I'm not sure when this was made, I bought it used. I know it's still in production.
It has a 10" "power jam" speaker, and 25 watts of power. It has a headphone jack and a place to plug in a footswitch.
It has reverb, 3-band EQ (bass, mid, treble), and separate volumes for the clean and overdrive channels, the overdrive channel also having gain adjustment, more or less everything I need. The channel selection is done by a button on the amp.
I wish it had a speaker output, but other than that it's great
I have a 10 by 8 foot room. It is obviously loud enough. It is actually too loud at all but the absolute lowest volume possibly without turning the sound off. 25 watts is plenty for practice or maybe a small gig, I have never had the opertunity to really turn it up, but I suspect it will be LOUD.

As someone else said, this seems to be based off a tube screamer pedal for distortion, or at least sounds somewhat like one. Turn the reverb all the way up, treble to +10, mid and bass both to -1, and gain to 10 on the overdrive channel and it sounds just like Hendrix at Woodstock. Seriously kickass.
The clean channel doesn't distort, although I haven't got it above 5. It actually sounds quite good clean, but I am playing an Ibanez GAX 70, with the world's worst pickups. It sounds like a ukulele through every amp I have played clean for no reason at all. The amp seems fine, though.
One thing that should be noted, and I think this is just because of the higher preamp gain, but I haven't seen it before, is that there is major feedback with overdrive, and no feedback with clean. Even if the guitar is sitting an inch from the face of the amp on clean, there is no feedback. Cheap Ibanez pickups are "mic pickups" and feedback extremely easily, it's strange (not bad, just strange) that this amp makes the feedback go away.
There is a little hiss, but very, very little.

I got this used. For some reason, when you tap the amp with reverb on the amp plays echos like you dropped something in a very large room. No echos when the reverb is off. Last time I checked, amps are not supposed to pick up a sound when you hit/shake them and then apply an effect to it... oh well, it plays brilliantly and was dirt cheap, nothing appears to actually be broken, just really weird.

I haven't been playing for long, only a few months. I am on a tight budget, and this showed up on Craigslist. It turns out it sounds awesome, even if it is paired with the crappiest sounding pickups ever. For the price ($35) it can't be beat. I wish it were a Marshall full stack, but that isn't $35 most of the time. I compared it to my brother's Marlboro 20A amp (ancient, and I can't find any info on it, I think it might be 5-12 watts, tiny practice amp size) and it does sound much better, the Marlboro's clean channel sounds like it's overdrive channel with a tiny bit less gain. The overdrive, in addition to being more variable, is really great compared to "moderate crunch and a lot of signal loss".
If it were stolen, I would get what I could afford. It's a $150 amp new, give or take some, so I probably woudl end up with another one in ters of quality level.
Realisticly, if I had $150 to spend on an amp I would get one that costs $400 new. I only buy used. If another one was availible for $35, though, I would grab it in a moment.

The distortion on this thing is awesome - think Tube Screamer!
The clean channel is flat with the bass, mid, and treble in the indent position - out of the circuit. There's a lot of tones you can get out of this amp. The find the best setting is boosting the bass, mid, and treble a bit.

Great amp for practice, recording, or small combo. For metal or hard rock - get it's big brother. The clean channel has a lot of headroom and the spring reverb is pretty decent. And, the distortion is great - plenty of gain and think - Ibanez Tube Screamer!!!!!!!!!!

Bought the amp 4 years ago, before than I used a super-cheap 6,5" amplifier. Unless I turned my volume on the guitar way down, it was clipping. The TB25 was a great improvement! It has 2 channels, clean and overdrive, with shared EQ. I play pop, rock and hardrock, and it suits all well! It's a versitile amp and the 25 watts are actually loud enough for band-practice (my bandmate's will kill me if I turn it up all the way). So yeah, it is pretty loud.

Nowadays I'm using a PRS Santana SE, a humbucker-guitar, with the Ibanez or with my other amp, a H&K Tube 50. The Ibanez got lots of gain, turning it past 12 'o clock will cause severe loss of definition and sound. But on 12...sounds great! Pinch harmonics just seem to fly out of it. It sings really nice. The clean channel is pretty too. Both channels aren't that special, they don't have much character of their own, but it sounds great at home or with band-practice. Only sounds that won't be in this amp are slightly crunched sounds. I'm giving this an 9, because I feel, for the price, Ibanez has done a great job. I still play the amp frequently, after 4 years of owning it.

