Mine is a 2002. Same features as everyone else: 2 channels, etc, etc. I use it for playing mostly progressive rock, metal, and folk rock. The RCA's come in handy for practicing, although volume and EQ controls for the clean channel would have been nice. I love the reverb though, it sounds great at low settings.

Sound Quality : 8
I play my beat-up Ibanez RG450 into the H&K. I fell in love with this amp in the store, and once I got it home I found even more sounds to play with. This amp can do ultra-clean sounds, but also can distort a bit on the clean channel. I love finger-picking on the clean channel with the gain up (think "Sultans of Swing"). The distortion is pretty good as well, also I can quite get a Bryan Adams crunch out of it. I usually play with the gain set higher though (2 o'clock), so it's no big deal.

Reliability : 10
I've gigged many times with this amp, and I've recorded with it as well (dangle a 57 in front of this thing, and you won't be disappointed). It's been tossed around quite a bit, and there's only one visible scratch on the finish. This feels solidly built, and has never needed to be serviced. Great construction.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never needed support.

Overall Rating : 9
This amp sounds great. If it was stolen, I'd probably go for another H&K, but probably a more higher-end model now that my playing has improved considerably.

Read the countless other reviews, its very basic, but then it is a basic amp, at a low price.

Sound Quality : 8
I have a '95, '96 US standard strats, & an Ibanez SQ520M, I must say this amp really lets the sound of the individual guitars through. I play marshalls, peaveys, fenders, & vox, sometimes the sound through these can be 'coloured' this means the circuitry has an effect on the sound that you hear, with the Edition Silver this colouration is minimised. I find the distortion to be superb, I?ve had 3 independent rock records released & with that experience in mind, I think this practice amp is fantastic value & sounds great, however, in a live practice environment it will be drowned out by your drummer & lead guitarist, be sure to match your guitar rig with your bands equipment, I found myself shrinking into the back-ground at a few sessions with this thing, its no beast but its beautiful for practice & jamming along to your hi-fi. The reverb is weak, in that a rack mounted unit would suit most rather than the onboard unit, but again for value this thing ROCKS.

Reliability : 10
I've had this for about 2 years, no problems, other than it makes a big booming noise each time I turn it off, this is some transformer issue, no effect on anything though?

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 10
I really like this amp, okay so its not big enough to gig with being a 1x12" wiht 50W. BUT, I will fork-out for a 100W H&K because I think this amp is superb, seriously, as practice amps go this one is great value & sounds excellent. At this price it represents fantastic value, oh yeah- this one is aimed at those who dont want an amp ful of dodgy effects, I had a cyber-twin it was a ton of rubbish (really.)

I bought the amp in 2003. It has a 12'' Celeston speaker, one clean and one distorted channel, capability for a footswitch (not included) separate volume controls for clean and distorted channel to match the volume, reverb, a three channel equalizer and a lead volume. Furthermore it has a line in and out plug for a connection to an external effects box (not included), or recording equipment and an auxilliary input for an external CD player or tape recorder and a headphone jack that mutes the speaker. I use the last two features quite extensively. The CD input is very nice for practicing to prerecorded music or to practice songs that require more than one guitar. For the later one can record one voice first via the lineout jack and than use it as a playback when practicing the second voice. This is a realy nice feature if one prctices alone a lot.

I have a family and therfore often get to practice only late at night. The headphone jack is very nice such late practice but the sound can not be compared to the sound you get through the Celeston speaker (eventhough with good headphones).

What is nice about the clean channel is that it mimics a valve behaivior. For large gain setings the clean channel generates a soft distortion which is very nice for Jazz style music. Together with the lead volume the clean and distorted channel offer you the full range of soft to heavy distortion. Only the footswitch is missing to give it a perfect score here.

Sound Quality : 10
I play an Epiphone Les Paul Custom with Humbucker pickups. I only play now for two years and have just switched from a coutry style acustic guitar to an electric guitar. I therfore still play a lot of finger pick style musik and try to extend my repertoire to jazz. The clean channel with small gain sounds great for classical or western style musik with the neck pickup of the Les Paul (switch in Rythm position). For the Jazz licks I still use the clean channel but with a larger gain (ca 60%). This produces a soft distorion which is very nice for Jazz. Here I use the bridge pickup on the Les Paul (switch in Treble position). In addition I play some Rock (Rolling Stones type) and Pop (Avril Lavigne style) where prefer the distorted channel with a low gain and both pickups on the Les Paul.

For all settings the sound of the Celeston speaker is fabulous. In fact this is the main reason for writing this review. Eventhough this is a solid state amp is has a very nice warm sound for all settings. I can realy recomend it and the volume is certainly sufficient for practice and small giggs.

Reliability : No Opinion
Never had a problem but my amp is only three month old.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with them.

