This cab was built for me to match my '62 brown Princeton. The cab is brown Tolex with wheat grille cloth, metal corners, big rubber feet, and a open/closed back feature. I ordered it without speaker and it was pre-wired and had the additional hardware for quick installation.

Sound Quality : 9
The cab has a good solid sound with no rattles or buzzes.

Reliability : 10
It seems to built very well and I fell it will last.

As mentioned here, Doug does an excellent job of getting you what you want. I wouldn't hesitate to order another.

Overall Rating : 9
The workmanship that Doug puts into his cabs is very meticulous. As far as I can tell, all the Tolex is installed without a defect, and the grill cloth is perfect. He included extra hardware and a hand full of picks. The cab was packaged very well for shipping and came to me without a scratch or dent. It looks great and sounds fine...what more could you ask?

1x12 custom guitar cabinet. Two different sections of the back panel can be removed or left on for closed back operation. Covering is rough sand tolex. Wood is birch, oxblood grill cloth. There are plenty of screws on the back cover for stability and the speaker is rear mounted. The cabinet came with t-nuts ready to install my own speaker, a Celestion G12M70 16ohm. All wiring was ready to go. There are metal corners, rubber feet and a strap handle. Weight with speaker installed is about 26lbs.

Sound Quality : 10
I had this cabinet built to match the size of my Carvin X60C amp, 18x18x10.5". I have the option of stacking or sitting them side by side. It makes a great addition to the amp. The closed back sound goes good with the open back speaker in the amp. Metal chunk or clean and smooth- no problem.

Reliability : 10
This is a new cabinet which is built very very well. It has been used only once on a gig. The cabinet is "built around" the baffel and gives all indications of solid stability.

Doug Holt is the man to talk to. I wasn't sure if I wanted a 2x12 or 1x12. His imput decided me on the 1x12, which actually meant a smaller sale for him. He built it to my specifications, even down to where I wanted the logo put. Doug offered the option of three different wood choices. I picked birch. The imput jack is located so the cabinet can be tilted back against a wall if needed. All this indicision on my part meant several e-mails and phone calls to get everything ready to go. Doug wanted to be certain I was satified and I am.

Overall Rating : 10
I checked around quite a bit and this is a very good price ($169) for a top quality cabinet made to my specifications.I have played for 32 years and don't buy that much equipment. (The amp used with this cab is 14 years old) Mr. Holt was very patient in helping me decide what was best for my situation. If I need another cabinet in the future he will get the job.

Doug Jenkins and I talked about creating this cab at some length. I wanted to reproduce the coupling capabilities inherent in the old Fender tweed deluxe series by trying a "floating" baffleboard in a small 1-12 open back cab.

Sound Quality : 10
This smallish cab is built with solid spruce and a Fir baffleboard. I wanted Doug to "float" the baffle board in a fashion similar to the old Fender Deluxe's of the late-50's and other Fender offerings of the early to mid-60's before the sale to CBS. Doug had not attempted this approach before but jumped to the challenge. He researched several sensible ways to create a floating baffle board and came up with a unique method that more than fills the bill. In a nutshell, this little cab is killer. I wanted a stiff speaker that would allow the full range of tone put forth by my Blue Angel head to come through with little speaker distortion added. Doug and I agreed that the Eminence 12BR8 - suggested by Jeff Sutton as that was what went into his Tone King Imperial with VERY impressive results - would work extremely well.
I'll just say that the end result is a most impressive sounding small, lightweight cab that is perfect for all small-club applications where power tube hi-gain sustain is needed but volume levels must be kept to reasonable levels. A big "thumbs-up" to Doug on this one!

Reliability : No Opinion
It's a new cab so reliability is unknown. Frankly, what the hell can go wrong with a quality-built small cab other than the speaker blowing out? Beats me....?

Customer Support : 10
Doug is a one-on-one type of guy. If you have a problem, you talk to him and no one else. It's that simple.

Overall Rating : 9
This cab is as good as any cabinet I've ever owned with one difference. I had a hand in the making of it. That counts a lot. My input was taken seriously by the maker and few out there will do that.
I've been playing semi-pro for over 30 years. I know my stuff and have taught guitar for 15 years. Over that time I've built up a wealth of knowledge as to what works and what doesn't in guitar gear. I'm happy to say that the JSS cab works and works damn well.