Well.....
This is a combo, with the pre and final unit builds with solid state technology. The max power output is 25 watt. It has 2 channels: one for clean sounds and one overdrived. You can find on the frontal part 3 inputs: guitar in, foot switch and phones jack. You can select the channels by a button near the clean volume konob. You have separated volume knobs one for clean and one for overdrive. In the frontal panel you can find the equalization knob: treble, middle and bass.
The speaker is a 10".
To play in a room with the only company of your guitar is good! Low power is a good thing to study!

I play with a Fender Squire Bullet, with three pick up single coil. I play hard rock and some metal Iron style. The amp is not noisy or fuzzy, only my cheap guitar, equipped with a low-cost pick up serie, catch the noise in the air and put it in the amp! The clean sound are very good! You can play rhythm parts and lead parts with any difficult. The sound is warm and cool!!!! Very good things for a cheap amp!
The overdrive channel is not so good like the clean.....is you pump up the gain, especially if you have a single coil pick up, it's noisy! And the sound, when you are playing power chords, is "kneaded" without a good definition. What do you want for $ 100?
You MUST work very hard with the equalization knob every time to obtain a decent overdrived sound. If you set the gain at minimum level, you can obtain a good Frusciante sound! Not bad!

I'm playing this amp for 9 months, and I'm waiting a multi-effects board. The next amp will be a solid state transistor, with a Fender American stratocaster made in USA with Duncan pickup. IRON RULES!
Why don't buy a tube amp? If you want a good valve amp you have to spend less than $ 2000......And with $ 600 you buy a good "transisor", with 100 watt output and 3 channels, for live sessions!
Buy this Ibanez and use it for study: don't worry......is great!

The TB 25R is a very simple amp with 2 channels and a decent Reverb. It is not heavy, it is not too big (it is about full size though for a 1x10 type combo. It has no effects loop but has alot of volume and headroom on the clean channel. It is a very nice solid state combo that a pro can appreciate and a beginner can get a good sound out of and not out grow. I am not giveing it a high rating for features but I think it has the perfect amount and they are all functional for a practicing muscian.

This amplifier is REALLY flat sounding (I mean that in a good way) and does not color your tone unless you want it too. It has a wonderful speaker that sounds very much like a Celestion V10 (what I use in everything else) but I don't think it cost very much and it has a smewhat small magnent. I am a professional musician who plays nights, teaches at two universities and is finishing my graduate work at the same time. All of my small amps were at various schools and I got a call for a cruise ship gig on a weekend. I did not want to drag my Vibroverb (65lbs) or my Bogner head and a 1x12 cab so I went to the corner guitar store to find a decent small amp with headroom. I have a little Digitech RP3 set to give a sound somewhere between Pat Metheny and Mike Stern so I just needed a clean unassuming rig. I generally use only Botique stuff these days so I really had no idea how bad most of the new amps are. It seems to be all about modeling which for the most part sounds like shit to my ears. Yea it is cool in your bedroom but not in a real situation. You know the old addage "you can't polish a turd". Anyway after trying all the Fender, Marshall, Roland, Peavey, and Crate stuff I had just about given up then I saw this cheap little combo in the corner. When I asked about it the salesman said "it can't model anything" so I was now excited. When I plugged in I actually heard my guitar and when I turned it up it didn't fall apart (while that is cool on a tube amp solid state power distortion is not a good thing). I plugged in my RP3, my Heritage Prospect (with 25.5 scale and Buzz Feiten tuning system) and I really liked what I heard. When the salesman said $125 I said I'll take 2. As far as the overdrive channel it is rather juvinile and only if you like Nirvana will you care for it but the clean is great and the active EQ means put everything near 5 and life is good. I can't give it a 10 because that is reserved for the likes ov my Vibroverb or my Bogner Shiva but it gets high marks.

I really like this amp and recomend it to anyone who wants a nice amp that can function for just about anything but could still fit in a Porsche Boxter. It is REALLY quite loud if need be and the tone does not change much from whisper quiet to LOUD. It has similar amout of headroom as my 40 watt tube Vibroverb. It is not as loud but it is just as loud before any breakup occurs. This is a cheap amp you will not outgrow.