Overall Rating : 10
For the price of 250 Euros I think this is quite a spectacular amp. Off curse it does not reach the same depth and sound quality as a full valve. But do not forget that the price for a full valve amp starts at 1000 Euros. Therfore for the price / quality ratio I give it a 10.

Solid state 1x12 50 watt guitar amp with one clean channel and one distortion channel. The amp has a master volume and a lead volume.
it also has a left and right cd input. and an output for pedals,or
recording. The CD output is better than the Marshall avt series.

Sound Quality : 10
Im using this amp with a Gibson SG and a USA Fender Heavy Metal Strat
both with humbuckers. The amp suits my style perfectly. I like to play old rock n roll such as AC/DC, Zepplin, and some older blues licks.
Now down to business, first of all I dont know what the some of the other reviews are talking about when they refer to this amp as cheap. the cabintet is built like a Tank and it is equipped with a
12" Celestion g-12h speaker which cost about $120.00 retail by itself. The knobs are just about indestructable and the cd input is
controllable by volume, tone etc.
Other amps I have played side by side with the HK and it has totally
smoked for tone, gain, bottom end etc.
1. Rocktron Replitone
2. Line 6 Ax2
3. Marshall avt 50 valvestate (sold with a tiwan 12" speaker)
4. any Kustom amp sold
the only thing I dont like about the amp is the little bit of gain
on the clean channel. It cant be gotten rid of. the avt marshall is
a little better on the clean channel and thats about the only amp Ive
seen that comes close to the HK.

Reliability : 10
Ive had the HK for 2 years and havent had "any" trouble with it period. The German construction far exceeds anything made in this country hands down. I checked with the sales rep. when I bought the amp and there are may warranty centers in the US that repair the HK.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had any need to contact customer support (in two years). this amp is played daily.

Overall Rating : 9
Im 40 and have been playing since 1977 and my main amp is a Marshall
dual super lead jcm 2000. If it were lost or stolen Id buy another one fast because it and my Zoom pedal are my main practice tools.
If it had a little better clean channel it would be the perfect practice amp.

I think this Amp (was my first) is a very nice Practice Amp!

Sound Quality : 8
if you play some ballads or so where you havn't to overdriveor use any other FX the Amp gives you a soft original sound.
i liked the Volume Control (not the Gain!!!!)
if you took it on 10 it sounded a littlebit crunchy!
the Gain itself was the greatest f... ever seen*lol*
and the physical-Reverb made strange noises when playing in the deeper areas.

Reliability : 6
OK ist really a cheap Amp so...
the Reverb broke about 3 Month after buying
and the whole metal used for the Amp vibrates if you want to play loud!

Customer Support : 10

Overall Rating : 9
if you use it for practice-->buy it!

built in 98 or 99 i guess, and solid-state, 50w.
i play from clean/crunch emo to low-gain rock and punk to hi-gain metal oder hardcore, but to know how i get my sound check sound.
for this price, it's great. was my first guitar amp ever. it's got clean volume, drive gain+vol, 3-bd-eq, reverb, master + cd input.
so for the money and as a stater or practiseamp, it's fine.

Sound Quality : 5
i use a gibson SG and an epiphone LP along with a korg multi and a visual sound jekyll&hyde dual overdrive.
i deal with sound from clean to max-shred-metal (see above), but this is not an amp to really distort your guitar.
only thing that is unique on this amp is the slightly crunchy clean-sound you can get when you set the clean-volume knob all way up to the 10 and then turn master up to you favorite volume. this sound is pretty fine (still solid state), and it's even got a bit warmth. i mostly play this one clean with my pedals, and it's fine. i found the eq surprisingly effective on my sound (turning bass to 3-4 o'clock, mid and treb to 10-11), and the option to use either the really clean sound or the slightly crunched (see above) makes it good for pedal use.
the amp's second, distorted, channel sucks. it's pretty weak, munchy, maybe a bit useful for grunge or something like that, but nothing more. turned all the way up, and with a good guitar/pickup, you might find this sound pretty good, but since i heard engls and boogies i know it sucks (and not just in comparison to them).

Reliability : 10
have had it for 3 1/2 years, nothing broke, never let me down (no gigging though). 10 points on that from me.

Customer Support : No Opinion
no problems, no contact.

Overall Rating : 8
not all too bad sounding, good with pedals, distortion channel sucks.
overall i give this one an 8, cause at this price, this is a good starter amp.

check http://calledandseenas.de.vu to hear seven songs with guitar sound played on the edition silver!! (the demo-2002 songs)

BE CRITICAL! Nothing is perfect.

It's all said about this product from the other reviewers.

I wish it had a small effect unit on board...

Again, be Critical! Nothing is perfect.

In this price range (290EURO) it sounds good.

In this price class it sounds as good as the Behringer AC112, but the AC112 has more features like a superb effect unit.

