I bought this in 1983 in Germany along with an Ibanez Roadstar2 guitar. A single channel amp with an overdrive switch, low, parametric, and high EQ, and reverb. Preamp out and main in (effects loop). Nice rugged box with plastic corners and a good handle i have taken off and put back on 30 times or so, depending on home use or out.

I ()and others) have used this with a wide variety of guitars.
You can get any clean tone a guitar can produce. The overdrive does not get very distorted , even with hot humbuckers, but sounds nice.
Clean sound can get very loud, and the whole cabinet sounds very good when played loud (no bad vibrations & the speaker does not yelp like a dog hit by a car). With medium OD it really sings.
This amp can not do heavy distortion on its own, but has the foundation (speaker & box) to handle a lot.

The only things i have had to do on this amp is to replace the "low" input jack (it broke from being hit while a plug was in it) and clean the pots not long ago.
When i came back to the USA, I added a converting transformer (sold in Germany, the power supply was designed for 240V) That added weight and made the reverb hum, so i turned the reverb tank. Then i began to use external boxes for reverb and effects, so I can't even judge the reverb now~

I have been playing (fiddling) with guitar for over 20 years, and not that well, but i have messed with lots of gear, rebuilding guitars and modding gear.
If it was lost or stolen, i would try to find another, but that is for nostalgia. There are plenty of other amps that perform as well at this price point with more features these days.
Features such as: LEDs on the footswitch (so i added them myself -heheh) I wish it had an external speaker jack (so I added).
I almost wish i had bought the GX 100 - That had 2 channels (seperate volumes but shared EQ) and the footswitch also had a parametric EQ switch, and switches for the TWO effects loops! and LEDs, too... but i think only on the amp and not the footswitch?)

This amp is old, don't know how old, but it is brown instead of the usual black, so it must be really old.
It's definately more versatile than any other amp I've ever played. It has a bass/mid/mid-frequency/high eq which makes it possible to change your sound very easily. It's loud enough to be heard by the drummer and light enough to carry in public transportation with your guitar and other gear.
I use this amp for playing jazz, rock and metal. In every style it serves me perfectly. I play this amp with a Charvel (mostly with a Boss metal zone pedal), a Cort S2800 (mostly jazz and blues) and a Danelectro V2 (pop and rock).

The sound is crystal clear but with every bit of definition you want. It's clean, but not squeeky. It's warm, but not woozy. The distortion is okay for rock and blues, but not quite what I need for playing metal.

I bought this amp second hand (hey, I'm not that old!) a week ago and played a gig with it the same day. I've had no trouble with it so far. He looks reliable and there are no special features on it that make it more vulnerable than normal. Since it's such an oldy, I guess it's good quality (which you might expect from Ibanez).

Some previous owner had a special output installed on the back to use it with a stack. This was done by a local shop ("this is a decent town and a local shop, there's nothing for you here" LOG haha).
I think Ibanez must be having a customer support somewhere and the japanese guy who assembled this fine peace of equipment hopefully did his work well so I don't need it.

Great amp! If you ever spot one, buy it!! Who needs a mod (like a line6 or vox) when you have this amp, a nice guitar and some effect pedals? Besides that, it looks great with the vintage brown colour and big knobs.

I'm a part time amp tech, just done up this Ibanez (IBZ) GX60 model 1X12 amp a couple of hours ago. Made in the early 80's, an export model 240V, totally made in japan, even the speaker is original ibz japan one. Should be made in the maxon factory as the name is stamped on the pcb. Despite the age, the sound is still pretty flawless, apart from the just the servicing I did to it, which I only replaced the input jacks, and some resoldering works. Sounds good enough to gig with, suited for rock, heavy metal or blues. It's has pratically all the features of today's amps, 2 inputs, distort control switchable, gain (volume), master volume (pull for bright), 3band eq with mid contour control, reverb control, send-return, footswitch jack for both distort and reverb, headphone jack, ext spk jack. The good thing is that all the front panel jacks are individual mounted be itself. So you can replace with other type with ease. All solid state but does not sounds poor, like other models of the era, I guess is due to it's use of true push-pull output stage instead of quasi complementary type (higher cost for the matched pair transistors). This amp is pretty well engineered, like the roland's jazz chorus line. The reverb is not overly expressive, so if you like tons of reverb, this is not the amp for you.

This amp is dead easy to use, controls are very responsive. The only thing is that if it gets you the sound you want, you'll never part with it. Distortion wise is definately 80ish's diode clipping sound. For metal or other sound, get a pedal.

From the looks of the amp, it'll definately stand up to plenty of abuse, on or off stage. When it came to me, it was already neglected and left in a corner for quite a while (I mean years), noisy pots, ton's of dust. I just did a general service repair and it operated like new again. Would reccomend it for use in live, studio and home too.

Based in Singapore, I started fixing amps about 1yr+ ago, was fixing PC monitors before. I'm constantly coming across old gears to fix from a few dealers, I give this baby quite a good standing in quality built amongst the stuffs I dealt with so far. If the owner were to lost it, I guess he'll just sit at a corner and cry, cuz there aren't many of these out there still in use.