2001 or 2002 TB25R. Clean and Distortion channels, basic 3 band EQ, Reverb. Solid State, 25 watts.
I bought this as a inexpensive practice amp, but it ended up being used for jamming with a drummer and bassist.

I was impressed initially by this little amp, playing with a strat and some messing with the EQ I could get some halfway decent clean tones. But where I think these TB amps perform well is their distortion channel. Nice crunchy modern-sounding distortion...its not exactly Marshall-like crunch but for the price range, it sounds pretty damn good. Might sound a little too sterile sounding for you blues guys, though.
I think Ibanez underrates these amps, as it sounds louder than 25 watts with the distortion cranked. A buddy of mine used this amp to regularly jam with a pretty loud drummer and bassist(me) and it was able to cut through pretty well suprisingly.
Also, for such a cheap amp the reverb sounds really great.

Anyways, if you want a reliable practice/jamming amp with good distorted tone for cheap, look into the TB series.

Same as all the others on the page, 25 watt, reverb, overdrive...bought a footswitch for it after a while, but the Ibanez footsw. was really hard to get, it was always sold out and I wanted it badly, so I bought it from some brand called Leem.

My style is very versatile, trying to combine hard rock with slow music. And the amp handles it, more or less. With a good tuned guitar the overdrive is heavenly, but sometimes not deep, 'warm' enough. If you turn the Overdrive-button open completely, you better hold on, cause it blows you away. I actually still don't believe it's only 25 watt. It's my only amp, but I've played others, and this one can really go loud!!! I even use it for my band practice, and I can overpower the drums easily, when volume and gain aren't even halfway!
For the clean sound I'm a bit less excited. It doesn't provide a beautiful warm sound like I would want it. But hey, it's Ibanez! Metal and distortion is their biggest concern! And they've done an excellent job there.
Buzzes sometimes on the low E, or with a (power)chord E(m), and it's not the guitar, I'm shure!

I never experienced any trouble with it playing in the band. Like I said, low E buzzes, but when I turn up the volume it doesn't!!! Weird...
I would rely on it on a gig, but I would rather use something bigger when playing live in front of crowd, although for small gigs, this is an pretty cool amp for no price.

I use an LP style Vantage Ghost with a dimarzio tonezone in the bridge and a PAF pro in the neck. I can get everything from blues to outrageous screaming metal on this thing. Where it really shines is when i mix the dist on this with my TS7, WOW!!!!! I can rival Satriani with it. If you lower the mids and bass you get a real perfect metal/shred lead sound. Good highs. I love the reverb. It's INCREDIBLY loud, i cranked this thing to 5 once and I almost deafened myself, had a lot of feedback but that could be my guitar. At tamer volumes it (with the TS7) it can give a good "end of song" feedback that is just perfect for what i need sometimes. I would give it an 8 but i'm gonna give it a 10 to offset those others who gave it such bad reviews.Sometimes It doesn't sound Tubey enough for my tastes so i'm getting a Fender Blues Jr. But I doubt I'll get rid of this amp for a long time.

i paid 130 bucks for this in
this little amp is pretty damn versatile.i had a gibson sg through it and it sounded good, i run my acoustic electric through it and that sounds good. then i returned the sg and got an american strat that sounds really good. it has 2 channels switchable by a little switch. it has a three band eq which i different than all the other ones because this one has a -12 and + 12 on all the eq settings so you can really get the eq you want. it keeps the twang on my strat even with 10s as strings. i dont gig and the amp is perfect for home use and small gigs and can get loud as hell i dont ever play it past like 3-5 on overdrivel its deafening. the distortion on this amp is really really heavy. i rarely have to use the ibanez smashbox i have.its a solid state amp and its a 25 watt with reverb. good for all styles of music. i play classic rock, rock, metal some blues/jazz stuff.has headphone jack and footswitch.2 channels distortion with gain and volume, 1 set of eq, volume for clean and a reverb knob.

i am using an american start with 3 single coils and it sounds good. good for heavy/ low distortion. if the distortion on gain channel is turned really low it sounds like shit. the clean channel is really good, sounds almost acoustic and crisp. good with acoustics also. the clean channel i dont think it gets fuzzy and distorted at high volumes. the distortion as i said is pretty brutal.ill give it a 9 cause ive gotten sick of the eq at times.just randomly me being a tone freak. the distortion sounds like crap if the volume is under one. but who plays with a 25 watt amp at a volume lower than one.

