Plug and play!

This speaker does well with the bluesy rock style I play. II'm currently using a 96' American Fender Strat with everything stock. I'm running it through a Dunlop wah into an Analog Man Silver Mod Ibanez TS808, then into my 64' Fender Bassman and 2x12 cab. I've only put a few hours on the speakers, but the tone so far has produced the quality sound I wanted to hear. With what I'm using it really has the attributes that let this amp really shine. To me it has that alnico round, bell-like tone, which breaks up early giving you that gritty, throaty sound. This speaker may not sound good with just any amp. It will take trying it out with their own setup to come to a decision whether or not it will work for you. I tried celestion copies, and some Jensen c12n's in it and it just didn't produce what I was looking for. All in all it fits what I wanted to hear from my setup.

I sure hope I can. Time will only tell.

Haven't dealt with them.

From what I've heard so far from these speakers, they have it where it counts. It cleans up nicely and can get pretty mean when pushed. I know that there are better speakers out there, but for getting the amount of tone you do for a amall amount of cash, it's hard to go wrong.

Your basic speaker

Sound Quality : 9
I mainly play a strat and only have done one gig with them soon after I bought them. I bouhgt a pair to put into an old fender 2x12 cab that I modified to open back.(about 1/3 open) I used a BF Tremolux head with the negative feedback lifted and a 12ax7 in the PI. As soon as I put them in they sounded cool. I bought them from some speaker re-coner's who looked them over real well and thouhgt the construction was good. They did get seem to loosen up as we played them about an hour. They've jsut gotten better and better and I'm very happy. Real round and smooth breakup, good articulation. I play blues/rock and I like them so far.

I've been playing a long time. Have alot of stuff but I just keep coming back to my strat for versatilty and tone. I was on a bit of tonequest and these seemed to make sence for the application. I ran my jtm45 throught the bottom and didn't like it. With my Tremolux and Bassman its great. Very Fender. They put them in Victoria Twins so I figured they'd be good and were alot cheaper than any other ALNICO.

Vintage reissue Jensen P12Q..actually two of them!

Sound Quality : 5
I'm using these speakers in a Vintage 1960 Montgomery Ward Airline 8500 (Valco, Supro Made) Amplifier with two 6L6's and three 12ax7's. My main guitars (when I'm using this particular amp) are a relic Strat with a 70's Strat neck and Texas Special pickups and a '88 American Standard Strat. I'm usually playing blues and late '60's early '70's rock al'a Hendrix, Cream, Deep Purple. The amp had 1959 Rola Alnico Speakers which sounded great......until I blew them up. The P12Q's sound pretty good at low volumes but when you crank them up they seem to get really brittle......almost annoying sounding. I like speakers that get fatter and more compressed at high volumes and the P12Q's seem to do the opposite with this setup. If I stomp on my Tube Screamer the speakers mellow out but of course the TS9 changes my tone.

I ran a loud 60hz tone through the speakers for a couple of hours to loosen them up and they sounded a little better. Maybe in time they will mellow out.

I tried NOS USA tubes and Sovtek's and I think the Sovetek's sound a little mellower.

Reliability : 10
The speakers seem like they would be pretty reliable.

I've been playing for 40 years. Played in rock bands in the 70's and metal bands in the 80's, in the 90's I was an old guy hanging around....... and now I'm getting back to my roots. I've had Marshall Plexis, JMP's, JCM 800's, 900's, tons of Tweed Fenders and 60's Fenders, Supros and for speakers I've used Jensen Alnico's and Ceramic, Celestion 25's, 30's, you name it, and my lovely Rola's :(. The P12Q's are somewhat of a disappointment. My Airline amp went from something I loved playing to something that makes me want to put my fingers in my ears at high volumes. But like I said, the P12Q's sound pretty good at low volumes.
I didn't compare these speakers with other new speakers. I bought these at the recommendation of the salesman who was very convincing.
I really wish I had gotten the Weber 12A125-A or something similar, although I haven't tried the Weber's.

12" alnico guitar speaker. Vintage reissue. It's very much a one trick pony but if that's the trick you need, it can't be beat for the price.

I've had this speaker in a Fender Deluxe Reverb re-issue for a couple of months now and have used it with a Fender 62ri Strat and Deluxe Nashville Tele. It's a warm speaker with relatively early breakup that is perfect for playing the Blues. In particular, given the early breakup, it is perfect at low to mid volume levels (up to 4 on the DRRI) for those of us who play at home a lot. Frankly, I was never much happy with the sounds I was getting out of the DRRI until I tried this speaker. It really warmed up and smoothed out the ice pick highs the DRRI had with the stock speaker and the early breakup gives it just enough grit for getting down and dirty without blowing the windows out. For Country or Rock, it may not be the best choice but I can't imagine a better speaker for playing the Blues.

Reliability : 10
So far, this is the 2nd Jensen reissue speaker I've tried. Both have worked fine and I've never heard anyone complain about their durability.

Never had to test Jensen's support.

I've been playing for 30 years (although I've only practiced for 2 ;-). Mostly acoustic but I've been working on electric blues for the last few years. I'm really happy with this speaker and would definitely buy it again. It sounds *so* much better to my ears than the Jensen C12N reissue or the Alltone 1250 I tried. Note that both of those speakers sounded fine but neither fit my style of funky, gritty, blues like the P12Q. Highly recommended, particularly in a Deluxe Reverb.
