Looks absolutely awesome! I wish more cabs were made like this...metal grill and red speakers - looks aggressive as hell.

Sound Quality : 9
Like the other reviewer said...great for rock and metal. Real clear sound. Probably not in the same class as a cab over $1000 USD...but blows away cabs under that price. Very versitle.

Reliability : 10
This is from the late '80s and still alive and kicking...what more need I say?

Customer Support : No Opinion
Have not tried them.

4 12" red-coned speakers (with Jackson logo in the center) mounted on the outside of a very heavy, black carpeted cab. Then protected with a heavy metal grill! 2 jacks (1 input, other is ouput).
According to the guy I bought it from, you can supposedly you can use the output jack for stereo input which would turn this 16 ohm cab into 8. I haven't tried that yet, or taken a look inside, so, I presume the speakers are 16 ohms wired in series/parallel. That's according to some dude calling himself "Lord Valve" on the alt.guitars.amps usenet group. He's been working on guitar stuff for decades & seems to be really knowledeable, so, there's no reason to doubt it. Also, on that same usenet group is the guy that designed the speakers & cabinets. (No reason to doubt him either). The speakers are made by Eminence and aren't stock speakers. They were custom-voiced to the cab. And I have to say they do sound really nice. Very versatile cab. And oh yeah, it's rated at 200 watts. The carpet does get scraggly-looking, but you know this cab was meant to be taken on the road & be used at extreme volumes! I'm not too sure about the seller's comments about the output jack doubling as a stereo input. So, I'll consider this a mono cab for now - which lowers the feature points it gets...

Sound Quality : 10
Like I said, these are versatile cabs. They have a very warm, well rounded sound that's condusive to playing ALL forms of music. It seems to fatten & sweeten the highs, so it's really not a bright sounding cab, which I wasn't looking for in the first place. And the lows can get really LOW without sounding "farty" or "muddy". It has alot of definition which is great for fast speed metal riffing on the low strings. Mids come through clearly as well. I have a Marshall 1960a cab loaded with Celestion Vintage 30's...& this thing blows it way, especially in the low end department! It's a great heavy metal cab that keeps everything clear when you're playing faaast! But if you want to play some smooth elevator-style jazz through it, no problem, it's clear as a bell, even at ultra-high volumes!

Reliability : 10
Well, it's been around since the early 90's and I've cranked up some of my 100 watt (RMS) heads through it (Marshall JCM 900 & Mesa Solo Duel REcto) at full mono volume and it's still pushing out a ton of air that you can feel pounding your chest, so, i figure it will be around for awhile. It's built pretty solid, and was made to take the abuse of being on the road & playing every night.

The designer of this cab has answered questions on Jackson amps on usenet before. And he has a link to his studio that still works, so, if you have a question, he seems happy to answer. Maybe I'll finally ask about the jack situation.

Overall Rating : 10
Well, for the price I paid & the satifaction it gives me (especially compared to other over-priced cabs I own or owned (o-sized Mesa 4x12 & the Marsh cab I mentioned) along with a handful of others, this rare cab gets a 10. The fact that it's not being made anymore ('87-92?), and that there's alot of Jackson guitar fanatics outhere that would love to have this as background for thier guitars, makes it even more sweet of a deal. I would of gladly paid twice as much for it. And the red speakers peaking out from behind a black metal grill is just classic looking (not in the Fender oxblood grill sort of way ofcourse!) This thing screams classic heavy metal when players played with power & finesse. I'll keep this thing around forever. And look for another one in the process!