ive only been playing a year. but i have pretty good years. this amp i compared to a marshall 20 watt and i liked the sound a lot better. i dislike marshall distortion its not harsh at all. this amps distotion is a lot more agressive. lately ive been looking at new amps. peaveys, fenders and marshalls all of their distortions lack depth and power in the solid state small 50-100 watt range and in the 300ish dollar range. i keep the mids and bass at 12 o clock and the treble at full.
i like this amp quite a lot and might end up buying a bigger ibanez amp because the price to performance ratio is amazing. i highly recommend this 25 watt amp with reverb to beginners and anyone else who wants a good amp but doesnt wanna spent 100s. it gets a 9 because i dont think its perfect.

I think it was a good choice (cheapest amp in the store ) for the money. When using a direct box into a 1600 watt Carvin system with 900 watts of speaker ... it's pretty nice and gives the lead guitar player something to surf on. You gotta know how to use things instead of just whinning that you didn't get a 1000 dollar amp for 150 bucks.

i've played this amp with an ibanez grx20 and an ltd ec1000. you can get pretty good warm or bright clean tones out of this amp, low or high volume. the overdrive channel will not get heavier than maybe grunge. overdrive sound quality is poor. it has no depth at all and sounds gritty. This amp has two footswitchable channels. It has a shared EQ section. The EQ has a really wide range which I find to be quite useful. I play a hum-sing-sing Strat-style guitar. The clean sounds and reverb are decent but not fantastic. Where this amp shines is on the overdrive channel. You can get sounds from blues to metal. I've tried solid-state practice amps by Peavey and Fender and none of them has distortion as good as this.

i play a sakia (sg copy with fender head)
it sounds good for the heavy channel, and clean stays fairly clean when up loud.
Not too much noise on the gain but a bit buzz when up loud
it's good for metal that is the distorion is quite brutal when the mids are scooped think deftones.
I used it at my first ever gig for BAttle of the bands at my school with no PA. Up on stage with about 500 people watching this amp was awsome. It competed well with the drums and every one could hear it.

I've been playing for 17 years, and considering that this is a PRACTICE AMP, its great. I would not gig with it, but I would practice with other guitarist/bassist if they had similar amps with simialr wattage. It listed for 189.99 they had a sticker price of 149.99 and I talked them down to 119.99. They also through in a very nice instrument cable. I love this PRACTICE amp.

Bought this amp in 2001 for practice. I was pleasently suprised at the great sound when I plugged in. The clean channel is excellent, the overdrive is kind of shitty unless played at low volume. I use a AKAI shredder on the clean channel for great sounding distortion and leads. I don't play in a band but this thing can be heard all over the neighborhood. I'm currently running an Epiphone Les Paul Cherry Sunburst through this box and it jams like a mutha! All solid state, wish it had a tube for cleaner overdrive sound.

Les Paul has two humbuckers and it rocks like all hell. Suits my needs since I'm just jammin in the back room. When I first bought this amp I had a piece of crap Browsville Thug....man, what a piece of shit that was....however, as I became more serious I stepped up to better ax. The difference in the sound quality is amazing. The distortion in overdrive still sucks but you can make some minor adjustments on the gain,mid-range, bass and treble knobs to gain a little control. Overall, the clean channel provides deep, rich, clear ass kickin tones when playing chords.

This thing fell off the delivery truck at Sam Ash. It was a showroom special. The case was cracked and kind of leans to one side. I said that's my boy! $90.00 and the box sounds perfect. You could kick this crate down the steps and it'll still crank. Built like a brick shit house.

Been playing guitar off and on for 8 years or so...I'm primarily a piano man. I also own an Ibanez Artwood acoustic and play it daily. If this thing got stolen I'd wish em luck...I'd replace it with something deadly serious. I chose this one because it was cheap and had an overdrive channel. I basically know jack shit about amps but this one despite the bruises, seemed like a steal for me at the time.

