I have no clue what year this amplifier was made in. This thing is fricken versatitle though. I can plug in my Takamine EG-540C into it and play "cute" little Paul McCartney acoustically driven songs (Blackbird, Yesterday, Mother Nature's Son) or I can crank the mid (and the mid on my preamp) and rip out some cool lead with killer distortion, keep in mind i'm using an acoustic electric. It has a headphone jack and a couple of channels. I wish it had reverb. This amp is huge, and the head is really heavy too.

I'm using this amplifier with a Takamine EG540C with an onboard Preamp, notch filter, and EQ. It's acoustic/electric. The amplifier only hums when I plug a solid-body into it intead of my Takamine. Distortion is as brutal as you want :-D Makes my Tak sound better than most solid body electics i've heard.

I've never needed a backup although I do bring a spare patch to run from the head to the cabinet.

I've only been playing for about four years and I own an Andreas guitar and the aforementioned Takamine. I wanna hook it up to a leslie revolving speaker that is laying around.

The amp was made in 1988, On the Logo it Says "Jackson"(the guitar company), on the back it says Made in England. Sources have told me that this is a Tube head designed by Lee-Jackson, made by Laney, and Marketed by 'Jackson'. There is only one channel but it makes up for this in the features that this one channel has. There are two separate gain stages, there is a 3 pot(band) EQ, with a mid-pull boost option(which is an extra preamp/volume boost for the midrange) by pulling out on the "mid" dial and a 3-level midshift switch(which either alters which ranges are boosted by the "mid" or cut), there is also a presence dial and a Master volume all are by the way heavy duty. On the back there is an FX-loop, a line-out with a heavy duty volume knob, an ohms selector, voltage selector, bias pots, and power attenuator. It is all-tube and has "Black Carpet" on the exterior, It is built like a tank(for real) it is extremely heavy and makes a nice weapon. I would give a "9" for features but with the attenuator and the European/American voltage selector it has features that everyone wishes for when they tour abroad, or play in a studio. I wish it had 3 gain stages or four a 5-range midshift(like the lee-jackson ampeg!)

It sounds Awesome, With the dials I can not just get anything from Metal to Blues(or cuntry) but by using the two gain stages and the mid-shift the amp can change from a Marshall into a Boogie if it wants to.

It has had its tubes redone. The head has destroyed speakers but not itself!

Customer support is shit! Jackson acts like they never made an amp ever! None of my emails and phonecalls have been answered by Jackson.

If it were lost or stolen I would take care of the guy who did it. I have played many amps for a 1-channel sound amp this is one of the most versatile, a sobering bit of reality is that in order to make a 2-channell amp or three channel amp the features of each channel are cut down, to fit in the head. Before this amp I never thought one amp could change high-gain tones.
