Got the pcs50 transistor combo for a birthday in 1992 i think. I have played all sorts of music with it. Dist. and clean channels. Foot switch was included. Preshape and boost switches. Head phones jack. But you have to go easy on the bass knob though. Would do nicely at small gig. Easy to use amp. Distortion sucks tough. Thin and rough. Sounds like ther's something covering the speaker. 12'' speaker and tube. Speaker out 80 watts into 8 ohms, 100 w into 4 ohms. Character out with knob. Effect send and return. All jacks.

Used amp with strat. With the clean sound it has and your favorite effect pedal, this amp may be used for any style of music. Low noise. This amp can play allot louder with better speakers plugged in. Distorts when bass knob is turned 1/4 with the 12'' in the combo. Grate sound quality at lower volumes. I played it with drum kit in the room, and it is loud enough. Great for recording and live at smaller gigs miced up. Used it mostly for practice at home.

Dependable amp. Never broken. Dropped it many times when carried. Solid wood box.

Never used support. H & K web site offers little help on old products.

Played it for 16 years. With jap strat. Good times. Love the design. Still modern looking. Really heavy for its size though.

Rackversion of the PCS50, features are identical to the combo-version. Bought used, possibly late 80s, seems to be quiet rare as I have seen a unit like this only once on Ebay...

Tried different guitars on this one. Very nice clean sound. The distortion channel sounds nice for a trans-amp, but tends to get really noisy at higher gain-levels. The sound is not heavy, more warm and singing - like they've tried to build a solid-state version of the cream-machine.
I used the amp in combination with my old alesis quadraverb gt, so i only needed the clean channel (distortion from the alesis).

Hell, this piece is solid like a rock. Even dropped it a few times accidently while doing changes to my rack-setup. You can definitely use it without any backup.

Never had contact to H&K (the things I own from them are all still working). Seems to me as they don't really give a damn about older products as they have absolutely no information about former amps, cabs and stuff on their homepage. Many companies are doing better...

This amp was used as my main amp for several years before I switched to my new racksystem. I then continued to use it three years as a backup and a lightweight alternative for smaller gigs. I meantime sold the amp...
