This amp has 2 channels, clean and lead. clean volume, lead gain and volume, shared EQ, spring reverb on it and at last a master volume.
you got a headphone out, pedal input, and effectsloop in the front, which I actually like, cause I don't use racks or stuff, just stompboxes, so I can put my delay there.
It's kind of a pitty that they don't have seperated EQ, cause when you have a nice clean sound, the lead sound sucks with the same EQ.
With this 60? watt it's enough powerfor the some smaller gigs, but when you're playing a bigger gig, you'll probably have microphones for your amp.

This amp has one of the nicest clean tones you can imagine from a solid state amp. I just went to a musicstore, trying out a marshall and I realised that the H&K still has a nicer clean sound, from warm jazz to blues with a bell. Hmmm, just delicious.
The lead channel is a bit of a dissapointment after the clean one. Just try to get a crunch, almost impossible. You get directly a simple bassy distortion without definition. Certainly no metal with this one!
so minus one for the lead, but the clean channel makes it ok.

this amp is from my father, I think somewhere in the seventies and it still looks new, never had any problems with it. although, now i started to use it, there occured some stratches somehow..
recently the input-ring fell of the amp, cause the amp fell on his side.

actually it should have a 8.5, because of the lacking distortion, but the marvellous clean just makes it all fine for me, I just use a boss OD-2 for the distortion, ibanez delay,a gibson and I got basicly everything I need.

I'd eyed this amp since 99, and I bought it in 2000. I also bought a switch from Morley (cuz I live 2 minutes from their factory in Cary IL). Though I never use it. The distortion is useless. Just plain useless. I use this in a recording studio and some of the metal heads try and switch it on and they shudder. The clean, however, really does make up for it. The EQ is alright. They could have chosen better EQ curves. The reverb is very natural, great feature of the amp.

I use the amp, when playing myself, with a one-off guitar that I bought at the same place I bought the amp, so I can't give you any relative idea. But hell, this amp... people are jealous of me. Often people in the studio opt-out of their thousand dollar+ amp rig to use the amazing sounds of the Metroverb's clean. I'm also frequently loaning this out for friends to play it at clubs and places of worship. The clean, THE CLEAN! They could have simplified this amp and made it single channel. The CLEAN is all you need. My friends are confused as to how this thing isn't tube. Must be JFET amplifiers. I am actually looking to buy another one of these amps.
The spring reverb is highly acceptable. Doesn't really go up to a wishy washy level, but this offers great control on dialing in the reverb it does have. And I've gotten some pretty spacey Godspeed You Black Emperor sounds out of here.
Ignore the "lead" channel. If you need more than this amp offers, get an outboard pedal. Honestly I've worked with many professionals, and they hardly ever use onboard distortion, and this amp offers a rare great sounding crunch, so yr already ahead.

I use this at gigs and it holds it's own. It's always getting thrown around in the trunk of my car and all it has is a few scratches and dents. The cloth is still intact and feels like it's pretty damned hard to tear. All the logos and silkscreens are perfectly fine, and I really f-in abuse this thing sometimes. I rarely have to turn the master above half when crunchin, and only then does the amp start to generate heat, but when it does, the back panel just about burns my hand.
This amp holds it's own in just about all catagories.

I would like to buy another one of these actually, to have one for the studio (or run stereo), and one for gigs. I would cry if anything happens to this amp (yet I admit I do lovingly abuse it). Of any other tube or solid state amp in the sub 500 dollar range, none compare to the Metroverb. BANG FOR BUCK.

Made in 1998. 2 footswitchable channels: Clean and Lead. Spring reverb(courtesy of a little tank mounted at the top of the cabinet). Headphone, line in and line out jacks. Global 3-band eq. Excellent rock and blues amp.