My Ibanez TB25R was made in 2002. It's a very versatile amp. I got this amp because I wanted to be able to play older classic rock and metal as well as some of the new metal and grunge. This amp handles all of that extremely well. It is 2 channel, with both push button overdrive as well as a footswitch input. I use this amp to practice at home with and also for rehearsals. I use Marshalls during live performances but if I knew Ibanez made some tube stack amps, I would probably consider them. This is a solid state amp, has gain and volume for the overdrive channel, volume for the clean channel, 3 band eq and reverb. It's a simple amp and I like that. I got interested in Ibanez Amps when I got one of those small Ibanez IBZ10 10 watters, that knocked the socks off of the Marshall small amps I was using. Also, I had read, that guitar makers, make their amps to be balanced with the guitars they make. Made sense, so since I use Ibanez guitars, I started using Ibanez Amps, and I found that to be true.

I use exclusively Ibanez Guitars. I like em. I have several Ibanez electrics, among them a JEM 10, RG 220 and GRX 40. Believe it or not, I like the GRX 40 best, even though it is the budget guitar, however that could be because I have always been partial to the H-S-S setup. I play everything from classic rock, metal to new metal and grunge and this amp suits those styles just fine. Does quite well on jazz and blues too. I like the overdrive and distortion better on this than on my Marshalls because it doesn't sound "grainy" like tha Marshalls. It is smooth and clean, even distorted. Not noisy at all, other than the slight hum I get when using the single coil modes on my GRX 40 and JEM 10. No noise at all on the humbuckers on each guitar and none on the RG 220, which is setup with 2 humbuckers. Very good variety of sounds and man, this thing can CRANK. It can be heard above the drums, which is something I could not get out of my smaller Marshalls I had tried. My clean channel stays clean all the way up........and again, the distortion is BRUTAL. If you are into something like Creed, then this amp will get ya there.

I've been playing for 35 years and have played in bands and worked as a studio musician for over 30 of those years. I have the guitars that I mentioned above, as well as an Ibanez Taliman Acoustic Electric, an Ibanez Acoustic and an old Harmony acoustic guitar that I really love. I would get another if it were lost or stolen. I love it's versatility and the way it maintains sound integrity at high volumes. Great Amp. Best bang for the buck.

Mine is actually not a TB25R it's just a TB25. There is no reverb. Has 2 channels; clean and overdrive. Footswitch Jack is cool. I have used this in a hall about as big as a movie theatre but it was through a large PA. Really wish it had seperate EQ!

THE AMP IS 25 WATTS,2 CHANNELS,MASTER 3 BAND EQ AND REVERB . I BOUGHT IT JUST AFTER THE TONEBLASTERS CAME OUT IN JULY 2000. THE CLEAN CLEAN CHANNEL IS GREAT AND YOU CAN GET AN INCUBUS TYPE SOUND BY PUTTING THE REVERB UP TO ABOUT 8 . THE OVERDRIVE SUCKS UNLESS YOU PLAY NU METAL OR SOMETHING THAT NEEDS A REALLY HEAVY DISTORTION BECAUSE IT IS LOUD AS ALL HELL . IT'S GOT PLENTY OF POWER FOR BAND PRACTICE AND BEDROOM JAMMING, BUT I HAVEN'T USED IT LIVE YET . THE AMP SOUNDS GOOD BUT I WISH THE OVERDRIVE WAS MORE TUBE-SOUNDING(IT'S A SOLIDSTATE AMP)

I PLAY THIS AMP WITH A MEXICAN MADE FENDER STANDARD STRAT (3 SINGLE COILS)WITH A BOSS DS1 DISTORTION . I ALSO HAVE A DIGITECH RP300 THAT I USE SOMETIMES AND A BOSS CHORUS ,IBANEZ DELAY , AND DUNLOP WAH PEDAL . WITH THE DS1 I GET THE SOUND I NEED . I PLAY IN A CRAPPY PUNK ROCK BAND(BLINK182/GREEN DAY/THE OFFSPRING)THAT STILL PLAYS MOSTLY COVERS IN THE GARAGE . THE AMP ISN'T NOISY (I PLAY IT AT ABOUT HALF VOLUME)... THE CLEAN CHANNEL GETS A BIT HARSH AT HIGH VOLUMES AND THE OVERDRIVE IS B-R-U-T-A-L!!! I GIVE IT AN 8 BECAUSE I GET BASICALLY WHAT I NEED FROM IT .

