Musicman Hd130 Twin 12's, appx. 1977. Old stock speakers were not very loud, were dingy sounding, didn't sparkle, had little bass and farted.

Sound Quality : 10
HOLY MOTHER OF GOD!!!! These things are AWESOME!!! My Musicman has gone from dingy to dynamic in one speaker swap! They did exactly what the Jensen web page said they'd do. They tightened and cleaned up and boosted the bottom end, separated the mids into an independently discernible tonal range, and the highs snap without being harsh. The blend is totally balanced, warm, and LOUDER THAN ****! Probably 40% more volume for the same amp setting. I'm going to buy a set for my 50W Speedster too. Best $200 I ever spent to improve my sound.

They are half the weight of most ceramic and alnicos. Both mine had a shipping weight of 13 lbs including the box! They exceeded my expectations. Incredible.

This is the new Jensen Jet Series - Tornado. Main feature is its lightweight and unique tone. 12" 100W Neodymium Guitar Speaker.

I play through Peavey Ultra 112 amps and have never liked the stock Blue Marvel speaker that comes with the amp. as well as the triple XXX and Ultra Plus. These amps are extremely heavy on the mids so I have been trying a large number of speakers to find one that compliments the amp. I have tried Celestion V30's, G12H's, G12H-100's, Eminence Governors, Texas Heats, Jensen C12K's and a few others. They were okay but still not perfect. When I heard about the new Jensen Neo Tornado I thought I would give it a try. I brought two of my Peavey Ultra 112's and sat them side by side and set them identically. I had a Celestion G12H-100 in one amp and the new Jensen Neo in the other and fired them up. I couldn't believe how good my amp sounded with the new Jensen Neo. I honestly couldn't put my guitar down for about an hour. I finally found the sound I was looking for. The clean sound was nice and even. Lows were nice but not overbearing, the mids were smooth and the high were nice but not harsh. Then I went to the crunch channel and set my amp for a semi-SRV type sound. The tone on all pickups was nice and smooth. No harsh peaks anywhere in the frequency response of the speaker. Then I went to the Ultra channel, this is where the speaker blew me away. Peavey amps have a good grind/gain to them but they tend to have a fuzzy type of tone. I like more of the Steve Lukather type sound and feel. This speaker did it for me. Even when playing fast the notes have incredible articulation. It took the edge off the amp and gave it more of a tasty lead sound. In my honest opinion this is the best speaker that I have ever played through for this amp. I never new how important it is to match your speaker to your amp. Trust me, in makes a huge difference. I am now in the process of changing all of my speaker cabinets and amps to the new Jensen Neo's.

Reliability : 10
I have only had it for a week and there have been no problems yet. Other than the fact that it weighs half as much as other speakers it feel kinda like a toy in comparison to the huge magnets on the other name brand speakers.

Customer Support : 10
I deal with a distributor for Jensen and they are wonderful to deal with. They are always willing to help me out in anyway they can. They are the ones that recommended that particular speaker to me in the first place.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for over 30 years. I own tons of amps and guitars.

Very Light! Has 8 hole pattern as opposed to Celestions w/4 so allows easy mounting into all 8 bolt amps and cabs. Its a speaker! What options?

Sound Quality : 10
I agree with a previous poster about this speaker being 'clear' in the sense that its very detailed without being at all harsh. The bottom end it very tight and focused, nice balanced mids(not overbearing), clear highs. This speaker is not 'woody' like a greenback at all. If you are looking for a woody sounding speaker then this might not be a good choice. It has a touch of an American sound but definitely not nearly as much as the Jensen vintage re-issues. Overall very balanced, lets the amp come though without overly coloring the sound. Definitely not for anyone wanting breakup at the speaker, this thing stays clean.

Jensen 12-inch Neo:

It is very light and is even worth installing into a one-speaker combo amp. Obviously, the benefit would be even greater with multi-speaker combos and cabinets.

Sound Quality : 9
This speaker has an interesting sound:

The highs are subdued. Someone looking for an Alnico Blue chime may be disappointed with the top end, however it is smooth - a pleasing smooth - if that is your goal. Someone who wants to tame some highs of his single-coil pickups may find the speaker very useful.

The mids are clear and pleasing. There is no midrange spike and they blend very well with the highs and lows.

The bottom end is terrific. It is very clear and there is no "mud" whatsoever. I typically play humbuckers and this speaker is quite an improvement over the G12H and the Vintage 30. For instance, I've noticed that I now rock my wah pedal much less when I'm playing the bottom fifth or six strings of my Les Pauls. In other words, the rocking of the pedal comes right through; the wah needs much less travel, or rocking, for the desired effect. The Sound is very clear, and I imagine others will really like this speaker.