I use a Les Paul and a Telecaster with this amp. With humbuckers or single-coils the amp sounds great. The clean channel is warm and lively, and puts out a musical, tweed-like breakup when cranked. The dirty side is cool too, but it's very high-strung: with the gain knob on 3, the distortion's already into hard rock territory. BUT, this channel is incredibly dynamic. I get fat, toothy clean tones by putting the gain at 4, maxing out the dirty channel's volume, and rolling back the volume on my guitar. The 3-band eq doesn't affect the tone much; fortunately, the amp's overall voice is fine, though it could use a tad more midrange. The reverb is good, but it won't do early-'60s surf music. This amp has just enough oomph for club jams, as long as the drummer present does not try to channel John Bonham or Keith Moon.

Only problem I've ever had is an overall volume drop after using the line-in jack sometimes. After a few minutes with nothing plugged into that jack, the amp's full output returned. Weird. Other than that, no problems. I've had the amp for 2 years, and it's been to many jam nights in clubs. I take really good care of my gear, though.

I've been playing 19 years. I like this amp's compactness and relatively light weight(33 lbs.). I also own a Fender Blues Junior and a Tech21 Trademark 60, and the Metroverb holds its own pretty well. When dialed in right, it can fool some tube-amp heads into thinking it's a tube rig. My only wish is that it had a bit more power, say another 10 watts.

First, I'd like to say I'm brazilian and finally bought something cheaper than you... In dollars, my metroverb costed about $280! Now, lets review it
I guess it's a 2002 amp, but I bought it in 2003. It is a bit versatile, w/ effects loop and all that stuff... I think it's more then enough for me. 2 footswichable channels (no footswich included, damn), headphone jack.. I usually use this amp playing with my brother, wich is a drummer, and it's loud enough.... Actually I don't need to use half of it's power :) Oh yeah, I forgot one thing... It really should be stereo, or have at least a stereo output... The line in gets a terrible mono sound when you put your discman/cassete in it... But It's more than I should expect...

I play with an Epiphone SG, and the clean channel get's a little crunchy, because of the hambuckers... All I need to do to get that beautiful clean channel is turning the guitar volume's knobs a little down... Man... Great sound, in both channels.. You can play Red Hot Chilli Peppers to Black Sabbath... Even getting a bit crunchy, if I turn down the guitar volume's knobs, the clean channel doesn't distort at any volume at all... Perfect!

It never needed repairs, but even before the amp gat here I e-mailed the company about somethings I wanted to know and they were very kind... Then I e-mailed again because of the crunchy hambuckers sound, and they told me what to do! I don't remember how long the warranty is, but I hope I won't need it.

I've just been playing for one year, so I don't understand very much.... Anyway, I think my metroverb is just perfect... I don't know if I'd buy this one again if it were stolen... I think I'd save money to buy an all-tube amp, probably a Hughes & Kettner again... But for this price I'd obviously buy this one again... I just wish the footswich were included... Anyway... PERFECT :)

Two channels: clean and overdrive. High quality solid state pre-amp, quite good reverb, three bands EQ. This EQ has a lot of presence and impact over the final sound.
Clean channel is, in my opinion, as good as other users say: very chromatic and colorfull.
Overdrive channel is well balanced: sound come generosously to be modulated in your hand, and you have a very power bass notes and also very chromatic treble ones. For me (i have never enough saturation), this is fine.
The only matter is, in my opinion, the output is not stereo, which would have been quite interesting ....

This is a very versatile amp. Playing with the pre-amp gain and the EQ buttons (specially the MIDs one) you can play almost everything, from blues or r'n'r B.B. King kind, to Satriani or Vai styles.
It is true it has a lot of feed back, even at low volume .... but that's fine, what the hell ...!

The Metroverb was made in St.Wendels, Yermani. Its a solid state with a clean channel and lead channel with its own EQs. The distortion is muddy but the Clean channel really makes up for it. Lead channel also gives you a static noise when the master volume is pumped up. The clean channel sounds Vintage when turned over midway its nice.

I'm using a Neck-thru Asassin with stock pickups and it sounds kool with the amp. The clean channel is phat but the lead channel is too noisy when the master volume is high. Sounds were made for like punk-crap.

