I've got an ESP MH400NT and an Epiphone Korina Explorer, i play a broad rang of music, everything dinkin around with country, minus the bear delay type playing, old school rock and metal, and downtuned heavy brutal blow you balls off your body metal in the vien of mastodon, dillinger escape plan, pelican, isis, russian circles, horse the band, and such music. This amp will be noisy if you turn it up, every amp is except for if you spend thousands of dollars on an amp. This amp can do anything i want it to, with the correct pedals. If you want clean, its got it, with the sweet reverb to boot, and its got gritty clean/bluesy sounds with the distortion channel. If you crank the distortion it has enough to do metal. It sounds really nice with the mids cranked and the bass and treble laid back. I leanred in my years of playing metal, that you really don't need very much distortion if you play well and your riffs are badass!

well, i've had it for about 6 years now, its never broken except the input, when i stepped on the cord and broke it. Other than that, i'm sure i will be giving this thing to my kids, it is solid state.

I've been playing for about 6 years, off and on. I own a peavey ultra tube combo, which i used to play through a Marshall 4x12, but that will soon be sold. I also have a peavey solid state bass amp that rocks for guitar. I have played through mesa boogie, bogner, fender, marshall, and other great tube amps extensively. I love this little combo, it was my first amp and it still rocks, i think it even rocks more just cause i've worn the speaker and electronics in by playing bass through it and using it as a PA for my singing, and droppin it and spillin shit on it...Johnson made this thing to last!

I bought this amp about a year and a half ago. This amp will cover a pretty broad range of styles i guess. You can gewt numerous diffferent distortion sounds out of by really tweaking it around. I play hard rock/metal...this amp does not that have a very good distortion channel for metal..it may be good for punk or rock but not huge distortion stuff. It has a very nice spring reverb a effects loop that i never use and headphone jack that suits practicing late. I wish it had a little heavier distortion... i like it but it need more gain. I also wish it was just a tad louder..i am not sure if the y made others in this series louder than this if they did i would have bought that...but only because i need it for my band. Its a really good amp and i would use it if it had a footswitch pedal, better heavier distortion and if it was louder... i would be set. This is a solid state amp and i have not tried many tube amps but i'm actually quite fond of the sound i get out of my amp thats why its going to be hard to sell it.

I use a mexi strat with a boss super chorus into this amp. It sounds great but again if i had a footswitch pedal it would be awesome. It doesn't suit my musical style..but it is great for learnigna beggining people or others that like the weaker distortions. This amp can get noisy at really high volumes but since i use it at bedroom volumes most of the time it doesn't bother me..thats why its probably better for a practice amp. But with the right equipment you can quiet it down quite a bit. I can go anywhere from touching the randy rhoads sound on crazy train to almost ditorted enough for old school metallica. It clean channel is good for stuff like red hot chili peppers...anything you would want to play clean you could probably get of this amp with the right gear. The clean channel distorts at high levels...but that cool!!!! Its a cool feeling with a little bit more crunch on the clean channel. One knob that i really like on this amp is the presence..its cool because its almost like your picking the attack of your picking..when dialed to 7 and distortion all the way up and the eq set as Treble:10 Middle:4 Bass:6 you get a great distortion that you can really hear the metallica like picking like the galloping james does and is great for soloing.

It has never broken down on me..i just recently tore of the input on accident and my dad just popped on a new one..fixed...and i dropped it from about three feet up offf my desk(on accident)and luckly it fell on its back but nothing happened it was ok. These things are pretty reliable. No tubes so no hassle. I wouldn't gig this because tis not loud enough and i wouldn't if it was louder because with the setup i have right now it would get feedback and it is loud but if you turn down the presence at high volumes it gets quieter but also you loose youre attack.

I have been playing for about two years. I own a couple effects from boss and my mexi strat. If this was stolen iw ould buy a different amp because this one is not loud enough for me. If i had some left over though i would buy it for a practice amp..this thing is only one hundred dollars us. I loved the treble like feel of the distortion. I hated the fact it didn't come with a footswitch pedal and that it gets noisy at high volumes. If those two bad qualities were taken care of..and if it had a better metal distortion and it was louder i would have no trouble owning this amp for the rest of my life!!!!!!

i'm using it with a Schecter A-7 Diamond series that has semymor duncan stock pickups. The clean channel is amazing, i give it a 9. The distirtion is somewhat weak, but for a hundred buck, not bad; i give it a 5.

Made in 1999. 30 watt solid state combo amp. It has clean and distortion channels and a few more features than your average amp in this range - a presence control in addition to the usual bass/midrange/treble, reverb, and an effects loop. The effects loop is one of the main reasons why I bought this amp. It suits what I do well - I don't play large enough rooms that I'd need more power than this.

I use it with many different guitars - a Fender Strat Plus Deluxe, Parker P-38, Danelectro Hodad, Route 101 Solimar Custom, a Lace prototype guitar, a DeArmond JetStar, an MIM Fender Strat. a DeArmond Jet Star bass, and a Fernandes Palisade DC-50 acoustic. I play mostly through a Johsnon J-Station, although I also use some overdrive pedals and a Zoom 504 Acoustic Simulator. The clean channel is excellent - loud and clear. The reverb works well. The distorted channel is too harsh for my taste - but I use overdrive a lot more than distortion. A metal player might find it ideal. The clean channel would get a 9 or 10, the distortion maybe a 5.

Seems very reliable. I use it every day with no problems, and I've accidentally left it turned on for two or three days several times. Solid state amps tend to be quite reliable in general.

I've been playing about 2 years recently, although I also played as a teenager before taking a LONG break. If it were lost or stolen, I'd look around for alternatives. Nothing wrong with this amp, but I don't need even 30 watts. A 10-15 watt amp would do me fine - I just like to have an effects loop. I do some of my practicing through a Fender Mini-Twin, which is 1 watt. This amplifier is a very good value if you use the clean channel or like very "brutal" distortion. For blues overdrive sounds, I'd prefer a small tube amp.

This amp has 2 channels - clean and distortion. The only way to switch between the two is an "up-down" button - no footswitch. It features a digital delay with length and depth and a presence control as well the usual low-mid-high eq settings. It has 1 input, a headphone output and an effects loop.

I am playing a Strat "clone" (S-S-S), a BC Rich Warlock (H-H), and an Ibanez RG220 (H-H) through this amp. The clean channel is somewhat respectable, but the distortion is pretty crappy. The digital delay sounds decent when playing in the clean channel. Again, the distortion is real cheap so all the delay does is help it sound cheap with some slapback. The presence control helps the dist. a little, but the mid-range on this amp is just to overbearing. Again, the clean is very decent and stays that way at high volumes, by the way, the dist sounds a little better the louder you crank it (say at about 9-10), but still crappy. Did I mention that the distortion is crappy?
Clean gets an 8 - distortion gets a 2

No problems. I do not gig it. Don't plan to, but I'm sure it would hold up. Not very loud (even for a 30 watt combo)

OK for a beginner or someone looking to jam with some friends. I would not have bought this if I were able to listen beforehand. I only spent about $90 for it though, so I guess it's worth it to me.

I have a guitar with korean humbuckers in it and it sounds fairly good for rock/blues music. It tends to hum a lot at high volumes. The clean channel stays clean even at high volumes.

Ive been playing for three years and this as been a good amp for what I do. If I start gigging I might look into something a little louder.
