I'm just real happy I don't own this piece of garbage. My cousin (he's 14) got this for his birthday, along with A Squire strat.

Sound Quality : 1
His Strat sounds terrrible thru it. My Ibanez sounds sounds even worse. I let him plug his Strat into my Fender Blues Junior so he'd know what a good amp sounds like. He couldn't believe it. He thought it was Ok until he heard decent sound for the first time.

Reliability : 1
Real cheaply built.

It's fucken garbage, bro. I'm only 19 and no big expert, but trust me - it sucks so bad. I've played for 3 years and had a crappy amp once. But it wasn't this bad. I work hard for MY money and spent it on a Fender tube amp, cuz they rock! Now my cousin is into guitars and he knows what he wants for christmas.

The Johnson AXL-20WEA is a single channel input, 20 Watt, solid state practice amp, but has surprising capability in a small package. It has a reverb, an effects, loop, and separate tone, reverb, gain and presence dials. The clean and distortion channels can be set independently and control by the master volume. It has an 8" speaker in a closed enclosure and is fuse protected. It also has a headphone-out for late night practice.
Bought it new - could still smell the solder flux when opened the shipping plastic. I believe it is of Chinese manufacture. Its all black and looks cool enough.

This is a must hear to appreciate item. It makes a big amp sound - well at least 20 Watts worth - in a brief case sized box. The reverb unit is impressive. When cranked up, you get a great slap-back (delay) effect that is essential for a good rock-a-billy sound. And it does everything in between quite nicely, too. The presence controls will take you from muddy to BRIGHT. The dirty channel will go to the limits any trash metal player would want.
Having only an 8" speaker, the low end gets a little dicey at high volume. But, this is something you should expect from a small solid state amp. I can say that it is better than any other equivalent 20-Watt unit I tried. It's a great little box to practice with, but clearly not a big gig machine.
It struggles to cut through when I practice en-duo with my sax player. But in every other respect it is perfectly reasonable for home use. What it lacks in power it makes up for in quality sound. I've miked it and played and played it through my Ampeg VT-22 -- all the power anyone needs.
It's the perfect only-one-I-can-afford-kinda-first-amp-for-a-beginner. Use your imagination. (Mom & Dad might really like that headphone-out option. It sure beats the hell out of listening to them complain -- been there, done that!)

Reliability : No Opinion
So far so good. Haven't blown a fuse as yet. This is, in effect, a disposable unit. The fuse is there to protect the solid state electronics. There is no way this would be worth repairing at the price, as I seriously doubt that you could find anyone to repair it for a reasonable price. A speaker replacement might be justifiable.

Comes with a one-year warranty!

A great little box for a great little price.
