I run all my heads through this (slanted) cabinet: Engl Fireball, Marshall JCM 800 2203 and most important, the Hughes & Kettner TriAmp Mk. II.

I owned an Engl 4x12'' Vintage Cabinet before, but it was stolen. Then I went out and finally bought the "fitting" cabinet for my TriAmp...and it sounded far greater than I expected (bought it without hearing it before!).

I tested them all: Marshall, Rivera, Mesa/Boogie, Framus, Engl and not just one of each - every model I came across. The Hughes & Kettner beats them all soundwise. One can describe the sound as "agressive, but cultivated". Maybe for some "British rockers" the sound lacks some edge (then get an Engl or Marshall Vintage). But I have to say that this 4x12'' isn't just designed with the TriAmp in mind. You can use any head with this one and every single one will sound great.

I'd run any amp through one of these cabinets, heads, combos, whatever!

If you can't rely on a 4x12'' then...well...

Customer Support : No Opinion
I never needed to contact Hughes & Kettner. Since I own three Hughes & Kettner amps (two combos and one head), this is quite self-explaining...

Overall Rating : 10
Sure it's expensive. But as I said: If you compare them to Mesa/Boogie Rectifier cabinets (or any other with the same price), Hughes & Kettner will always win (they also produce a WA 30 cabinet which is a bit taller than mine - if you need extra bottom end). They're worth every cent!

The only thing you might wish after playing this one is buying a Hughes & Kettner 4x12'' with Greenbacks (which I'll certainly do soon)... :-)

This cabinet was made late 2005. It is a 4x12 slant cabinet with Celestion Vintage 30's. This particular model is the ALSS or CC412SE (ALex Lifeson Signature Series, Special Edition). It has the Dragon Tolex on the outside to match the Lifeson Triamp Head. It has capable 4,8,or 16 ohm. The jack housing on the back are slanted into the cabinet making for a secure fit and little to no chance of the speaker cable being accidentally pulled out.

I use Gibson custom shop guitars. This cabinet is hand-made in Germany using very high quality wood which is actually lighter than an equivalent Marshall cabinet. The inside of the cabinet is also acoustically designed with baffels properly placed to maximize the sound of the cabinet. All joints are dove-tailed wood joints. Thus, the back sits snuggly in place with no chance for unwelcomed vibrations. Vintage 30's. What can I say. They are awesome speakers. Smaller diaphram yields larger cone space thus yields very warm natural speaker break up at just the right poing. Tight bass and great range of highs and mids. Sounds like a Greenback with greater power handling. The G12-T75's in the Marshall were just too harsh and for the price of a 1936 Marshall, why not get a better built cab built to hold the H&K head??

Reliability : 10
It is built like a tank. But it is heavy as most 4x12's are. However, it is lighter than the Marshall 1960A that I had before.

The best Jerry, the best. They go out of their way to make things right. I think now that H&K USA is being managed by Pearl Drums, they have made great strides in allowing H7K to be better serviced in the U.S.

Playing for over 25 years. I own Gibson, Ibanez, Line 6, Rocktron, T.C.Electronics, Ernie Ball, and Boss. This is a guitar cabinet. There is not much else to say. However, this cabinet sounds awesome. I tried it next to the equivalent Marshall and this one just seemed to be more organic, you could really hear the speakers. I love this set up> Gibson Les Paul Custom Peter Frampton or Gibson CS356> Boss NS-2 Noise Gate>Boss TU-2 Tuner> Ernie Ball Volume>H&K Triamp MKII Alex Lifeson>T.C.Electronics G-Major (another Ernie Ball volume as expression pedal)>H&K CC412ALSS>all controlled via MIDI with Rocktron MIDI Mate. All Mogami cables. Fantastic sound! Gave it a 9 because damn this rig was expesive!