THE AMP IS SOLID STATE SO IT SHOULD BE RELIABLE. I WOULD GIG WITHOUT A BACKUP BUT CHANCES ARE THAT BY THE TIME MY BAND STARTS PLAYING LIVE I'LL HAVE BOUGHT A BIGGER BETTER AMP. UNTIL I CAN MOVE UP TO SOMETHING BIGGER AND BETTER , THE IBANEZ WILL GET THE JOB DONE . IF IT WERE LOST I'D BUY A BIG AMP . I'D PROBABLY BUY THIS ONE AGAIN OR THE 15 WATT VERSION FOR PRACTICE USE .

This is a 2000 model Ibanez TB-25R. 25 watts solid state, one 10" speaker, clean and overdrive channels. EQ applies to both the clean and OD channel, so you may like your clean but have to play with the EQ for the overdrive or vice versa. For me, this isn't a problem because I use a Boss Metal Zone for my distortion and the clean is pretty much where I want it. Amp has optional footswitch jack and a headphone out. Also has reverb, which sounds quite good. Standard equipment for small amps.
Most of the time, I'm playing alone in my room. Occasionally, it goes with me to one of my friends' houses for a jam. I can't really make the amp project over the drums, but it's loud enough to hear.

I use my ESP LTD M-100 guitar with the stock pickups (H/H config). I prefer to play metal (Metallica, Testament, Megadeth, At the Gates, The Haunted, In Flames, that sort of thing) and the occasional classic or prgressive rock riff (like Rush). The amp's distortion is not bad, but overall was not what I was looking for. I wanted more or less your standard scooped mid metal tone, but the amp doesn't quite get this sound. I still use the overdrive channel for other things, but don't expect Metallica-in-a-box or something similar. I'd say it's very usable for a small amp. With the Metal Zone, I get almost exactly the sound I want (about as close as I could get with an amp this size and price). The amp does sound harsh with this pedal at first, but I keep the EQ very low on the amp to round the tone out and dial it in with the pedal. I'm very satisfied with that.
The amp has a decent clean, but don't expect some heavenly tone from it. It can provide a smooth, bassy clean or a high, shrill clean. The reverb improves the clean channel considerably.
The only bad things I can say about this amp are that it doesn't like to get really loud without the speaker rattling and farting out. However, you can crank it up a bit more by cutting the bass and increasing the mid frequency. I have had trouble keeping up with drums. Keep in mind that I have my EQ set for ideal tone at a lower volume, and since the EQ is very low I have to crank that amp farther to get it loud. But that's what I wanted to do with it.
Overall, it sounds quite good for a small amp. I prefer it to my friend's Marshall 30 watt combo.

I have had this amp for over a year (March 2000), and it has gladly taken some abuse. It's been run into walls and doors, and the only problems with it are a few marks on the amp covering and I managed to crack the Ibanez logo in one corner. I play this amp almost every day unless I can't for some reason (work, lazy etc.) so it's not as though it's sitting in a corner collecting dust (well, it is collecting dust, but that's just because I'm too lazy to cover the amp or dust it off). Take good care of yours, and you shouldn't have any problems. It sounds as good and works as well as the day I bought it. Absolutley nothing wrong with it.

This is my first amp, and I've been playing since early 2000. I'm thinking of upgrading to something bigger because I'd like a lot more volume and tone options. If it were lost or destroyed somehow, I'd probably save up for a Line6 Flextone II XL. This is a great first or second amp until you need an amp suitable for gigging or recording in a studio. I'm very happy with it. For this price, I really can't complain about anything. It's a solid performer.
If you need an inexpensive amp for playing in your room or to jam with friends, I recommend this amp. I have never regretted this purchase or wished I had chosen another amp. It's a very good practice amp with enough volume and a good enuogh sound to keep you satisfied for a few years.

This amp is pretty simple, but it makes a good sound. It has one 10" speaker. It has 2 channels (Overdrive and Clean). It has a headphone jack and a footswitch jack. I wish this would have some speaker outputs. I use this amp to jam with my friends. The accoustics in the room are pretty bad so the amp doens't sound real good.

I use humbuckers with this amp, and it sounds good. It makes a pretty good heavy sound for playing chords. I doesn't have real good clean sound though. The amp hums alot. There isn't much variety in the sound you can get with this. It is good for playing heavy chords though, not good distortion for solos. The clean channel does get distorted at high volumes. Like I said, the distortion is good for playing heavy riffs, but not real good for solos.

