12 inch 25 watt ceramic speaker made in Italy, 16 ohm

This is an update to my previous review. I originally tried this in a Epiphone Valve Standard 15 watt class A amp and it work quite well (quite well, as opposed to fantastic). When I tried it in my Fender Deluxe Reverb it fell apart (not physically but tonally). In the Fender the speaker was over powered by the amps 22 watts. The bass distorted horribly and the highs were very thin and trebly. As long as the volume was real low the speaker did better but nothing like in the Epiphone. It appears that you really need to match this speaker with the right amp. In the Epiphone it works quite well, it gets a bluesy tone. Note: A Jensen C12K works very well in an Epiphone Valve Standard for just about any style of music (in the Fender as well).

On the Epiphobe amp I was able to handle the muddy humbucker neck pickup by rolling the mid control to off, cutting it entirely. So the muddy humbucker seemed to be amp related.

Jensens are quite reliable

In the right amp I give it about a 6 or so, maybe a 7, in the wrong amp it's a disaster.

Ceramic 12 inch speaker 25 watts (this one is 16ohms). This is an Italian made Jensen speaker.

This speaker has a bluesy tone to it. I have used the C12N (50 watt) and C12K (100 watt). At first I did not like this speaker, I was trying to use it as a general over-all speaker for modern rock to blues. I hated it, until I pulled it out of the closet (where it sat for a couple years) and put it in my Epiphone Valve Standard 15 watt amp. Well it really liked being in this amp and it's tone was BLUESY. All my guitars took on a bluesy tone with this speaker. The amp is a true class A amp and it has a warm sound using EL84 tubes. So I am not sure how it will sound in a A/B style tube amp. I loved the bluesy lead tones. I was not getting this same character of sound with the Jensen C12K (one of my favorite speakers) or the stock Epiphone speaker or the Eminence GB12 that was in it. The C12K was great for everything over-all. However the C12R has that blues character predomonatly. The bass was less than than I prefered (but okay for me)but I do have it in an amp using EL84 tubes which has low bass output. I am using a 16 ohm speaker instead of the 8 ohm so I am not getting the full volume out of the speaker so this to may also contribute to the low bass of the speaker (I will have to upgrade to a 8 ohm). Lead lines stand out well, the highs are not ice-picky. The speaker takes some time to break in. It seems to favor the bridge pickup (all types) but gets real muddy with humbucker neck pickups. Single coils, especially the strat neck pickup sounded nice and bluesy, less rock-ish. When using pedals the speaker has a bit of a brash-ness or barking quality to it (if that makes sense), I really liked this, leads just jumped right out with that blues bite. It's cheap to buy so you may want to give it a try.

No problems with any of my jensen speakers.

This hard to rate, one can really hate this speaker in the wrong amp (say a Peavey Classic 30, I do not recommend it for this amp). In the right amp and with the intention of playing blues or getting a blues tone one can be pretty happy with this. It does seem to have it's odd ball quirks, like being muddy with humbucker neck pickups (tweaking tone controls did), single coil neck pickups played clean sounded nice.