Fabricated in 99'. All solid state with a small spring reverb. All the basics are provided. Pre Vol for CLEAN, Gain & Master for LEAD, 3 Band EQ, Reverb, Master Vol, Input, Line IN & Out, Footswitch, Headphones and two RCA's on the back for CD input which I don't use. I play Progressive Rock (old and new) and some blues for the most part. I don't really gig anymore and so use at home only.

Sound Quality : 10
I love the sound this inexpensive amp provides. Even at low volumes it still sounds great in my opinion. I use it primarily with a PRS CE24 and Am Std Strat fitted with Gold Lace Sensors. I think the amp reacts to the PRS just a bit better, perhaps due to the humbuckers. I have used it with P-90's and was NOT impressed at all. The amp circuitry has a way of making odd cords and harmonics sound gooood!

Reliability : 7
The cabinet is built El-Cheap-o folks. Style without substance to phrase a quote. It's made of 1/2" particle board and wooden dowels. Then, the whole cabinet is sprayed with what looks like a high end truck bed liner, which when dry looks quite nice. Do NOT expect it to hold up to an environment wich bumps it around a lot, i.e. continuous gigging. Let us remind ourselves here, this is not a high end amp cost wise either. I know all this because I have already had to repair the cabinet due to an accident. Hopefully the electronics are better. No problems there so far.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No clue, as I haven't tried to have it serviced.

Overall Rating : 9
I have been playing for 30+ yrs. Embarrased to say how many guitars and amps I have owned over the years and didn't deserve them. If it were lost or stolen, I think I would spend the money on the higher ended Pure Tone instead. Only because the Pure Tome is built with a higher grade cabinet and hardware. I also wish the reverb has a bit more depth. Overall however, it's a 50w amp that is tough to beat for the price. It sure is nice to be able to play guitar-cord-amp only for a change and really like the sound.

Made in 2000, will do any thing I need it to do in small venues (even gigging). Dual channel, clean/OD, fx loop, headphone jack, rc channels. I like it like it is, if I wanted an EQ. in it I would have bought another amp. If you can find one of these for $300/350.00 buy it.

Sound Quality : 10
I play mostly top 40's rock, blues, no Limp Korn or other non music. Suits my style to the T, can dial in anything I want, clean, crunch etc:

Reliability : 10
Like everybody else says, this thing is built like a tank and only weighs 33 lbs. I would do small gigs with it without a backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
N/A. I have had it for 6 months. I use it every day and have had no problem with it.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing almost as long as Fender has been around. I am down to a Fender Texas Special and a 1961 Guild T-100 with the original P-90. I also play bass but thats another story and gear subject. I am currently using the H&K with a Fender SFX Satellite. I have owned and sold over 20, just Fender amps, in my time, still think they are the best sound. This little amp will stand up to any Fender amp for sound, expression, diversity and so far dependibility in the under $500.00 range. I would definately replace this amp or go with a bigger H&K. Go AB one next to the same price amps from any manufacture.

My amp is used, but just about 5 month old and barely played on. It has 2 channels (clean and lead), line in/out, you can use a footswitch for switching between the channels and of course there is a headphonejack. On the backside is a cd-input (RCA).
There are several knobs: Clean Volume, Lead Gain, Lead Volume, Trebble, Mids, Bass, Reverb, Master Volume. It would have been nice to have seperate EQ-knobs for each channel, but I use a multi-fx-pedal (Boss ME-30), so it's not really an issue for me.
The amp has 50W and a 12" Celestion Junior speaker. Lot's of power for my needs.

Sound Quality : 10
I play a Squier Strat. One of the older models, when Squier made fine guitars, not the crap the sell nowadays. I play different styles, ranging from clean country like sounds to heavier stuff like Whitesnake/Metallica and a lot in between. As stated before I use a fx-pedal and now I finally get the sounds I always wanted. When I used it with my former amp (VMI - the animal- AG-3010-R)I always thought the pedal was a piece-o-junk. But now I know it was the amp that was the weakest link in my effectchain. The clean channel is great. It stays clean at high volumes, at max volume it has a nice slightly distorted tone.

Reliability : 10
Just have it for almst a week. Have been playing intensively and did a gig last saturday and I (again) was amazed of the power and the sounds. So it hasn't broken down, but I don't suspect it ever will. It's a solid amp.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Dunno. (Yet?)

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for about 6-7 years now. Just acoustic at first, for about 5 years electric guitar. Got my guitar with a Squier practice amp (15W) which sounds horrible. The played on this VMI-amp. BTW: Never found any info on this VMI amp, or VMI in general. I think it was a 30W amp, but the sound was not impressing.
If this amp were stolen or lost, I definetly would look for the same amp again or maybe a bigger one. Depending on my budget.