The speaker seems to have even more bass than the G12H, and the best part is that it is even "clearer".

The speaker strikes me as very versatile.

I've owned the speaker for a couple months with no problems yet.

I like the sound of this speaker.
I like the weight of this speaker.
I liked the price of this speaker.

I would be interested to hear an A/B comparison of this speaker versus an Alnico speaker (the Blue or the Gold).

I've got this Torres modded Deluxe Reverb II. It's one of the early 80's "black face" amps like the Fender Concert of that era but with a single 12" speaker and 2 6V6 power tubes. I spent two years repairing and modding the thing and now it's my favorite amp. It came with a 12" EV/Fender amp with a 10" diameter magnet. The speaker weighs as much as many small combo amps. I wanted something light I could carry to gigs without a "band of Egyptians"..get it? I've tried Jensen C12N, Tone Tubby ceramic and alnico, Weber "Chicago" and Celestions V30 in this amp. Nothing was as nice as that stupidly heavy EV. Well, I bought a Jensen Neo and was really pleasantly thrilled. It's not the same as the EV, but it's as good...and soooo light to carry. This is my new gigging amp from now on. I may buy another for my Goodsell and maybe one for my Carr Rambler....Okay, now, calm down.

Sound Quality : 10
The lows and mids are really nice with single coil guitars. It took a weekend to break it in. I pulled out a 335 last night and had a little trouble finding the right sound, but then I cranked some gain on it and the thing just took off, but still had nice definition. I'm not a lover of distortion, but a good overdriven sound is fine if it's not burying the guitar. Very smooth and defined highs that cut without the spike in the ear thing. I'm very happy with this speaker.

Reliability : 10
Well, it's basically a C12N with a different magnet as far as I can see. Same green frame, apparently the same cone and voice coil size. The only thing cutting edge about it is this groovy magnet. I predict Neo will become a lot more popular in combos, especially Super Reverbs and Bassmen where you have 4 drivers. Weight savings in incredible. I'm looking for a 15" for a Carr Slant 6V. So far, only bass speakers in Neo 15".

Customer Support : No Opinion
No Support needed. Just stick it in and play. High power capacity means few worries about breaking it.

Overall Rating : 10
Price is good, not great, but good. Sound is fantastic, as good as my best speakers. Ahh, the weight...what a relief! Get 'em before people find out and drive up the prices.

Very lightweight, rated at 100 watts rms.

Have it as stock speaker in Reverend Kingsnake. It is a great, warm, full range guitar spaeker. Plenty of everything - highs, mids & lows. Not a speaker for those who want breakup at the speaker (I don't!). It stays tight & the bass doesn't "fart out" up to louder than I care to play (pretty loud!). My Strats sound very sweet and classic with this speaker, & my humbucker guitars bark with authority. P90's really wail with it. A fine sounding guitar speaker and quite efficient. My Kingsnake with this Neo is a very loud 60 watts. Probably not for those who want thunderous distorted 7 string lows.

Reliability : No Opinion
The Neo's do seem to take a while to break in. Can't see it failing in my 60 watt tube amp.

I think this would be a fine speaker in most "Fenderish" amps. It has a lot of warmth, sparkle & life.

I thought I'd write a quick reveiw on this speaker since one else has. It's main feature is that it is very light and is rated at 100 watts. I put one in a Fender Deluxe Reverb and the entire amp only weighs about 36lbs now!

Sound Quality : 10
The Deluxe Reverb is a 65 reissue and was sounding thin and spikey even with the treble turned down to about 4. I have some nice tubes in it and do my own biasing. About the time I put the Jensen Neo in I tried a set of TAD 6V6's. I biased them at 30ma with a the plate voltage at about 390. This appears to be a nice combination with a Reverend Slingshot. I played at a club in Texas that was having a Blues jam and with amp on about 4.5 I didn't need any pedal to get a good lead tone. The room was like an old barn inside with some sheet metal here and there so it was pretty live and loud in there.

Reliability : No Opinion
So far so good. I haven't played through it for that long yet. I think it's just now getting broken in.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 10
This speaker was just what the Deluxe needed. It's fat and balanced. People were shocked when I asked them to pick the amp up. It's so light now. That's pretty cool after a gig! It's sounds great, handles a lot of power and it super lightweight. I think it sounds a lot warmer than the Celestion Neo's I have. I haven't tried the Vintage Celestion Neo yet though. I think this speaker is way cheaper than the Celestions too. I know Reverend is using this speaker for the new King Snake amps.
