I bought this amp last year brand new. As stated by others has 2 input channels, 2 effects loops, mic input, balanced DI output (this is excellent for recording) and reverb and contour. I have used this amp for both recording and performing. Its not the loudest thing on the planet but for acoustic guitar its pretty damn good.

Sound Quality : 10
I use a maton Em225c thru a Jim Dunlop 535Q and it sounds beautiful. We play a range of fingerstyle to rock music and this amp is very versatile. It can be a little noisy when amped right up but its not too bad. Even when cranked right up this thing still deosn't distort. I've even tried distorion pedals, flanges etc and it still sounds great. It has the cleanest warmest sound i've ever heard from an acoustic amp.
I looked at heaps of amps before I bought this one, and have never regretted it.

Reliability : 10
I have never had a problem with this amp yet, but I have only gigged it a couple of times, but I can't see any reasons why it wouldn't work.

never used it

I have been playing for last 5 years and only play acoustic. My other guitar is takamine acoustic/electric and it sounds awesome through it as well. For any one that plays acoustic and wants a really warm sound that can handle effects as well, this is your amp.

I bought this amp for accoustic gutiars two years ago. It is not longer in production but H&K think about to put it in to production again in November 2002 if there are enough orders for it.
It has two inputs, one for piezo pickups and one for magnetic ones, two(!) effect loops - one serial and one parallel, build in spring reverb and a semi parametric equalizer with additional contour control. Additionaly it comes with a headphone jack, a balanced XLR output and a XLR input for a microphone. There is no equalizer for the mic, only a volume control. It has an build in non adjustable limiter too.
The amp has got a two way speaker system with a normal 12" speaker and a tweeter for the high range. It is a mono solid state straight forward amp.
The only thing I am missing on this amp is a switchable good sounding chorus.
I use this amp for gigs in clubs and pubs, sometimes with a mic through the dedicated input (see above). I play everything from Folk-Pop to Rock.

Most of the time I use a Epiphone Chet Atkins SST. I replaced the origianal PU with a Fishman Acoustic Matrix Natural I System. The sound variations of this amp are very limited. There are about two or three difrent USEFULL sounds you can get out of this amp. But these ones are great and work excellent for me. You can do fingersyle as good as you can strumming your guitar very hard. There is no distortion at all even if you crank it up to 12!

I've used this amp very often and hard. Most of the time at the limit of its power and never had have any problems till a few weeks ago. I'd bought a zoom 504II for acoustic guitar and uesd it the same evening for a gig. And this damm litte thing blew my tweeter away. It has so much highs, that the tweeter couldn't stand it. Ok, I think this was my mistake :( But this is the Reason for only a 9 in this category.

Customer Support : 10
Great. As I asked for a new tweeter via email the answer came only a few minutes (!) later and another few minutes later I had ordered the tweeter.

I'm playing guitar (electric and acoutsic) for almost 20 years know. I own several guitars high end and economical stuff. Over the years I played almost everything new and vintage (at that point a big thanks to my dealer ;)).
If it were stolen or broken I would buy another amp from AER. This are the best sounding amps for acoustic guitar I've ever heard. But they are very expensiv and since the H&K will last till I die it maybe never happen.
I compared this amp direct with a Fender , a Marshall and several other acoustic amp. But for this price it's the best sounding amp I think.

The amp has 2 guitar inputs (high & low), a contour setting, an equalizer with four bands , a reverb, an headphone input, an mike input and an output for the PA. I wanted to use it mainly to practice
at home.(I have an Ovation Custom Legend).

The sound WAS OK when it was working (for 2 hours). I bought it this afternoon and 2 hours later it was already out of order! So I will return it to the shop tomorrow and try to have my money back.