Been playing on and off for 2 years (I suck) but thats not the point....the point is the Metroverb is an overall great amp that I would reommend for anyone. The lead channel can be replaced with a distortion pedal. But the koolest thing about the amp is that you can use your distortion pedal with the clean so its easier to switch form distortion to clean. Pretty awesome. This amp rocks~!

I'm using a Gibson Les Paul Studio and it's sounds really good with this amps. The lead channel is amazing for me, Is perfect for solos and it has the most inproved valve emulated tone I've ever heard but I don't like the way that it sounds for rythm (too much bass)
I like clean channel too I thimk it's more than OK

ok, it took a while for me to get an unbelievable sound out of this amp. i really never spent much time trying until recently
i must say, this amp sounds closer to a TUBE tone than any solid state i've ever had and sounds better than a lot of tube amps i've had.
ok, this is the secret, CLEAN CHANNEL !!!
1. volume cranked
2. master on 12 o'clock
3. mid off, treble at 2:00 and bass on 4:00
4. reverb 1:00
5 delay
6 maybe some compression, slightly
Now, i play my peavey patriot with this amp and get the best sound i've ever gotten. i know what your thinken... a peavey patriot ??
well yeah... its got those P-90 type pickups
this dam guitar sounds better than my carvins, PRS, fenders
NO JOKE
now, to get more bite
1. clean channel
2. use a OD pedal, with just a touch of OD
3. Volume on the metro at 9:00
4. master on 12:00
5. no mid, treble at 3:00 and bass at 5:00
6: reverb at 1:00
7. delay pedal
OOOOOOOOO what a BLUES tone !!!!!

this is a new amp. the options for this amp are described below from others. it basically has a clean and overdrive. has a nice reverb and a input/output jack.
Sound Quality
:

ok, i'm going to sum this up and i wish more people would do the same.
1. Reverb is pretty good
2. the clean channel is really nice and provides a pretty impressive tube sound for being solidstate. the clean is the main reason why i bought the amp. Also, you can overdrive the clean channel somewhat, which is good.
3. the distorsion on this amp is TOOOOOOO distorted. it only sounds good through a humbucker pickup (bridge) and the distorsion cranked with no reverb and lots of treble, some bass and no mid. i tink hughes could of mellowed some on this distorsion channel.
4. there's plenty of volume from this amp for small gigs.
5. i like the option for a input and out jack on this amp.
6. the amp is leight weight

I'm not sure when it was made but I guess it's new. I bought it in October 1999. It has a volume for clean, volume for gain, mid, bass, treb, master volume and reverb controls. has an input, line in, line out and headphone jacks.
It's a brilliant amp for practicing at lower volumes and is just weak for perfomance etc. but it's not made for that purpose anyway..

It sounds excellent with single coils, really clean and pure sound.
* I mostly play my own tunes (funk/grunge) sort of a mixture of Nirvana and Red Hot Chili Peppers with some modern 'KoRn style' sounds.
* It's noisy at all when using the clean channel and remains like that even on maximum volume/master. The gain channel is quite or even very noisy, depends on the pickups and etc.
* I love the clean channel - sounds pure, has a large variety and even a vintage feel. The gain is quite muddy, but has a very original, vintage like tone - so it's not definately a bad thing.

i've been playing guitar 2.5 years and this is my first amp that i own. I've tried a number of amps inc. various Marshalls, Fenders etc.
I own a squier jagmaster (awsome guitar!) and play directly to the amp. I also own a zoom 1010 effect box which sounds really electronic and cheap and spoils my sound, and I don't like it.
what I love about this amp is it's variety of sounds it can produce. So other equipment (guitars, effects etc) play a big role. it's quite
"sensitive". I compared it to some Marshalls and Fenders and just could not find the tone I like. When I found the MetroVerb it was perfect, it had an original tone.
If were stolen of lost, I'd probably go check out some more powerful amps by Hughes&Kettner, maybe the Attax series cuz I need an amp for the bandroom and gigs anyway. But for home pratice i'd buy metroverb or clubverb.
Overall it's a great amp!
