L6's.
With a channel volume control AND a master volume control, you can easily control the overdrive level and overall volume to give you the exact amount of distortion you want at whatever volume is works best for you. In addition to the Bass, Treble, and Mids EQ controls, the Juke Joint has a Presence control that really brings the harp's overall tone into focus without risking the feedback that came come from pushing the Treble too high.
As for overall performance, this amp has all the balls of a vintage Fender Bassman, with more control over the volume and potential feedback. There is NO extraneous noise or hiss, and this amp works great in any environment, from a large stage/room to a small club. I absolutely love it!

The Juke Joint is solidly built inside and out, and sounds incredible. I have no qualms whatsoever about the amp's reliability. I do not travel with a backup amp, just a few extra tubes and a volt meter.

Since receiving my amp, I've had one minor repair taken care of (faulty input jack), and it took Holland less than a week for the repair and shipping back to me.
All Holland Amps come with a LIFETIME WARRANTY. They deserve a 10 just for that.

If you, like most harp players, covet the tone of a vintage, tweed Fender Bassman, you can purchase one of these great Holland amps: the Juke Joint (1x12) or its big brother, the Westside 35 (2x10's or 4x10's), and save yourself THOUSANDS and the headaches of potential ongoing maintenance.
P.S. The amp LOOKS great too. My "JJ" has a dusky blue tolex covering the cabinet, and has a heavy weave flat black grill with white piping framing the grill. A very 50's retro look. All the control knobs and input jack are in the front of the amp and easy to access.