I am basically using this for its power section (EL-34s). I run the preamp at about 2 o'clock and the master volume at about noon. I run Hamer Studio through a BOSS MT-2 Metal Zone (mid scoop, gain no higher than noon). This yields a tone slightly more metal sounding than Think Lizzy Live and Dangerous...think Zakk Wylde on No More Tears album. The amp has a lot of headroom and stays clea all they way up so it is perfect...much fuller than my MesaBoogie .50 cal which you had to crank to stop the pre-amp buzziness and the British vales just sound fuller than the Boogie's 6L6s. Basically a very good way to get a full powerful distortion tone without having to crank a power section. Clean tone is great too although no reverb.

After 13 years and five Marshalls, a Peavey, a MesaBoogie, a GrooveTubes, a Carvin, and an Ampeg, I have finally found the amp and pedal to get the gain tone I covet (again Zakk Wylde from No More Tears although I play somewhat of a differet style). This amp is a monster platform for whatever preamp or pedal gives you the gain you like. Most people value these for their clean tone or cranked (a la Pete Townsend) I realize mine is an unusual (most Hiwatt fans would say heretical) application but hey it works for me. This amp is loud and ballsy and will move some air even this 1x12 combo. It has huge Partridge transformers and the Fane speaker also has a lot to do with it. Monster tone with or without pedal and something a little different than the usual parade of Marshalls and Boogies. Will be using for the first time at gig tomorrow night going to tell the soundman get that mike away from my amp let it run free...don't need to be in a PA in a club with this amp. Cool!!!!!!!

I bought this Amp new in 1999. It suits my style of music fairly well. I play some classic rock, blues, and alternative. It's got two channels. It's got a volume knob for the overdrive channel, and a gain knob, a clean volume knob, a three-band equalizer, and a reverb knob. Also has a footswitch jack and a headphone jack. It's a pretty well made amp. I play this thing mostly in my bedroom, and with my crappy band. It suits my purposes fairly well.

I play my Ibanez Talman TC630, which has three lipstick pickups through it. It sounds alright. But if you try and play it at any sort of high volume with the pickup switch set on 5, and you play anything on the low E, it rattles like hell. But that's just cause it's a small amp, I guess. If you're planning on playing any sort of gigs, I wouldn't recomend this amp. It tends to sound bad when you turn the volume high enough to actually use for a gig. Although I would recomend it over other brands amps of the same size I've heard. But it's common sense that you wouldn't play a gig through a 25W amp. It sounds pretty good on clean, and the distortion is pretty good. There's lots of it too, you can get it nice and heavy sounding. Although you gotta turn the mid down on it, or it'll sound kind of muffled. Overall, this is a pretty good practice amp, as far as practice amps are concerned, but it's not good for much more than practicing.

This is a pretty reliable amp, from what I've experienced. I've played several small gigs with it. It sounds bad when you turn it up loud enough to play a gig, and it seems as if it's going to fall apart when you're playing at a loud volume, but that's just cause it's small. It's always worked for me. I gig without a backup with it all the time. Well, really, it's the only amp I have, but even if I had another amp just like it, I would gig without a backup.

I've been playing for about a year, and this amp has served me pretty well. I'm about to get me a marshall valvestate chorus 2x12 combo, though. If this amp were lost or stolen, I wouldn't get another one, cause I'm gonna have my nice, big Marshall, but if I wasn't getting a new amp, I would still save up and buy a bigger amp next time, cause this amp is too small to gig with. It's fine for practicing with, but nothing else. From my experience though, it sounds better than most other amps of it's size. I compared it with a peavy when I bought it, and I found it to sound a little bit better. Although, if I were going to buy it again, I would buy the non-reverb model and save $20. The reverb really doesn't do enough for me to make it worth 20 bucks. But overall, this is a pretty good little amp.

I already wrote a review for this amp, but I am writing more about it now. A short at my house caused this amp to blow. I sent it back to Ibanez, and they fixed it. It was still under warranty, but they wanted $62 for fixing it. This was because they knew it was a short, and not a problem with the amp. READ THIS: They did not charge me for the repairs, which was very very nice of them. The tech worked 2 1/2 hours on it, and did not even charge me, even though they didn't have to cover it under warranty. Two thumbs up for their customer service.
